I agree with you. I believe that time-limited exclusivity should be kept and not re-offered. I only started in 2017 but I do not whine about not getting the older card backs. It's not Blizzard's fault that I missed the earlier ones.
I didn't think to screenshot it, but I had an amazing fast game earlier. I was playing beast hunter and queued against mech hunter, I was on coin.
Opponent played mecharoo and \I did have springpaw but that obviously wouldn't do anything really meaningful so I took my chances and coined hyena hoping it would stick. Which it did. Opponent just heropowered and hit face for his t2 and I took advantage trading my springpaw+lynx into his mecharooroo and hit face for 6. Turn 3 opp plays ursatron, I get huffer from ac and trade to hit face for 8 with hyena. Turn 4 opp can't do much more than play some card and hp, I dire frenzy my hyena, hit face for 11 and I hate myself a lot right now. My opp does too and concedes at 5 health.
I love this change. I enjoy playing burgle rogue for those crazy combos you can sometimes pull off, even though it's not the most consistent deck. When I'm burgling and cue into another rogue, I just groan (and concede, if I'm in casual). The downside is that you're less likely to get synergy (Kirin Tor Mage plus a secret, for example, or whirlwind plus execute), but the cross-class possibilities are endless. Imagine grabbing a Blackhowl Gunspire and a Volcano!.
You cannot see ancient cities in their glory days because they don't exist anymore; it's not about access but the thing you want to access no longer being there. The card backs still exist: they're in everyone's client, otherwise your opponent wouldn't be able to see them. A card back isn't a physical item, it's a piece of digital cosmetics that you are denied access to unless there is an unlock flag in your account on Blizzard's server.
Apparently you thought the unlocking would be a one-time opportunity. Blizzard never stated that as far as I know, although in the first years that was how things were. If you're disappointed that they're not as exclusive as you assumed they would be, that's fine, but not all old players will feel the same. As someone who has most of the old card backs, I'm entirely fine with newer players getting another chance to unlock them.
By the way, I think this is the second or third time an old card back was rewarded in a brawl, certainly not the first.
Well, my immunity to saltiness is now gone, thanks to this new shitty season and the end of the last shitty season.
Fuck this shitty fucking piece of shit mother fucking game.
Haven't won a single game since the beginning of the season, folks. All losses. Not a single win. If you're a nerd that wants to reply to me saying, "you should tech for this" and "show us some of your replays" you can saveit. I know how to tech, I know when I make mistakes, and I am so fucking tired of players who treat others like idiots with their shitty advice. So don't try to help me, not looking for help. Just really pissed off at this piece of shit game which I think does not deserve any of my attention.
Obviously, the healthy choice for me is not play this stupid game because it isn't fun. I'm sure when I return to it it will be as shitty as ever, and I will win a lot and feel fantastic and eventually come back to here, where I am right now, losing all my matches and ready to set my computer on fire and throw it out the window.
yeah its not your fault. and it was not my fault too that I have never seen some ancient civilization's capital in its glorious times, well guess what ? They are ruins nowadays. So I've missed the opportunity to see that like whoever missed the opportunity to get first seasons' cardbacks.
That's so stupid to give old seasonal rewards to new players and that's so stupid to ask for that. You've missed that opportunity no matter what. That's being rude to old players, to give season exclusive rewards to the players who couldn't achieve those in its responsive time.
Thanks for the laugh! I truly hope you’re just a troll. If not, I suggest you look back at your posts here in a few years, so you can realize how crazy you sound.
It's totally fine that we're murdering hundreds of minions and trying to kill our opponent with axes and fireballs, all accompanied by suitably violent screaming. But god forbid our card art has breasts, butts or any blood on them. Censor immediately! Yanking someone's guts out of their stomach (i.e. eviscerating)? No blood allowed!
We already got Togwaggle talking like a 6 year old. I think the game is already kid-friendly enough.
Yeah it looks like we're gonna have to do away with the Quest moniker.
RIP 2017-2019
On topic though, Tome of Origination is absolute fire. Drawing 0 cost cards as a passive with your hero power is some serious late-game awesome for Warlock. I wonder what other cards we may see that will help Warlocks replace cards in their decks...
Lol, so if someone gave you the chance to see this ancient glorious city, would you think that person is rude to the dead citizens or how this angrylife works?
Dude, you "earned" the card back during season 12 and now they're "earning" the card back from this limited time event. Thematically the fire festival has always featured rag so it makes sense to award his card back.
I like the idea that old card backs are going to come back so people can jazz up their collection / decks with more flavors of Hearthstone. The game has been out for a long time and it has gained so many new fans since the early couple of years so letting them fill up their collection is really cool, even if its years later. I'm not a fan with how they are handling this specific case though.
I do think it is important to differentiate how someone earned a card back. I've had this stance since Ben Brode originally stated they wanted to find a way to bring back older card backs so I apologize for sounding like a broken record to those who have seen me drone on about it.
Some sort of small visual clue could easily differentiate if you had a "first edition" version of a card back. One suggestion I have is to make a "simple" change to the ring around your deck on the board to be golden instead of grey. I realize the majority of card backs out there are likely to be golden, so having a large element around the deck may not work too well. You could instead go for a more subtle approach of adorning the slot with a gem of sorts.
If you do that for a "first edition" card back, those who were around the first time will feel good about being so but it gives them room to allow the card back to be given out again.

Can we talk about achievements and rewards for completing them? I'm so excited to see a more rewarding system like this implemented!
