  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Priest Cards

    I don't agree with you.
    Priest looks bad. Really bad. It would be better if the Year of the Dragon expansions actually provided some serious support to this class' inner shift, but unfortunately it appears that it's not the case.

    Just take Skeletal Dragon and Coilfang Warlord, or Winged Guardian if you want to stick with the same mana cost. Wanna talk about dragons? Emerald Explorer trades 1 mana and 1 health less for the chance to discover your dragon and to be able to play it immediately. It's so unfair that it's not even funny.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Priest Cards

    In my opinion, priest has some good cards in the expansion, but that shouldnt surprise anyone with the class's transition into a more tempoish class similar to paladin.

    A few short thoughts;

    - Imprisoned Homunculus curves into Apotheosis, which is why I think both cards will feature in a tempo priest. But I'm more interested in Imprisoned Vilefiend into Power Infusion. Can there be room for both? I dont see why not.

    - Dragon tempo priest can actually do well, with cards like Skeletal Dragon and Dragonmaw Sentinel being very good synergy cards. The sentinal in particular since it has lifesteal and therefore every aggro class will proceed to waste resources on this card instead of hitting your face.

    - Dragonmaw Overseer, [Hearthstone Card (Sethekk vielweaver) Not Found], and Renew, I'm much less optimistic. Dragonmaw overseer in particular is very slow and will die to anything more than a poke in the arm. Buffing something with 2/2 is very strong, especially with cards like Dragonmaw Sentinel, but that doesnt change the fact that Dragonmaw Overseer is just a 3 mana 2/2 that needs a board to work and doesnt allow a potential value trade the same turn you play it. In other words, just play Apotheosis instead.

    - I think zetalot, pro priest player, remarked that he is impressed with Psyche Split. Not for me to doubt the priest king himself, but I dont see it. Perhaps he already has something in mind every one else cant see. I look forward to seeing if he's right on this one.

    - Soul Mirror will cause quite a lot of raging and computer smashing to happen at some point.

    Edit: Removed my opinion that priest having one of the best sets. Seriously, they have some good cards, but no way best.

    Small indie website I guess. It lets me edit it, though...
    At least Ill get an achievement for downvotes on a single comment.

  • The Ashes of Outland Demon Hunter Prologue is Live!

    I'll assume you were replying to someone else as I can hardly connect the dots here ...
    The lore guide was great because it brought me a better understanding of the story-line at stake during the prologue;
    both precisely covering the origin story of Illidan and his transition into becoming the very first Demon Hunter.

    I've won off that card as well.  I wasn't aware that it actually had an "Expedition only" version called "Accelerated Purrsuit"....that gives me hope that they will balance more cards for expeditions.

    And to reply further, I agree that it feels easy-ish to play 15 different cards.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Paladin Cards

    Okay, good ol' Pally. Let's see;

    Imprisoned Sungill, practically unloved by all, is a 1 mana Murloc Tidecaller that summons an extra 1/1 murloc, but comes 2 turns later. Its easy to see why its considered a weak card; its slow, the effect is subpar, and its weak all on its own. But theres something to be said about a card that swarms the board, happens to be in a class that needs a board to work, and is a murloc. This card curves well into Coldlight Seer, can be buffed by stuff like Scalelord, and Righteous Cause, and your opponent can't prevent it from being buffed. Three 1 health murlocs is not remotely threatening, but buffed up with 3 health or divine shield and the card is suddenly threatening a Murloc Warleader comeback. Im already concerned about paladin's ability to keep a board in the early game thanks to the new class demon hunter, which is why I think cards like Imprisoned Sungill and Imprisoned Vilefiend deserves a second look in the class.

    On the other hand, while I do love the concept of a librarian paladin, I'm not as optimistic. Paladin has serious issues about maintaining tempo in the early game, which is exactly why rogue preys on the class even today. Add dhunters being everywhere day 1, there's got to be a way for paladin to make a comeback around turn 3-4 and in my opinion the librams aren't contributing to that cause. You need two attendants or 1 truthseeker to make Libram of Wisdom remotely playable and the famed Libram of Hope comes much much later, so if you drawn both of them but not your discount cards, its effectively a dead card. In short, I'm already having problems with paladin's consistency thanks to their abysmal draw cards (no Acolyte of Pain, Prismatic Lens and Crystology rotating) and now we're supposed to jam a few more value cards for a late game that does little to nothing on the early game. To illustrate further, the higher winrate card in pure pally is not the famed and frankly insane Lightforged Crusader, but good ol' reliable Lightforged Zealot. It doesnt take alot to understand why a mere additional 4/2 body with truesilver champion is the better card.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Priest Cards

    Apart from viability discussions, Apotheosis has a stunning art and I think it competes for the best one in the whole set.

  • Mushroom Power!

    Yeah it does that sometimes. If you look at some of the other pack openings, you will see some cards missing. Don't think the other card was anything of relevance, think it was just a common.

  • Balancing for expeditions - Yes this is going to be a Teemo/Shroom Rant

    I agree with you about elusives. Even if your deck just has a few of them they can completely carry some games where opponents don't draw enough removal or elusive units to counter them, and when combined with buff spells they can just become straight up BS (losing with a full board against a single Shadow Assassin + Battle Fury is not a fun experience).

    About the puffcap decks, I kind of agree and disagree at the same time. These types of decks certainly feel a lot stronger in early expedition matches when there are not that many cards in each player's deck compared to ranked matches. However, I still rarely lose to puffcap decks, although a lot of those games have been very close. They also made me realize that I'm glad that puffcap decks aren't high tier, because while they can be fun to play, they really are not fun to play against in my opinion. Whether puffcap decks are good or not, turn 1 Teemos are always annoying (at least it's in line with the champion in League of Legends).

    One thing I'd like to add which I think is poorly balanced in expeditions is Purrsuit of Perfection or rather the expedition version: Accelerated Purrsuit. I speak from experience when I say that this thing completely wins games on its own. It's surprisingly easy to play 15 different cards in slower matchups and if the opponent doesn't have hard removal or frost bite they are guaranteed to be screwed. Playing Heimerdinger with just a couple of spells will already get you a long way. I think I had 2 or maybe just one copy of Accelerated Purrsuit in one of my expedition runs, and I went 7-0 just because I was consistently able to play this card, often followed by my opponent surrendering. I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen anyone talk about this thing yet because it really does not seem well balanced to me at all. Very often one player will think they are about to win a game and then the opponent drops a Cataclysm on their face and it's over. Even frostbite spells are often only able to delay the inevitable.

    Congrats everyone, and hope everyone has fun when it Launches. Can't wait to try Spell Mage.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Paladin Cards

    To be honest I have the same opinion that poor Imprisoned Sungill may turn out to surprise everyone, mostly because paladin happens to be a buff class and sungill swarms the board.

    They wouldn't have continued if I didn't think they were worth it. The stats have proven they are worth doing, especially considering they don't take much time to put up. If comments were an indicator that a topic shouldn't be repeated on the site, I guess the only thing we're doing now is giveaways. Organic traffic comes in with the daily deals posts and some of that gets to crossover into our other magic content which makes them even more important and is the reason why we've been using them to also promote Brawl Haul.

    I'm sorry you don't like them, but as I've said in the past they are useful for the site. I hope you can understand now more than ever why this is the case.

    Huh, really?  I've had pretty good success with Heimer.  I've found that Heimer is a great tempo generator as he turns your spells into minions, so you can draft spell heavy decks.  He works particuarly well with Demacia, since Demacia has a lot of spells that generate units a well so you can double down on spells/removal.

    i tried it for the new decks that you could play but you have to have a second person to play against new cards and decks but didnt they say we could play against ai?

    I don't remember hearing about trying out new decks.  But I was able to open my packs I just had to wait until after 1pm.  I haven't recieved Nemsy yet but my fireside gathering doesn't end for another hour or so.

    Oh I understand they are tempo inefficient, and not saying my experience is holistic of everyone else's.  I try to make sure my deck isn't top heavy, but it's just problematic when you have non-interactive, non-counterplayable components like shroom spammers.  That much I think we can agree upon.

    Well yeah, tho fun is relative and someone can enjoy playing that style, many do according to your post :)

    I'm curious if anyone is willing to say they've had regular success going the 'shroom/Timo route.  I always fiercely avoid it since I've read comments implying it was just bad.

    I wanted to try, but havent been brave enough to do it yet, since pretty much all opponents i faced didnt do well. Also, PZ is not a great region for Expeditions anyway, thats more of a reason why i never comited to it.

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

    Can someone explain to me how the fuck someone at Blizzard thought it would be a good idea to make Raza-priest a thing again? I just started to play again because I have 0 gold right now and I want to try to play some Hearthstone again when Ashes of Outland releases, but facing this degenerate bullshit is really making me question why I'm even trying to play Hearthstone again.

  • What decks are you planning to play when the expansion launches?

    Here's the deck I wanna try the most in Wild:

    Nothing really new, but the two extra legendaries should make quite some difference. As well as The Dark Portal.
