Soul Seeker seems interesting. Can it work against Shudderwock? Can it work against Big Decks in general? Seems a wait and see, Albatross (? That bird that shuffled 2 tokens) was good for a time but it's not used in forever so IDK.
Either way, every time I tell a card is going to be good/bad/work, it ends up being the opposite.
Soul Seeker is tactically priced at 5 to ensure that this cannot outright counter big priest in wild. Basically this is a Mutanus for decks rather than hand, and at 5 mana its likely going to see play because its just pure disruption that sometimes wins you the game. Imagine using this against druids and highrolling one of their big stuff out. That might seal the game right there.
Honestly, might just be broken and polarizing enough that I can see this being nerfed to 6 or 7. Baffling that its a non legendary too.
Tight-Lipped Witness will only see play if secret mage was a thing. Being so specific a counter card, and only against 4 classes, I'd expect this to never see any light of day. But then again it is the epic of the set, and as such is constitutionally required to be shit.
Afterlife Attendant will simply never see play. Why drop a spidertank when there's tons of other spidertanks that do something on board. At very best you can make an argument for this in XL decks like beast hunter and that's about it.
Play this in ramp druid. Play jailer on turn 6, drop double Naga Giants and see if they can freeze or destroy board, and chances are good they can't do shit and proceeds to concedes. The paltry fact that the card destroys your deck can be mitigated somehow by cards like Kazakusan, or just plain nothing because at that point you'll only ever lose to stall or destroy effects, something not every class has or every deck wants to play.
A little worried because as of late hearthstone seems a lot like 'draw this and win', more rockpaperscissors than actually playing anything meaningful. Hopefully its just me.
Soul Seeker is sort of bad, but then you're giving your opponent a sort of bad card to draw later in the game. It's so much weaker than Theotar. They really should have nerfed that card to 6-mana before releasing this. I'm curious what sort of wacky interactions people can come up with though.
I don't think Tight-Lipped Witness will see play. The effect is just too passive, and generally you want to be triggering your opponents secrets in a methodical way that doesn't put you behind. It's best for closing out a game when you don't want a secret to proc, but you're not going to include this card in your deck just to be a dead card 95% of the time.
Afterlife attendant might just be good enough to see play. Playing it on a board full of trades basically means all your infuse cards are ready to go. It's just a question of whether that's actually worth including two vanilla 3/4.
The conditions are daunting at 7, but the payoff is amazing. Probably mostly a card for shaman or druid because all other classes either cant draw well or can't infuse their cards fast enough for it to matter. The fact that this is a better Vilespine Slayer on default and can get better already tells us its one of the sets better cards.
Imagine this with macaw in shaman. That bird might actually get nerfed one day wink* wink*
No announcement trailer this time? No singing taurens, no nothing? Im slightly disappointed. Are we actually going to advance the plot at all?
But cards;
Murder Accusation - Can't see where this can fit in to be honest. Rogue rarely plays control cards that can't also strike face and most of their assassinate options are attached to minions. On top of the fact that rogue doesn't really play control at all. Maybe secret rogue? but thats the lowest of the low right now.
Dew Process - Its an aggro druid card. Or its a massive anti control card, either way this card has potential. But its the sort of card that'll never be good because team5 will immediately nerf it if it is. Its sole purpose here is to either lose you the game or make your oppponent quit in disgust
Totemic Evidence - Potentially a standout card because its a 1 mana flood board and as such combos well with cards like Bloodlust, Evolve, or Bioluminescence but lets be honest here; its made entirely for Windshear Stormcaller, as though as totem shaman in wild actually needs any help.
I think it's too broken. The mana stops mattering after a certain amount of turns, and the monsters on the field is of most importance. If you don't have any outs you simply lose the game just like that. I think it should have an errata where ir states you can only have max 2 cards other than itself. Cuz they got ways to protect their nexus, they just gonna stall you out and then use it just like that when I have an op board set up and basicly no cards left in hand. My only out is deny.
It will take you some time to learn how to play around The Ruination, but it's very doable with just about any deck.
One of the key skills in the game is knowing when to just say, "Nope, I'm good." And then not play anything else onto the board. This forces them to either tap below 9 mana to respond to your board, or else just lose their turn and face your open-attack. (Open attack is when you attack immediately at the open of your turn with the attack token). It's actually quite awkward to find a good time to play Ruination (if you're the one playing it) - you have to kill enough things to make it worth it, but you also have to do it when your opponent doesn't have much mana or cards left. This is why the Ruination player will often "open pass" on his attack turn - he's trying to get you to play an additional unit into his Ruination. It's almost always correct in that situation to just say, "OK, let's just skip this turn then," and then end the turn and Open Attack into them.
Bottom line - the way you beat control decks who have The Ruination is to force them to have to use mana and go below 9 mana, so they cannot use it anymore. Or else force them to use it by threatening lethal damage, leaving them very little mana to do anything else on that turn. Then you just reload the board afterward and kick their teeth in.
Deathwarden, just with Secrets instead of Deathrattles. Same stats, same cost, same rarity, same type of effect. It's even a mini-set card. Like Deathwarden, I think Tight-Lipped Witness is pretty unlikely to see play. Any counter card that is that targeted and doesn't dismantle the thing it's countering isn't good enough.
Aye. I've added a whole set of clarifications now to the article, since it can be one confusing keyword for players. Having Raid Boss Onyxia for a while did help with that knowledge.
If both players use The Jailer and Bolf, and neither has untargeted hard removal to get rid of the opponent's Bolf, won't it force a stalemate where neither player can win before the 45 turn limit kicks in? If it ever reaches meta status in Wild (at 10 mana we might hope not, but it can happen with druid, who incidentally has no reliable way to remove an immune Bolf), then that will lead to a lot of frustrating 'ends' to games.
Someone clarified on a Twitter thread that taunt minions effectively lose taunt when they go immune so that's a minor saving grace. It's one of those polarizing cards that IF it's playable it's going to be REALLY good. I could see Mage running some kind of insane deck with multiple Solid Alibi.
