  • Descent of Dragons Launch Survival Guide - Everything You Need To Know

    1 HOUR!

ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN! CHOO-CHOO!

  • Day One decks - common mistakes

This is really awesome.  I have been playing since Un'Goro and I am probably still doing some of these mistakes on day 1 of the xpac.  I am addicted to trying everything.  It's like making alts in world of warcraft.  I make these alts which makes me a jack of all trades but master of none >.<

Thanks! I have a Mac, not sure if it is PC only or will work with Mac also...

  • Best answers (preferably spells) to wide boards?

There's always the tried and true Primordial Drake which nobody has mentioned already, depends on the size of boards though, and of course it being 8 mana, but if you are talking about crushing walls it might be a good thing to bring up.

Alternatively i run Baron Geddon a lot for extra AOE in most of my decks, it's usually good for cleanup after already playing a boardclear on the previous turn.

The new hunter legendary dragon, Veranus isn't a spell itself but it combines very well with most of hunter's removal tools: unleash, explosive trap, Desert Spear, lynxes, etc. The hunter  class isn't traditionally good at dealing with wide boards so your options are pretty limited. There's also Crushing Walls if you're running Zul'jin anyway.

Not much gained from Veranus in this particular deck but Im seeing it's use..

_Crushing Walls could replace one of the Deadly Shot  to get the deck closer to being a highlander deck... Then switch one Master's Call for a Flare.. include Zephrys the Great and  maybe Reno..

-Nine Lives is huge in this deck though.. it's extremely versatile- draw/heal/removal and rescource generation unsure if any card could replace it.

The balance of spells and minions would get destabilised by these changes but I just love experimenting.. Highlander C'thun Hunter.. I dig it.

  • ALBATROSS!!!

Problem with adding her to pure pally, is if she doesn't get drawn before some of the "pure pally" triggered cards. I've seen a few pure pally deck Ideas, and they are not that bad, but one thing is common throughout them all, not 1 single Neutral card in them.

Great tips. And just a small expansion on your first point - your control deck is probably not going to do well. You don't know what you're trying to control yet. If you can accept that and just love playing Galakrond priest, then go for it!

  • question about wild packs

An important factor is, if you aim to (allmost) complete standard sets.

Example: you buy 10 packs of Four different wild expansions. In return you get 4 legendarys (1600 dust - one legendary of your choice) and a little extra.

If, on the other hand, you buy 40 DoD packs, you are guaranteed 1, on average 2 legendarys that will be usefull for the next 16 months. Those cards in general have more value for Standard players.

Given that you would probably need less than 4000 gold to get those 4 wild legendarys, the calculation allmost evens out. But if your goal is large collection and not getting specific legendarys, DoD packs are defintily the better option.

If You’re on a budget and need those meta defining cards, wild packs are the safer gamble

On a general note, i would get those wild legendarys! But not so close to the expansion. Just save a couple gold down the road and open some wild packs from time to time. Consider keeping those cards if they are any good since wild brawls are a thing and you Never know what will Happen with all those old cards in the future.

Looks really good and I love the C'thun support  for hunter. Having tried Emeriss+C'thun hunter, I must say that would've been useful.

Im confused by C'boom though.. how is it buffed and does it give one of each existing lackey? One of each played lackey? Those on board?

I gave C'BOOM! Rush so that if its condition is not met it can still have some impact. Each existing Lackey is added to your hand.

I'm not sure of a better wording for C'BOOM!'s effect, so if you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

I personally can understand what it does but I too didn't understand how we can buff it. Only with handbuff like Armagedillo and the others like your Enigmatic Machination ? Because all of other guys will buff C'Thun instead.

I would like to see some cards that buffs C'BOOM when it is in the deck but its ok i guess, It looks like there are enough support to make it 10/10

Also to add to the thread i think the best plan(and this may seem kinda obvious to veterans but no really newer players) is always wait to craft anything. If you see a new deck you want to play and it's 90% new cards from the expansion, and it has a really high win rate and everyone is saying how good it is, and there is literally no way it can be beaten, it's a trap bro, it will be countered in the next two days and you spent all your dust on something that the new hotness beats very easily.

Crafting will actually be even harder if they are going to release 35 new standard legal cards later on.....

Is that confirmed? I thought they would be specifically used in the adventure.

I feel like they wouldn't just make 35 new cards only to be used in an Adventure...and if they did they'd specify that in the announcement.

It looks like they're trying to find new ways to shake up the mid-expansion meta (much like Doom in the Tomb did for Uldum)

Thank you for this unselfish writeup. :)

I really resonate with some of your points, nicely packed tips that could really help some people with experimenting. Deckbuilding is one of the main sources of fun to me, and still a lot of people quickly get discouraged to play with their collection, when nothing seems to work.

You have to develop a feeling of when a deck is 'clunky' and to make neccessary sacrifices to make it better. Those tips should provide a good starting guide, nice work.

  • Anti Galakrond/quest Tech, for control priest.

It's too bad Dinomancy isn't in Standard anymore. Now there's a useless HP to give to your opponent. Still, something to mess around with in Wild for the memes. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • About Tyrande's coming back and The value Blizzard gives older players( WARNING: SALT THREAD ! )

Yea, you are right about Blizzard not being morally obligated to do it. However, it should be said that it should be in their interest to appael as the „good guys" to their customers. This entire thread is an example of them having frustrated some players.

I know that my argumentation could be better (my knowledge about marketing and Brand-Customer-Relationship is mediocre at best), but I wanted to understand and maybe explain where the OPs viewpoint is coming from: he apparently is a collector-type of player, which means that he values things such as rarity/exclusivity and so. And this „free-giveaway“ takes this away from him and other players that think alike. The OP, at least in my Opinion, is in the righ to be upset.

I think Blizzard should've made her available like they did it before, by a limited time offer. This way everyone gets the chance to obtain her without taking this „excludivity" from older Owners. I know it seems just about the same as just getting it, but trust me. A little bit of engagement and this „special expierence“ are very important to a specific group of players (which are probably also most likely those who would buy special skins in the future).

So, that's pretty much my Standpoint on this whole topic. I hope I could add something to this discussion.    :)

  • when there are some minions on your side of board ("it is easy with galakrond shaman because invoke effect of the cards will summon 2/1 elemental with rush because galakrond's hero power is: Summon a 2/1 elemental with rush.") use shudderwock, it will change other guys to shudderwock because of Faceless Corruptor's battlecry. and then barista's battlecry that is cast from shudderwock or bogslosher's battlecry that is also cast from shudderwock will add shudderwocks to your hand.

    so boggy..

sidenote: don't forget to use faceless corruptor, bog slosher and barrista before playing shudderwock.

edit: btw; i skipped deck guide and wrote the comment directly then read it he also wrote it on the guide, Why did you really asked ? lol I feel like a stupid for explaining it again. :D
