Not to sound like a catastrophist, but this doesn't look good for Hearthstone let alone Blizzard as a whole (which hasn't looked good in years). Starcraft 2 hasn't had support in years, Overwatch 1 servers are being shutdown for Overwatch 2 which has a very predatory Battle Pass, Diablo Immortal is rife with microtransactions, Warcraft 3 was Refunded, Heroes of the Storm was put on maintenance mode even with a very dedicated player base, and World of Warcraft hasn't reported its subscriber numbers in years with better and better MMO's/other games coming out.
Hearthstone (the card game not Battlegrounds) hasn't had a substantial, meaningful change/addition since Demon Hunter was added. With more and more Battle Passes being added into Blizzard games I sense that long time players of any title will eventually just quit. Additionally support has moved from actual Hearhstone to Battlegrounds, which is a smart business decision, but it leaves the rest of us in the dust. Four expansions a year are coming, whether it be within the next two years or three, they are coming. Once that happens, myself and I'm sure other whales and long timers will just quit.
Dean leaving is a huge kick in the nuts to Hearthstone players, he's been the most transparent and open developer thus far. His weekly AMA's were always insightful and at the very least let us express our concerns with the game.
I don't know what I'm trying to say. I remember audibly saying "Good" when it was announced that Dean was gonna take lead on Hearthstone, and I don't know if anyone else can adequately fill those shoes.
I would bet it has nothing to do with the BG battle pass. In corporate timelines, it's way too soon to determine the success or failure of that gambit.
For me, this is extremely sad news. I'm sorry that Dean had too little time as game director to implement his vision for the future of Hearthstone. I believed that he could make the game much better. Thanks to his Q&A, we learned a lot of details and insights about the development of the game. It was so important to the community. I just hope this is his own decision and not the consequences of the failure of the BG Battle Pass. So sad that Blizzard is losing such experienced professional designers. Now I'm worried about the future of Hearthstone again.
Thanks Dean and good luck. Hope remaining HS Team can carry the "communication with community" torch for you and it will not decline. Good luck in your next project.
This really came out of nowhere, especially because he just recently became game director. I wonder who will take his place. Oh, and RIP regular Q&A's.
What a way to end the week. Plenty of folks have been leaving Blizzard over the past few years so I'm never surprised when I see leaving announcements on Fridays, but this one was a little unexpected, but also not entirely.
Dean hasn't been as active recently and when you see activity drop, there's usually a good reason for it. He's also been on the Hearthstone team for an eternity and at some point, you do want to move on.
Theotar does not allow you to choose ANY card. It picks 3 at random from both hands. then swaps them. sometimes I'm forced to give them something good for something not great. It requires More hand reading and has less stats than if a big minion gets devoured. It's balanced imo.
The only significant thing this brawl brought up is to take away that one free pack per week away from us. And at a time where we're supposed to be saving for the midset too. As though as any self-respecting individual would actually blow 1000 gold or godforbid, real money runestones, on a game, which incidentally requires wild cards as well.
There's no reason why they couldn't just do a normal brawliseum with the usual free first ticket, or just scrap heroic brawliseum altogether because it seems to only ever appeal to players who dont need the rewards anyway.
Oh well, the sooner the next brawl comes along the better.
Adding to your list of possible bugs: my Goldshire Gnoll keeps Muck-Pooling into itself. Have you seen this?
Its not really a bug, its just how its coded. Evolve will always give you a minion higher costed than itself, but since gnoll is already 10 mana and there's no 11 mana minion in standard, it then reverts to the list of the closest mana cost, which is 10. So it allows for the gnoll to evolve into itself.
Stupid, but that's how it works. If there's a 11 cost minion in standard's future, then that will be what gnoll will evolve into.
Small updates here and there, mainly added the section on Book of Mercenaries at the end of the article. Matt London really had some special insights to share while working on that specific bug, talk about sudden inspiration.
Edit: Also more on the topic of Secret Sinstone/Master Nguyen interaction, plus a couple of extra links.
Yep, apparently not. I've added a separate paragraph about it, there's been a lot of reports so the devs must be aware one way or another. Perhaps we'll have to wait until the next major client patch.

I will miss those Q&A recaps!
Rewards Track: Current progress 6.0
Hit level 100 today, and selected Uther as my reward skin, since I recently noticed that Paladin is the class where I have the highest number of wins.
Justice!
Oddcracker Armor Druid
Certainly not since the Earthen Scales nerf (which I guess happened?

Updated 12-Win Decks To Play for This Week’s Tavern Brawl - Wild Heroic Brawliseum
Strongly disagree. I've got 10-3, 9-3, 8-3, and 12-1. Definitely worth playing for experienced players.

Also, don’t play it if you do spend real money on the game. There are much better things to spend tha money on.
Updated 12-Win Decks To Play for This Week’s Tavern Brawl - Wild Heroic Brawliseum
As a Wild-only player, I'd like this brawl to become a regular game mode. Would also be nice to have it for Standard and Classic though.

Never play this tavern brawl unless you spend real money on this game. Its 99% of the time not worth it. Just a heads-up
Firestone - 12 Wins OTK Crowley
This deck is slow. It doesn't have enough draw to get your OTK, and its tools works only against board based decks.
I've met 3 OTK in my first 4 turns, and lost to them.
Not recommended.
Nozdormu Continues Investigating Murder at Castle Nathria - Special Hearthstone Quest and Decks for September 2022
Went into Casual with a Control Shaman (threw out Kael for Noz). Procced just once - against a Priest - but I won all three so that's nice.

Whose got the most Achievement Points! Bragging Rights right here!
16,851 ... seems about right since I don't play as much and hunt achievements even less.
