  • Whose got the most Achievement Points! Bragging Rights right here!

    Hey guys,

Just a fun little forum post where we can chat about those useless Achievement points everyone has in their journal these days.

I'm currently sitting on 22035 achievement points, which I'd assume is around the average as all my achievement sections are sitting around 50 - 60% completion.

Lets see who has the highest number and the bragging rights on OoC!

  • Marvel SNAP Has a Release Date - The Game is Coming October 18th for PC and Mobile

I'm so hyped for the release of this.

  • Two More Anime-Inspired Skin Bundles Have Arrived to Hearthstone's Shop Alongside New Wild Bundles

It would be cool if T5 got an actual anime artist to create anime heroes, like how MTG has had anime Planeswalkers.

  • The Limit Of Memeing

So I was able to get to rank 1 Diamond and maintain a pretty healthy winrate with entirely off meta decks.

But it takes a pretty hard-core person to deal with the onslaught of tryhards in what is turning out to be a pretty unpleasant line up of top tier decks.

Still waiting to see what the next balance patch will bring with things so turbo right now, it's very rare that it feels like you're actually playing a card game and more so Russian roulette where you want to brain yourself.

Still memes are memes and I did pretty well despite all those factors. I'll try again next meta after a very healthy patch.

Thank the lord! I was starting to have night terrors after they went one day without pushing cosmetics.

  • Raid Leader, A Custom Hearthtsone Format.

This seems really cool! The only issue I have is that it doesn't seem clear what exactly the goal of the mode is and how it would offer different deckbuilding opportunities that aren't already offered by gamemodes like Duels (a variant of most of these Hero Powers could find their way into Duels, and Duels already gives players the ability to play with synergies/passives/hero powers that change how each class plays). The timers and 50 health difference do kind of change things, but it isn't clear why that would feel very different to play (other than that with 50 Health aggro decks don't work as well). Restricting a deck to one legendary also isn't really that interesting in Hearthstone since it basically stops you from playing good control minions and has almost no impact on Aggro decks. I think you need to consider what unique types of gameplay this mode could encourage and go more wacky with the deckbuilding and gameplay rules. Here's a few examples of what that could look like that I've brainstormed:

    1. Dual-class but with no neutrals, this is also somewhat similar to duels though so maybe not that unique.

    2. Heros create their own cross-class classes, for example Flurgl could have "you may put Murlocs and cards that mention murlocs from any class into your deck," and Antonidas could have "You may put any Fire spells and mage minions into your deck when deckbuilding."

    3. You create a lineup of 2 (or maybe 3) Heros each with their own deck for each combat and battle them against your opponent with Pokemon rules (when one of your heroes dies you pick another one to play, and get a new hand, deck, and life total, until you defeat all of your opponent's Heroes).

    4. You could play into the idea of Raid Bosses more and give each Hero "phases" that unlock based on either dropping below a certain health total, reaching a certain turn number, or fulfilling a Quest requirement (sort of like Questlines but hopefully more fun).

Overall, I think the idea of adding a Raid Leader mode to Hearthstone would be really cool, and I think if you iterate more and focus on what gameplay dreams are most exciting to you, you'll make something interesting and engaging that feels totally unique from what Hearthstone currently has to offer.

  • Books

I just finished Timefulness, by M Bjornerud, and it was well worth the hours. Part geology textbook, part meditation on the human relationship with time, and plenty entertaining.

Linkblade, I thought His Dark Materials was pretty great (so much better than any of the TV/film adaptations), though the third one was not the strongest of the set. Curious to hear what you think.

  • Marvel Snap Developer Discord Recap #11 - Global Launch Details, Post-Pool 3 Experience, Character Bios, & More!

    Quote From sule

October was always going to be a five week season: we've seen them move season starts to the second Tuesday before, and they're on record saying that some seasons will be five weeks to stay in line with the months.

Ah, okay, must have missed that information. Still kinda weird, but they have their reasons...

Hasn't dampened my enthusiasm to play Snap, by the by. Just found it to be an odd decision. The drama with the Nexus Events hurt, but they ultimately made the right choice there (i.e: burn that bitch to the ground lol). Perhaps this could still be my new card game of choice, given my diminishing opinion of Hearthstone.

  • One Last Turn - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Congratulations to R, our final winner of Season 5!

Don't fret, we'll be back before you know it. In the mean time, I suggest looking into other custom projects in-and-around OutofCards: give feedback, leave some likes, and/or maybe start making a custom class or expansion of your own! I would also provide feedback to us, regarding how we run the competitions. You can do so here. We're hoping this is our opportunity to make some changes, after passing on it a couple times now. Let us know if there's anything you'd like to see different...including perhaps how we can acquire more people to compete with lol.

Hopefully we'll see you all for Season 6 :)

I find that answer really strange, tbh. I had thought October would be a "beta" season (meaning that all its rewards are going to be made available to new players later, like they've said all beta season rewards will be), so the answer, in my opinion, should have been that, and not "Well, you get an extra week, so..." October was always going to be a five week season: we've seen them move season starts to the second Tuesday before, and they're on record saying that some seasons will be five weeks to stay in line with the months. The November season will still be four weeks: it'll start on the 8th and go until December 6th.

I do agree that it makes more sense to launch the game closer to a new season starting, but maybe they want to make sure there aren't any unexpected bugs with the season launch that interfere with the global launch. And yeah, considering that they've said that ALL beta rewards will be available to new players after launch, it seems strange to start some players halfway through a season.

I'm holding onto the idea that October will be considered a "beta" season, and November will be the first True Season, meaning that all the rewards from October will be made available later anyway. At the same time, I feel like they would have said that if it were the case. Maybe I need to carefully word a question on the Discord to get more clarification.

  • Tales From Hearthstone Battlegrounds - Smuggled Nether Dragons With Sire Denathrius

First time going dragons this season I got first and the Legendary Quest chain completed.

Not as much finesse as other builds and thus easy to dominate among lower ranks.
The hardest part is finding your triples to make room for higher tier dragons.

I agree! I mean, it makes sense, since the cards literally say "shuffle" into your deck, but it kind of makes those cards more powerful than they already are. I noticed this issue long ago after playing Lorekeeper Polkelt. He arranges your deck for you, then your opponent shuffles something in, and your plan is shot to pieces.

To be fair, this information will not reach probably majority of Battlegrounds players, so even if some might intentionally try to pick Heroes to match the requirements, in a random lobby, there is a HUGE chance that someone will screw it up, intentionally or not.

  • Marvel Snap Developer Discord Recap #11 - Global Launch Details, Post-Pool 3 Experience, Character Bios, & More!

Too late now, I guess, but I would have made the global release day coincide with a new month/Season. Just set it for November 1st: the rewards from October aren't going anywhere - they get added to the various Pools later on - and we don't have to deal with an add-on week to compensate. Is November now going to be a 3-week Season to reset the timeline, will it overlap with the October Season, or will all Seasons from now on be pushed a little outside their month?

Seems like a situation that could have been easily avoided. Everyone clamoring for the game would have to wait two more weeks, sure, but it's still earlier than most expected and I don't think anyone would have seen the November 1st start-date and been upset. "Okay, starts with the new Season; that makes sense." As it is now a fifth week of October's Season still has new players behind the 8-ball, as they only have roughly three weeks to work toward the pass instead of a full month like normal.

Wouldn't have been an issue at all if-not for the battle-pass system in place, but I digress.

  • Weird/Unexpected/Possibly Bugged Interactions?

Maybe it's only me, but I hate the situation when you dredge and your opponent plays something like a Curse of Agony or a Psychic Scream, and it not only shuffles new cards in your deck, but also shuffles the entire deck.

  • It Would Seem That Buddies Still Secretly Remain in Hearthstone Battlegrounds - The 25th Rare 'Hidden' Quest Reward

Hmmmm, but the question remains if the golden Buddie will be the best reward in every scenario. And if the average player were to get Partner if Crime, they'd have to tab out of game to google if the buddie is even that good for the hero they playing. Maybe ppl will just pick it regardless of the above coz it's such a rare quest.

  • Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Recent Card Changes, Including Wildheart Guff and Defend the Dwarven District

While I'm happy with all the nerfs, I do feel Blizzard could've added 1 or 2 additional targets, or better yet, they should've buffed Demolition Renovator coz locations are just too OP 😅
