I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the leak yesterday (and it wasn't even the biggest of the day for me). They actually did it! They changed Priest's core set! Nice timing. Since I pretty much won 2 weeks of holiday that means I will have time to work on other class core sets.
The first thing I noticed: Blizzard went into the same direction as Shadows and I for Priest's primary identity: A class that seeks to win through
The second thing I noticed, besides the fact that they didn't reverse-HoF anything is how redundant the new cards are. That is a lot of the cards have very similar effects and only varies in their numbers. Redundancy isn't a bad in and of itself as more redundancy = more consistency and more viability. However this is done at the expense of internal diversity. I don't see any "Razakus-like" combo synergies, any resurrect cards, or any Deathrattle cards. I can understand their design choices for the first two but it's also very limiting. It means they will have to print new cards for each of those themes every time they want to push them...I guess it makes sens from a €€€ perspective.
As for DH, I think the reason why we didn't see any Classic DH cards is because...they don't exist. My guess is that DH is not a true 10th class but a yearly class that will rotate alongside the Year of the Phoenix.
The comparison with Elven Archer seems is appropriate, and because of that it doesn't look 'crazy'. Gain +1 attack at the cost of taking face damage if you hit a minion. Plus it's a demon I guess, we'll have to wait and see how much that means for the class.
There is quite a bit of synergy in the class for gaining attack on the hero.. but yep it's a +1 attack Elven Archer, nothing too crazy.
Seems like a great card 5 mana 4 damage aoe is quite premium I know it affects your own units but if you trade first it's quite good to regain a board.
I agree.. next time put on the title "new expansion leaked it's name and some content for the new year is available" and put a picture of something else maybe the hearthstone spiral box or something..
I don't care about spoilers I normally look for them but other people who wanted to avoid them.. it's not possible when there's a huge banner about it..
Also for next time, although the discussion is nice and I participate in it and all try to put spoiler free content..
oh well what is done is done and there is still a big part that isn't spoiled yet! so don't worry

Think the class might get more cards than other classes to catch up this year only or will get more "neutral class cards"(think Hench-Clan Thug for rogue) than other classes.
I think they will support the class going forward.. HS is 6 years game it's time for a new class..
Elise combined with Kalista will be the deck to beat now.
Hecarin raw power was nerfed, but Hecarin spam was buffed.
Iceborn Legacy went from from decent -> garbage. They fucked up really hard here. it should, at the very least, be a Fast Spell.
Pack Mentality was a bit buffed but still has the same problem as Iceborn Legacy: being a slow card is extremely risky versus not of a big payout when it resolves.
Poro Snack -> Now it became the old Iceborn Legacy that doesn't need a target. Still not playable.
Everything else is good and overall i like those changes.

Because this site produces a lot of original and interesting content such as meta reports, card design competitions, lore summaries and personal opinion articles. And they can be viewed under the "News" section of the home page.
OK, I am not that angry about the spoilers anymore, because I would have been spoiled by some Youtube thumbnails anyways. I understand this brings a lot of traffic to the site. (Almost 200 comments at the time of writing, that might be a record) And this is why I'm suspicious that Polygon did not "accidentally" publish the leak. Tons of visitors and ad money. So yeah, shame on Polygon.
Also, it's probably my mistake that I got too much hyped up on it. You know, "decade-cementing" and all that. Next time, the best thing I can do to avoid spoilers is to just disconnect from the Internet for 2 days before any large announcements.
Can someone give some background information about the lore? Why does a Demon Hunter class run demons for instance? Are they enslaved prey or something? Or do I get the class identity upside down and they aren't hunters of demons but hunting demons?

New Demon Hunter Minion - Raging Felscreamer
Dragon Consort effect although you can't chain them cause this is not a demon.. that being said being able to play cards earlier is quite valuable.
New Demon Hunter Minion - Hulking Overfiend
Ress priest really want a word with you.
New Demon Hunter Minion - Shadowhoof Slayer
There is quite a bit of synergy in the class for gaining attack on the hero.. but yep it's a +1 attack Elven Archer, nothing too crazy.
New Demon Hunter Spell - Soul Cleave
Holy Fire seems to be removed from the classic set though.
And there's also rush in the basic set now!
New Demon Hunter Minion - Satyr Overseer
This is a quite powerful engine but it's not too crazy, 2 hp on a 3 drop is easy to remove.
New Demon Hunter Spell - Coordinated Strike
Seems really solid 3 mana deal 3,has synergy in the class and I guess they are demons as well(?) very solid all in all.
important note: finally there's rush in the basic set
New Demon Hunter Minion - Glaivebound Adept
This is a strong basic card, pretty sure it will be auto include initially on every DH deck it reminds me of Fire Elemental

Obvious question but.. what is "outcast" 1 mana silence is kinda bad so it seems to be an easy requirement to fulfill.
can't rate the card otherwise.. 1 mana cycle + effect saw play in priest and it seems good as an aggro class.
We will need to see how hard is to get "outcast"

I mean....technically speaking Illidan has a lot of synergy with the current DH cards. He creates a bunch of tokens.
Maybe they rework him into DHs new classic legendary.

I'm thinking the class may only get cards for 2 years worth of sets until it goes to wild, then maybe another class might appear.
