  • What We're Playing on Descent of Dragons Day 1

I already had a Paladragon deck built. It was crap but I like Dragons.

I think this expansion may have made it legit decent, if not actually good. I've only had a couple of games with it so far.

I've also tried Priest Dragon Invoke. It's fun but I think it might be terrible. At the very least needs a lot of tuning.

  • Descent of Dragons Deck Recipes For Whizbang the Wonderful

Blizzard has to make new deck recipes each expansion anyway, so having a card like Whizbang is a super easy way to get more mileage out of that effort.  I expect either adding him to Classic or a new card that does something similar.  (Perhaps a Choose One at game start to pick a deck?)

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

    Yep, it's Khadgar.

    I debuted before I debuted - Was a hero before a minion

I am two and two and two and two - 2/2 for 2 that doubles your summons

When I missile, it's a blast - His Fireblast looks like an Arcane Missile

I am the second, the second, the last - Second Mage hero, second Mage RoS legendary, final boss of RoS

  • New Combo(?)

I tried smaller combos in Galakrond Priest, but it just doesn't have the draw capacity.

If you want a combo, take something with 3 pieces or less, aka some value stuff like Wretched Reclaimer + Grave Rune + Khartut Defender (or any other value target)....or the same combo with Shadowy Figure instead of Reclaimer.

Galakrond Priest is incredibly slow and you basically need to just remove and stay alive until you can push your opponent of the board with the combo and then outvalue them.

I've considered doing additional snapshots of the cards so we could track how people feel about them over time. Not sure we'd get the votes to actually make it relevant though. Maybe if we call everyone out once a month to go revote on all the cards...

I think it could be very cool to showcase data like that.

  • Hero Cards in Arena

One time I was a rogue and my opponent was playing a warlock and I played Hallucination and was offered a Bloodreaver Gul'dan. I didn't have any demons but I picked it anyway and I destroyed him with my super OP hero power.

They need to make it so that you can't discover hero cards.

  • Day One decks - common mistakes

Deckbuilding mistake: not including Faceless Corruptor in your list.

I'm kidding; I haven't even played the guy yet myself. But it really is the Corridor Crawler of the set.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

Khadgar or Medivh, the Guardian ?

Edit: My first guess is Khadgar. btw

  • Descent of Dragons Deck Recipes For Whizbang the Wonderful

I also would like to point out that he is a terrible card if you like to win. Everything about his design challenges every aspect of playing competitively... also not getting the deck you want gets old really fast.

I wouldn't craft whizbang. You think you will use him but you won't.

  • Best answers (preferably spells) to wide boards?

you can't convert this deck into a highlander deck because you need both of Galvanizers and if you can't draw them, you can't use highlander cards.

You need to choose between highlander and Mecha'thun.

Also, If it is wild (and i see it is wild) Use only Mecha'thun, Hemet, Jungle Hunter, Galvanizer and Stitched Tracker as minions. All other cards should be hero cards and spells that costs 3 or less.

Use Stitched Tracker to find either Galvanizer and Hemet, Jungle Hunter. When you find 2 Galvanizers you will use Hemet, Jungle Hunter and in 1-4 turns (depending on your early draws) you will be able to draw your Mecha'thun.

That's the only way Mecha'thun works for Hunter, It doesn't work with other ways and this is also not a good way. Mecha'thun Hunter is hard. Not impossible but hard without so much control package.

Still; If you don't want to change your deck; at least change Master's Call with Stitched Trackers. They both doing same thing in non-beast decks and it has at least a body.

Also, If you don't want to change your deck, You can always use Toxic Arrow + Unstable Ghoul in wild.

Hmm.. these are pretty good advice.. but Master's Call draws the minion and Stitched tracker gives you a copy.. for a mecha'thun deck thinning is better than board building. Will think of that when building decks in the future though.

Ghoul + Toxic arrow, Baron geddon and Primordial Drake..Brilliant! gotta jot it all down.

Yea I guess it won't be a highlander deck even though with an Ursatron tutoring the Galvaniser it's not as impossible. Instead the deck now is standard! Yay! Turns out all I had to do was replace Quick Shot with Corrosive Breath and powershot with something else and voilà!

I still don't think Mecha'thun will work without Hemet, Jungle Hunter because there are not enough draws for hunter sadly.

    You can always try tho.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

Wow, no bites? Maybe I made it a bit too hard.

First hint: It's a minion that's had multiple appearances in the game.

  • Ragnaros

This is one of my favorites. Before the random card back option was available, this was my default.

  • [Day 1] DoD - Quest to Unleash the Tempest

    @Xarkkal

I have tried to replace Nithogg with Vessina and it acted better than Nithogg for sure ! You should absolutely consider to replace them with each other.

While Vessina helps you press more, Nithogg only works for a protection so I think Vessina fits better.

And Weaponized Wasp + EVIL Totem also can be replaceable with something in my opinion. They slow you down most of the time. That's not a must. They can stay too.

I just wanted to share my opinions and experiences with the deck. :)

  • Descent of Dragons Deck Recipes For Whizbang the Wonderful

I'm glad I wasn't the only one having this experience. I'm sure some of it was my unfamiliarity with each deck, but I used to break even with him on day one. This time I lost eight games in a row before jumping over to casual. Even there I went 2-4.

  • About Tyrande's coming back and The value Blizzard gives older players( WARNING: SALT THREAD ! )

    Quote From LyraSilvertongue

Try playing WoW for 10 years straight & having very rare tcg mounts/items that you ground out months' worth of gold for handed out on the BMAH copy pasta style like it was nothing.

I'm hardly salty over Blizzard giving away old cardbacks or heroes in HS. The only 'work' HS players put into cosmetics is pretty much summed up as "Did I spend a few dollars during this promotion?" or "Did I bother playing a few games on ranked across an entire month to get this one random card back?"

This argument pretty much holds no water in HS when compared to many of the other Blizzard games where in many instances you almost do have to make the game your 'job outside of work' to get rare, hard, or super grindy stuff sometimes.

Yeah, I’d only really understand the argument if it was actually something vaguely difficult you had to do for it. A lot of the arguments I see against Blizzard making these older cosmetics available again relies on the idea that it was in some way invalidating what they had done before to get it. It’s really only the heroic cardbacks I could understand that for, and even they barely qualify for that to me (because of how much of a joke it is it get a lot of them).

It makes sense to be upset that they’re giving out stuff you put a lot of effort into getting, but if newer players are putting in basically the same amount of effort you put into getting it, then it’s not really as meaningful of an achievement as you’re making it out to be

  • Treants vs Ancients

    Quote From Fedrion

    From wowwiki

Ancients, they are sentient as the treants but are older, more intelligent and considered by night-elves to be godlike or demigods, making them a pillar of their society/religion.

Treants, on the other hand are primitive forms of the Ancients, smaller, weaker, and not as intelligent.

Apart from that, there isn't much lore in respect of the Ancients/Treants, but most likely they are like Ents and Huorns from Tolkien's mythology.

Perfect and liketwise the most disappointing answer... :/ (Was hoping for a possibility to 'fix' my problem)

    Thanks for the Lore! :)

  • Descent of Dragons

How can't Faceless Corruptor be in top 10 ?

I personally thought that it would be in there instead of Warrior's Galakrond, Cumulo-Maximus or Amber Watcher.

  • DoD First Impressions Thread

Currently I am sitting around rank 3 to 5. Have played almost every Galakrond version I could think of.

    My conclusions are:

    1. Galakrond Tempo Rogue feels powerful with all the card draw+coin generators and lackeys.

    2. Shaman is, like others already stated busted. Nithogg and the Faceless idiot are just insane in terms of tempo. To Galakrond before activating the quest is mandatory for a successful late game.

    3. Warlock feels like the loser right now. Ofc it's too early to give up, but neither handlock nor zoolock feels strong enough in comparison to shaman (whick deck does that though?!)

    4. Tempo Galakrond Warrior feels extremely solid. Deathwing removes a lot of big stuff and if you manage to keep him alive your opponent has a big threat to deal with. With Control Warrior i don't think the galakrond package is necessary. In fact it feels more like a hindrance.

    5. With Priest I just can't shake the feeling that the potential is huge. The whole discount system through Fate Weaver gives me razakus chills. Especially with a versatile card like Kronx Dragonhoof.

6.I think the non Galakrond classes got some nice additions as well, except for paladin. The weak core set is here the biggest problem but DoD doesn't give enough support. I know Shirvallah might be strong again, but aside from that?

    7. Hunter is the class I struggle the most with in terms of new cards. Can't find a real fit for them. Maybe someone will magically discover a new archetype?! Otherwise highlander hunter will be the stronghold again. Maybe a secret deck makes the cut.

    8. Mage decks feels greedy af right now. Chenvaala hasn't been working for me. Sometimes you get a full board, but your opponent just cleares it with kronx for example. With Flamewaker in wild again Tempo oriented decks have no real midrange. But Apx will find something. That's something i am sure of!

    9. Druid... What can I say... The treant deck feels solid. Not exciting, but yeah... solid... Dragon Druid on the other hand feels Great! I have taken the shell of nomi druid and what can I say?! What it better than a board of 7 big dragons granted through Ysera, Unleashed? Exactly! Nearly endless boards like that, thanks to Elise and flobbi. Ysera is a big finisher. With the possibility of taunts its even stronger when compared to Nomi in my opinion. On top of that here body is a bigger threat than Nomi himself.

Man i'm having so much fun right now!!

The first week of a new expansion is really the best!

I hope you all enjoy it as well!

  • Treants vs Ancients

Perfectly fine with that answer on a Hearthstone basis, but lorewise (and personally speaking) I'd hoped for a 'better' answer.
