  • January Card Nerfs Are Live, Along With Battlegrounds Buffs - Hearthstone Patch 16.0.8

    Well, that was fast

  • New Paladin Minion - Shotbot

I would like to see some more Reborn cards. Maybe Quest Paladin could become viable :)

  • Aggro Hunter cards.

I can't seem to find decent stats on HSReplay, so I'll ask here.

Aggro Hunter is a decent budget deck, but I have some questions about some inclusions.

Many versions run Spellzerker, and maybe I'm using this card wrong, but it seems pretty pointless to me. Wouldn't Knife Juggler be a better card? It has synergy with the Leper Gnomes from the sidequest, Unleash the Hounds and Snake Trap.

Is Wolfrider ever worth it over Animal Companion? Sure overall the later is better, but it's a 1 in 3 to get the one you want (on average). And SMOrc'ing for 3 seems more consistent, albeit sometimes weaker.

Timber Wolf seems a bit weak to run 2 copies off. It's fine with Unleash and to activate Kill Command but pretty weak without that. Could Secretkeeper be a viable option, and running 6 secrets (2x Explosive Trap, 2x Snake Trap, 2x Freezing Trap)? This could even make Sunreaver Spy viable for the 2-mana spot.

Why do some people run Bomb Toss? You can't activate the bombs, unless the opponents uses and Aoe.

  • New Paladin Minion - Shotbot

A return of shielded minibot pretty much, I could see this seeing a lot of play because of all of the magnetic stuff that’s seen play here and there

Fun. Client requesting update on mobile, but won't download it yet and there's no update listed on the Play Store yet. Wish they'd at least wait until the update could be published on the respective stores. Now I can't play for a while.

  • New Warlock Minion - Chaos Gazer

Against a heavy control deck or a combo deck it’d be pretty good, since they usually have something they want to save in hand. Just thinking about this with a Brann feels dirty though

  • New Priest Spell - Dark Prophecy

I could see it being decent, seems kind of weird to print what feels more like a tempo card for a class that hasn’t had that many tempo decks throughout its history though

  • New Mage Hero - The Amazing Reno

Seems like it’d be really good for a control deck, can’t wait to see the hero power too

ngl, I completely forgot that Arena exists.

  • Hearthstone simulator that actually works and is up to date?

I was looking for this forever the other day to show off how simple the win condition for my gonk deck could be without using florist. But i couldn't find one after looking forever, all i could find was a couple reddit posts of people asking this same thing forever ago(like 5 years ago) and getting shit on in the comments by people not even giving an answer because it was supposed to be an obvious solution i guess. glad to see reddit hasn't changed, it's always been shitty.

Still though after further looking i found one that works kinda, but it only has cards from Explorers and it included some cards that didn't even exist, in hearthstone so i stayed away from that after it crashed after me tinkering with it for about 5 minutes.

Is there a simulator where i can set up a board state? Or should i just give up and try to rig one up by taking a screenshot of me fighting the innkeeper?

  • New Mage Hero - The Amazing Reno

so, you can now play [Hearthstone Card (Reno Jackson) Not Found] with [Hearthstone Card (Reno the Relicologist) Not Found] as The Amazing Reno

  • New Priest Spell - Dark Prophecy

This is a lot better than a 3-drop. It will generally create a 2/5 or a 2/6 ... those are VERY good stats for a 3 drop.

  • New Warlock Minion - Chaos Gazer

Good point! I didn't notice it specified "playable". Although it could still hit a Galakrond that isn't fully upgraded at later turns, which wouldn't be the most favorable situation.

    They need to make money.

They need to keep the game f2p viable.

So they have to balance it to achieve both aims.  If this is a one off 2800 gold expenditure we were warned about ahead of time (which we were) that's ok.  If it's 3 expacs + 8400 gold for 3 adventures every year all but the most hardcore f2p players (infinite arena etc) will struggle to stay engaged.

Sure some will spend money, but most I think would leave over time.  That's bad not only because I'd fall into the latter group, but the player base will reduce and new players will be rare.  Queue times increasing and may put the future of the game in doubt eventually.

Choas gazer - Interesting. How does this work in actuality? If this comes out at turn 4 and affects a 10 mana cost card, is this just a cheese? or is there some mechanism that ensures that it only affects cards that are playable by the opponent the next turn.

It specifically says affects only playable cards so wouldn't corrupt a 10 mana card at turn 4.

I'm less sure if it would affect a 5 mana card if opponent at 4 mana when you play it but they will have 5 mana when their turn starts.  I assume no?  Technically none of their cards are playable when you play this as it's your turn :)

  • Dragon Gonk Druid

So far i've played 8 games with this version, all casual mode, where there are people like me testing out decks, so take it with a grain of salt, but i did fight 2 priests both with Grave Rune and Convincing Infiltrator so i think it's pretty good.

All in all 8 games all wins, 3 enemies GONK'D so basically only 3 wins. Maybe need to add a pounce instead of the MCtech since that didn't seem very good, since i was trading the entire time.

If the cards work like the previous adventure-locked cards did, then you won't be able to craft them, golden or otherwise, until after the set rotates. The only way to get the cards is to buy it with 700 gold per wing, or cold hard cash of $20

  • New Mage Hero - The Amazing Reno

Hero Power might be one he got in Uldum.

  • New Priest Spell - Dark Prophecy

This will only be good for decks that are built around abusing high health minions.

One thing i didn't like about that though is that you'd be waiting so long for the next expansion with only ~35 cards give or take to keep things interesting before they dropped another 135 card set. That's why they switched over to expansions only, and now to this. They have the staff to do the work now i guess, so they can put out more content.

Well in the past we would alternate between an adventure and an expansion, and now we have an adventure and an expansion. This just feels like so much to keep up with.

I am glad I was a new player back when we alternated between adventures and expansions because things were a lot slower then and it made starting out a lot easier.

  • Galakrond's Awakening: Arena Impact

    • Chaos Gazer (4) - Fine 3 drop, and the ability is actually really good. Can disrupt future plays or remove a high value/cost card.
    • Dark Prophecy (4) - Likely to get at least an average statted 3 drop. Added flexibility of choosing which stats are best for the situation. Can have moderate high roll potential for 2/6, 3/5 or better.
    • Shotbot (5) - Shielded Minibot returns.
  • Card Nerf - Ancharrr

Didn't feel like pirates were oppressive enough.. but good nerf, now it's on par with Livewire Lance

That's the sad thing.  Lackey's provide a great battlecry, whereas the pirate you get from the ability may or may not be helpful.

It's still a pirate from you deck.. it's card draw, it got nerfed so we know how good it is..

Fiendish Rites got nerfed.  It was good, but was it worthy of the nerf?  Let alone, does that indicate that we "know how good it is"?

I mean.. people used to complain about pirate warrior having the "perfect curve" with Ancharrr so we know how powerful is the card and we don't really need to theorycraft how good it is to draw pirates from the deck..

Fiendish rites is a really good card when you can flood the board, it was quite underrated in my opinion it has a higher played win rate cause it's sort of a "burst damage" and used as a finisher when you have the board.

I"ve been playing the hell out of it in Wild with a Keleseth Zoo that I made.  And honestly, I've NEVER been able to find an opportunity to flood the board.  Almost every time I play, if I have more than 4 minions on the board, something comes along to wipe out a bunch of them.  But what I did like was that if I had a Darkshire Councilman on deck and drop that, it was an instant 4+ swing that turn.

  • 4 New Cards Revealed from Hearthstone's New Galakrond's Awakening Solo Content - Launches January 21

Well it's not really fair to label them all 'sets' when adventures have about 100 less cards than sets from packs. It adds up to a fourth set.

  • 4 New Cards Revealed from Hearthstone's New Galakrond's Awakening Solo Content - Launches January 21

Of course you can play them in standard. It's from the Year of the Dragon. Nothing different between this set of cards and those of previous adventures that included a set of cards.
