Ah shit. Here we go again.
What's the most powerful card in Hearthstone?
A credit card.
Gul'dan two standard boogaloo
Living like that.
Well, that's kinda boring.
Sure, it's a decent lategame play and you can use it early to cheat out some stuff, but overall the effects seems to have anti synergy. One wants you to play big demons, the other wants small.
We don't even really have many big demons that would make this worth it, just the Nightshade Matrons and maybe an odd Siegebreaker won't be enough.
At best I couuld see it with some Aranasi Broodmothers and Betrug in Plot twist lock, but that's a meme deck anyways.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Bloodreaver Gul'dan has been roborn. This will definatly see play in wild. Cubelock will love it. In standard i'm curious at best, it will be a nice reload tho.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Disappointingly Boring
Kanrethad Prime is very powerful, and if you can get multiple copies off, its essentially a mini galakrond with a good stated body. Even kanrethad himself only costs 2 and has vanilla stats.
Dont underestimate the card.
I beg to differ. For one, it is a cheap legendary with a good effect that enables future powerplays, then it is also a prime generator that will generate demons on board. I guess what I meant to say is I'm hoping to unpack a golden copy of this bad boy
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
This legendary is rather disappointing in my opinion. Basically a Sorcerer's Apprentice for demons. Not sure for which archetype this minion was designed for.
It's obviously a bad card for Galakrond decks, since Kanrethad Prime will mostly summon 1/1.
In Zoo decks, this card can be used to cheat out many cheap demons in one turn, but the resurrect effect of Kanrethad Prime will be rather weak.
In a deck that contains a lot of big demons, the cost reduction of Kanrethad Ebonlocke will be negligible, but Kanrethad Prime can create a strong power turn.
Another great Prime card - you really need to build your deck (or at least the demons inside it) around that Prime, if you want a powerful swing turn in the late game. If you are just a Zoo and want a board refill - you can do that as well - nothing wrong with that.
And the discount of your demons is small, but can enable some shenanigans, so a + in my book as well.
Now, when I think about it - I understand why they removed Spellbreaker from Standard - Silence will take a lot of the fun from those Prime cards away.

EU Legend: S52 (ZooHeal Lock); S76 (Highlander Hunter);
Kanrethad Ebonlocke is great for Turn-2 swing in Zoolock, with cheap demons at hand (up to 5-6 minions down for 2-mana), with room to grow more and more reliable the more 1-cost efficient Demons they release, especially in Wild. If only we had a Crystology for Warlocks...
Kanrethad Prime is excellent to generate great swing turns in later game, especially for a Midrange Demonlock.
However, for Wild purposes Kanrethad Prime is battlecry, and it might be a problem in Cubelock, especially with Skull of the Man'ari: trying to get it to work without impairing your summons might be too clunky, especially in later turns.
So I've been thinking about it and this might actually be pretty good In Plot twist Warlock.
YOu run Broodmother, Betrug and the new Enhanced Dreadlord as your demons, then sruvive until the Betrug turnand use it with Plot Twist to get out a bunch of stuff to stabilize as well as Kanrethad (the base form) so you get to shuffle at least two Primes in the deck, which will act as your lategame powerplays and will usually res something good (Betrug, taunts or lifesteal demons).
Unfortunately there isn't any way to shuffle more Primes
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Why shuffle more primes when you can get it off Expired Merchant instead? if you keep the coin or generated it, you can easily just coin Mortal Coil and play the prime with another prime in hand.
This can actually help control warlock get some value instead of using Dragonqueen Alexstrasza.
I like Expired Merchant, but she makes running stuff like Alexstrasza or Enhanced Dreadlord much less reliable.
Maybe she's useful as a 1-of for that purpose, but I don't really think that's worth it.

Very powerful, can make a pretty insne turn 2 in zoo with flame imps and void walkers.
pretty nice demon lock card it makes your imps free at turn 2 which can be a relatively scary turn 2.
This card require a proper deck to work since you don't want rez some 2 mana demon. Anyway the effect is strong, but can warlock build a big demon deck right now ?
Pretty strong, but the two halves have anti-synergy with each other. The first half wants you to play small demons, while the second half wants you to play big ones.
In Wild there are a number of things to do... You could have Baron Rivendare, Spiritsinger Umbra, and even Augmented Elekk. So there are a number of way to put more Primes into your deck. The question really is, do you want to build a deck based around it?
Standard needs more Big Demons to really justify running him; what are you planning to revive otherwise, a Flame Imp? In Wild, though, I can definitely see a Big Demonlock happening with Bloodreaver Gul'dan as another way to revive all the threats.
So having a discount on demons is nice, but won't you want your pool of demons for this guy to be consistent of LARGE guys so you don't just get flame imps or Tokens ?
Not enthralled by this. The first half helps demon rich zoo decks dump their hand, the second half rewards playing big demons, which zoo does not do. If a demon-heavy zoo deck is good, it will probably use the prime as a second DK Gul'dan for a one-card board, while the first half seems to be a trap that leads you into overextending. It all depends on the strength of demon zoo decks. Probably too weak for anywhere else.
This post is discussing the wild format.
I think this is the best Prime. It's just crazy with POWER!
Some random of this, some random of that. We all will serve Yogg-Saron, Hope's End !
Unpopular Opinion Incarnate
Another build-around legendary, but also strong as a board creator. Maybe someone will make this work.
I really like this card. It is flexible and powerful, a good build around card that will help shape warlock decks for the next few years. This could be what warlocks needed to actually be a good class.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Meh. Use Expired Merchant to duplicate the Prime and maybe it's good enough to run. I'm not convinced.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Looks pretty strong I’d say (especially since you could play a Voidcaller on 3 with this)
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
My favourite thing about this card is the art alone. I'll play it even if it's not good!
"your demons cost 1 less" part make it auto include in zoo locks.
I never apologize… I’m sorry but that’s the way I am.
So did anybody have any success with this card? Especially in Wild?
I have been trying him in Evenlock, and truth is I either win or lose before I can actually draw Kanrethad Prime (literally, I have yet to see the card in my hand).
Cubelock can hardly find any serious room for him.
I guess I'll switch to Zoolock but I am afraid the card doesn't really have any serious impact in any meta-viable deck, given the opposite synergies of its two forms...
Any experiences with him?
He is pretty good in discozoolock (omegalul), you can dump your cheap demons for good tempo.

Darkness rises.... hope fades...
Isn't the card good enough? I always thought it made sense in decks with big demons like Reno or Cubelock. Well, if the latter deck doesn't have any room for it, as you claim, then maybe just in Reno? Or zoo, like Superkowboj1 suggests?
Well, with some further tuning, I came up with this one, and I just defeated a Secret Mage also thanks to a big swing (wall-o-demons) with Kanrethad Prime!
Here's the list, I am wondering about replacing one Aranasi with either Spiritsinger Umbra or [Hearthstone Card (demonic pact) Not Found].

As for Cubelock, what would you replace with Ebonlocke? An Egg maybe?
Definitely an egg. I haven't played the egg version of cubelock myself, but whenever I played against it, I felt like the eggs were weak inclusions. Imho that's the case with the eggs that give you a 3/4 beast. Maybe N'zoth is too slow in this meta, but I saw some decks running that legendary and the eggs gave it bad deathrattles. The only good thing about them is the synergy with Plague of Flames. So, yeah, run this new legendary.
I only played Standard, but he's an amazing finisher in Plot twist lock. Currently trying to find the best way to make that deck work (I think dragons are the way to go, Plot twist only as a side mechanic basically) but Kanrethad puts in a lot of work. While I'm still a bit too slow in the early game against Demon Hunters and their burn it works as a great value engine against decks like Libram Paladin.
If you run Zephrys and Alex and this you're basically guaranteed a powerful finisher and punish any opponent that doesn't manage to clear multiple boards of big minions.
Enhanced Dreadlord is honestly such a powerful pull from this it can basically end games on its own (unless you die right after). Ocasionally the base effect also comes into play if you play him after a boardclear to maybe get a dreadlord out faster.

That's what I've been messing with too. I unpacked a golden version of Kanrethad Ebonlocke, so really hoping to make him work.
Dark Portal might be too slow and at this point I'm very tempted to just drop Sac PAct because DH isn't as common anymore and no other class really uses demons, and handsize is always a concern.
I was also considering just dropping the Quest altogether. It rarely comes online early enough to matter and not running it gives some incentive to go for Zzeraku (who I feel is very underrated as a finisher, especially in a deck that reaches fatigue very early)

Got to legend fairly easily with this Quest Warlock decklist
AAECAf0GDsUE2wbcBooHjQjECOujA/yjA5GxA/O3A8S5A9a5A+2+A+6/AwijAdqWA9qbA/qkA7ulA+WsA+usA+ysAwA=
It’s not mine, I found it online while looking through DH and Warlock deck builds to try and make a good Highlander Hunter deck, which in the end didn’t work out. I got 100% winrate with it against anything except Druid, DH and Rogue. Rogue is still an extremely favorable matchup (80 or 90%), while Big Druid and DH were about even (double pact helps a lot for the latter and gives you free wins against any other Warlock decks).
