the point is mostly the general idea of what 8-drops are supposed to do...which is usually be a big beatstick that gives you instant value, meaning any other 8-drop will have to do better than that or else just be ignored by virtue of being inferior to an already existing option.

Also I'm not to keen on a card whose value is determined by RNG  to be a constant factor in the game. It doesn't feel good to get dicked by the classic 50/50.

Either way, I guess we'll find out for ourselves once this goes live.

If N'Zoth is coming back, I really hope that the old Reno and Kazakus come to standard too then...cause the shenanigans would get real.

Cause everyone gets access to them temporary anyway, why not make it super intense! Imagine the numbers of reno decks we would see in standard, and Reno decks has actually been seen at early years,I don't care if we get control -ish  games.

If we get the old Reno Jackson We are gonna be rich.

I don't want to sound greedy or unreasonable, but I would have loved to have the chance to, let's say, keep one of those 23 cards (maybe not even a Legendary if you don't want to) , being that an encouragement for actually investing into Wild. I mean, something like SN1P-SN4P but for Wild.

I'm not against that, but how would that realistically be implemented? Would it be randomized like the free legendaries on expansions launch? I don't think there'S currently a possibility to let people select a card to keep out of multiple ones

The problem: Let's assume that I am at rank 4 now. It's a matter of months before I reach Rank 20 through careful planning of my win/loss ratio, dropping 4 ranks at a time. Then I lose some more by conceding, to adjust my MMR accordingly, only to be matched against the poor souls who happened to be naive and ascend to the Rank 20 floor. My strat now is to win one match and concede the next or two and guess what; my MMR is low enough to be matched against those "Mark of Hakkar" players that are kind enough to greet me when they see me and are a delight to play against! On top of that, I farm gold faster than having to win an Archivist Elysiana mirror match! Only when I see another player like me (trust me when I say that they are easy to spot) I concede, but only if I was slow enough to press the concede button before they did. You would be surprised to learn that it actually hurts me more to win against those better win-rate guys, so I have learned how to concede in a blink of the eye (at the moment just before I hear the name of my hero, if taking reaction time into consideration)! What I've learned through this process: I'm actually better at assessing the correct match for me than the Hearthstone matchmaking algorithm!

Do people actually do this though? Why would you spend 4 months deliberately not gaining ranks only so you can continue to throw games to stay at rank 20? This scheme seems so laughably inefficient on its face that it hadn't even occurred to me that someone would try it. If we apply occam's razor to the phenomenon of players with golden portraits/expensive decks at low ranks, the far simpler explanation is that they're bad players who play a lot. This, incidentally, also goes a long way toward explaining their terrible attitudes.

I agree with what both of you have been saying.

Because hearthstone is a collectable card game new players are just in general going to lose to players with a decent collection. But just because it is fair as it works now doesn't mean that the new player experience couldn't be better.

I think a good solution is to change the way ranks 50-26 work so that you are able to lose stars, but as to not discourage players you would do what they do with the silver ranks in Magic: Arena and make one win=2 stars and a lose=1 star so that you can have a perfect 50% winrate and still climb, and even if your winrate is slightly negetive you can still climb. but this would also give you more time to adapt to the game and get a stronger collection.

The main issue is that no matter what you do there will always be people farming gold from newbs at the lowest rank they can get to. so even if you made it so that players couldn't get back to rank 16 after getting to 15 then you have the exact same problem happening from 15-10. so the best thing you can do is better prepare the new player(s) for the tough climb.

I can understand that Jaina's hero power is Fireblast and all but this portrait doesn't resemble her almost at all.

judging solely on how much competitive play he sees in wild right now, I don't think he would impact the game that much.

You won't bend all 8 drops around him if he isn't a super strong card.

The other issue I have is that I'm not seeing any suggestions being made that don't already exist to a degree. Farming low levels is discouraged because you have to lose and you miss out on higher tier ranked rewards. Blizzard already implemented a beginner's ranked system specifically to give new players a kiddie pool to paddle around in without having to face veteran players with full collections. Obviously any new player who passes the threshold onto the real ladder is going to experience a bit of a rough patch. I think that's unavoidable.

wouldn't go that far because every future 8-drop would have to compare to him favorably and we'D be back to square one. Just because he's no longer an auto include doesn't mean he won't limit design space (which is the reason he went in the first place)

If Rag hadn't rotated then Lich King probably wouldn't have seen nearly as much play (probably only in HAdronox Druid and alongside rag in greedy control decks)

Ragnaros is actually not that great except in Big decks, and N'zoth should be high on your crafting list, he is totally worth 1600 dust.

    And Achievements? Nothing? So Sad....

New deck tracker called "Firestone", from Overwolf, has achievements built into it.  If that's something you're interested in, they have a few that would make for interesting challenges.  One I kind of laughed at was to have a full board of nothing but 7 Snowflipper Penguins. And that might have been in the Tombs of Terror solo content.  Good luck with that!

I've been mainly using it for tracking what bosses I've faced and beaten in solo content, and it also tracks your pity timers if you have it running while opening packs!  Tracks how many more packs before a guaranteed legendary and epic.

If I have a 50 gold quest will it still be able to re-roll into a 60 gold one?

will all re-rolls result in 50 gold quests, or is that only true for the quests that are already higher than 50?

Quest Re-roll is something I often do to get "harder" quests with higher rewards, not easier and lower rewards!  WTF?!?!

I really love when a 50g quest turn into a better reward quest, even if it's 60g.

I love when win 2 games turn into a 100g one, or classic pack ones.

Man I am jealous, my shaman is only a little more than 520 but it is my favorite class. I don't usually grind for rewards but I will be playing a lot of ranked to get the new shaman hero.

I don't know why people just complain about quests related to some tribes, it's very easy

Play X Pirates: Make a warrior or rogue deck full of pirates

Play X  Murlocs/Elementals: Shaman deck full of murlocs/elementals

Play x Beasts: Hunter deck full of beasts

Play x Demons: Warlock deck full of demons......

    and so on

Play x class cards, just make a deck full of that class cards

With like 2 games you can complete those quests, in wild casual/ranked, just 10 minutes to complete, even less.

I assume it's mostly because they have to go out of their way to build a trash deck for it and can't use the time on ranked. If you get a regular quest (like play 30 class cards) you can just use a proper deck and take it to ladder until you're done. Can't really build a functioning deck with a whole lot of pirates (although Murlocs would definitely work)

I wonder what the ratio will be though

23 cards, two of which are neutral legendaries. That leaves us with 21 cards. We'lll have to assume that class cards (if there even are any) are equally split, meaning we'lll get either 9 or 18, leaving us with at least 3 more neutral cards (presumably legendaries, but who knows)

Maybe they'll do a 1 class legendary and 1 other impactful cards.

I also wonder if they considered the entirety of Wild or just the older sets (meaning we wouldn't see year of the Mammoth set on the basis that they're still in recent memory)

Either way, if they bring back Deathstalker Rexxar I'm out. Not gonna go through that one again, even in a limited event.
