Is it just me or has anyone else had trouble getting the Hearthstone client to launch on Android after the patch today? Tried multiple times but the game freezes at the title screen or immediately thereafter. Uninstalled and reinstalled with no change. Hoping it's not just me because I'm about out of troubleshooting ideas.

j/k but for real it needs a nerf. It needs to be either 2 mana, have its copy effect not happen if you killed off it's target, or have it not trigger if it doesn't kill the target.

Heya, y'all. With me having nothing to do this New Years Eve and with the Custom Runeterra section being so empty I thought I'd continue with my weird collection. Of the three I've posted thus far this one has me the most worried about balance. I don't know if she is too strong or to weak (leaning in the too strong direction) but I am still only trying to give an idea of a design. Did my best to offer a card that allowed unique gameplay but also offered something that felt like the champion. I did my best to show Ahri's mobile mage style of game play. I do think that the Charm spell might be too good but when comparing it to Troll Chant and cards of that sort it's hard to be sure.
Spirit Rush is not a collectable card by the way. It is only gained through the Level Up effect of the champion since otherwise I'd be offering damage removal to a faction in its entirety when that faction is not known for dealing damage at all. I had considered having Ahri's play effect be 'deal 2 to an enemy unit' or 'deal 2 to a random enemy unit' but I didn't want to take the damage aspect too far and thought adding some ephemeral synergy to her as well to make her a more flexible champion would be neat. Lastly I want to make it clear that Spellvamp as a key word is not meant to be something impactful enough to design a card around, it is useful yes, but healing your nexus for 1-2 isn't insane and thus I designed Ahri's Champion spell to be strong without it triggering.
I'm sure I have plenty of other flaws in my design but that is why I share my work, to get creative criticism, so feel free to let me know what you think.
Edit: I made some minor changes due to wording I realized was awkward. This may have been a slightly overly ambitious champion design I'm realizing. >.>;

Looking for art for the weekly card design competition, I stumbled upon an upcoming CCG: Rise of the Overlords. The art I'm refering to has been posted 4 years ago, but the devs are showcasing new cards on twitter every now and then so the game should still be alive.
The information the homepage provides are interesting enough to warrant a thread imho:
- the goal of the game is it to destroy the enemy overlord. In contrast to HS, overlords are taking part in the battle, they're basically super strong minions.
- the battlefield isn't merely interactive, but actually part of the game. There's one with a stream of lava across the board. If a minion falls into it, it gets damaged badly or even destroyed. Other battlefields have holes minions can fall through.
- there's no mana but actions per turn. Those can be used to play cards, move units or attack - this reminded me of Legends of Andor, a cooperative tabletop game.
This might be worth keeping an eye on!

In the past year, Hearthstone has made great strides to offer new content for players. A new Class, Dual-Class Cards, an achievement system, a Battle-Pass (that nobody asked for), the Duels mode, additional minions, tribes, and heroes for Battlegrounds. Now this doesn't look like much, but to be honest this is a lot of content in one year when you compare it to previous years' habits of rinse, wash, repeat. Unfortunately with all the strides that Team 5 has made to make the game better, I've felt an itch that just can't be scratched, and that's the lack of formats.
Everyone here, since this is being posted in the Hearthstone part of the site, is familiar with Standard and Wild. We know how the rotations work, what cards are legal, and what to expect in April of any given year. So I ask, is it enough? Is Standard and Wild enough formats to play on the ladder? My answer is simply no and there are two main reasons for this answer. The Metas, and the collection.
The Meta within Standard waxes and wanes depending on balance changes, combo & archetype discoveries, and obviously the new cards that roll in every ~4 months (with the exception of this and perhaps future expansion cycles). The Meta gets changed up quite a bit on the release of a new expansion which is expected, and can be changed drastically like what we're currently seeing with Evolve Shaman after Demon Hunter got rebalanced. Eventually when Team 5 either throw their hands up and discreetly decide that Standard has had enough balance changes or is more or less into full swing of expansion reveal to keep everyone occupied, the Meta settles and become monotonous. Of course they're trying to remedy this by releasing a mid-expansion set of cards to hopefully shake it up enough, but either way that Meta will settle and players will get bored.
The Meta in Wild, for lack of better terms, has its' roots more planted than that of Standard. We all know Raza & Rez Priest, we all know Odd Paladin, we all know Secret Mage, we all know Bloodreaver Warlock, we all know Dead Man's Warrior, and so on. The deck variety in Wild will always be greater than that in Standard, but that does not mean better. Of the decks listed above, I've never once said to myself "Oh boy! I get to go against (Insert Deck name here) again!" Yeah playing against Galakrond Rogue sucked for a time but at least it was only a Meta deck for so long, as opposed to Wild decks where these offenders will be present until there's literally a card printed out exclusively to combat them. So Wild has its own level of staleness, which funnily enough is at the same time worse, and better than the staleness of Standard.
The second issue is the collection aspect, this is more of a Wild exclusive topic. This topic more aimed towards players who don't/haven't disenchanted their Wild cards. Currently in the game we have ~2,500 collectable cards, and not many of them are playable in terms of being viable in the Wild meta. Additionally, some of these cards never got support after their release, looking at you Moorabi. Beyond cards not getting support we also have powercreep which is something that can't always be avoided and in a way is needed for players to become better, an example being Silverback Patriarch and literally any other 3-cost Taunt minion. Those two simple things combined with the vast amount of cards available in Wild makes wanting a complete collection that much less important.
The only slight remedy of the having a complete or near complete collection being almost useless is the new Duels mode. Some could say that this validates a reasoning for players to hold onto old cards, and it does, but not all players like the idea of drafting cards, myself being one of them. But that's a mode that comes down to personal preference.
So all that above culminating to the point I wanted to make. It's time for Hearthstone to get a new format, preferably this one ;). Joking aside, I, as well as other players, are tired of being stuck in between a format that has the tired same old gimmicks since a deck's inception, and a format that gets stale even when new cards arrive. Some of you may say "Well if Team 5 does add another format, it'll get stale, people will complain about it's imbalances, and won't fix anything long term." Which is true but if Team 5 were to not add just one, but maybe two new formats, it'll give players enough to shuffle in between without getting bored/burned out as easily. Let's also take a step back and brainstorm what those could be.
Explorer - A format in which cards, depending on the amount they were played, get rotated out until the new Hearthstone year.
Pauper - A format in which only common rarity cards are allowed.
Tower - A format in which "random" is not allowed, and in which cards that create other cards is not allowed.
Tribal - A format in which all minions must share the same minion type.
Two-Headed Ogre - Make a 15 card deck, combine it with someone else's 15 card deck, and you go against two other players with their combined 15 card decks.
Hell, maybe even a format that rotates with expansions. What if we had Classic, Basic, Darkmoon Faire, and Whispers of the Old Gods in their own format for 4 months until the next expansion? This could've also been done when Boomsday came out, it could've shared a format with Goblins Vs. Gnomes along with mechs from other expansions.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

It's rough when you draft that really interesting deck then happen to get beat up with it and then presto, you never get to try it again.
Why not allow a casual mode where you can take it for a spin to your heart's content?
This is a really obvious idea I'm sure that has been brought up several times before. Right now I'm playing a very fun Elemental Mage deck with Silas Darkmoon and a surprisingly effective Deck of Lunacy. It would be so fun to be able to hold onto it for a few more plays after the fun is over.

I didn't create this class for anything in particular; just had the idea and kept the ball rolling long enough to get something concrete made haha. Last time, I made Kel'Thuzad the Lich class...and got some flak for using an already-existing, popular character (because that could theoretically be seen as a means of gaining bonus points in the eyes of the voters). Well, that won't be a problem this time around, as my class is completely new and original. I am assuming this class existed from the start, so it will not follow the Demon Hunter model. So without any further ado:

Alraunes are beautiful plant-women, who often use said beauty to lure men to their deaths. I toned down the "sexiness" and made her an angry force of Nature: as an Alraune, you will control life itself, bringing to bear the plants and the trees of this world as you seek to reclaim Azeroth from the filthy humans and orcs who have done it harm. You will grow new forces from the earth, sweep across the land as a cleansing balm, and tear down the mammals' structures to make way for your new world. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and this woman is hell-a pissed.

Gameplay Summary
Aisha's gameplay reflects her status as a being of Nature. She can flood the board with new life, or empower her minions into superior constructs. She can poison her enemies, or wrap them up in vines. The possibilities seem endless when you can quite literally grow what you need to win the war against the mammals.
However, all classes need a weakness. Aisha's power comes mainly through her physical attributes, and not from spells or clearing abilities. She needs a force she can nurture and grow; repeatedly destroy her plants, and the Alraune will become helpless.
Seedlings
As I alluded to above, Seedlings are the Alraune's special thing, like Totems (and Overload) for the Shaman. Many spells and minions come with an additional effect of summoning a Seedling, which are helpless 0/3 minions. However, if you can defend the Seedling, it will turn into either a 3/3 Thorn Spitter or a 3/3 Moon Blossom, both of which come with their own end-of-turn effect. You can tell what they'll turn into the moment the Seedling is summoned, so both players understand what's about to happen.

The Cards
Each of the sets can be found in their own spoilers below, with everything that doesn't have a home yet in "The Rest" section. Let me know what you think, and I'll keep workin' on it. Considering how early I am in the design process, keep in mind that everything here is up for debate balance-wise.

In Journey to Un'Goro, Aisha seeks to claim another area for the Scourge the Swarm her garden. Her plants are hungry, ready to devour the poor Tortollans and anyone else who stands in her way. Howdy! Seeing as I got some rather positive feedback from my attempt at a Poppy champion for LoR I thought I'd make some other attempts. Once again as a side note, I make no promises of perfect balance. These are mostly just made to sorta preview a thematic direction I could see the champion being taken in. I even went 12 wins first attempt with a cheesy deathrattle Paladin spamming that button. That was before the meta settled. Now everyone plays the exact same imba garbage like robots and your chances are determined more by champ select than by your skill at this game.
I'm really hoping the team that manages this game mode take a nod from the BG team and actually take care of this game during patches. The first one solved almost nothing and imho this mode is totally unplayable at the moment which is a shame.

Hey everyone,
to those who don't really play expeditions frequently proably won't be able to relate to this post so I am not sure if that post will be for you.
For those who do play expeditions frequently I would like to know if it is normal for expeditions that decks are that close to contructed level on low win counts that most of them have a cheesy way to end games without many ways to interact as the opponent, with cards that pretty much close the game once they hit the field and where your best bet is spray and pray that they don't hit their wincondition earlier than you can beat them.
What kind of decks am I talking about? I talk about The Grand Plaza decks Lee Sin deck s Fiora decks with Unyielding Spirit (actually also) Teemo shroom decks with tons of the "both-player-draw" cards and removal (the classic) elusive spam perfect curve daybreak or all in noxus, decks that are so extreme at what they do that you have no way beating them at their game and where you have to find ways around them with your own kind of cheese.
It feels kinda terrible to play that kind of expeditions where your deck needs to be crazy good to survive even the early rounds because the deck quality feels to be through the roof.
I mean there are plenty explanations to me for this which are:
-only hardcore limited players are playing expeditions anymore
- there are 3rd party programms used widely that assist with deck creation
- powerlevel of cosmic creations is just busted in limited
- consistancy of draft themes is too high
- me being unlucky with the matchups (which is unlikely since then it would not have been that frequent)
Proably it is a mix of all of these factors. I just can say that play expeditions like this feels extremely hard to compete in and are just miles away from the experience i had the last times playing expeditions.
I don't know if that is possible but i feel like riot should reduce the theme consistancy of decks so that cheesy onetrick decks are less a thing but who am I to judge...
What have you experienced yourselves? Have you been to expeditions since cosmic creations? If so: how has it felt to play in it? Did you experienced the cheesy onetrick issue aswell? Do you know a solution other than doing the same?
I don't enjoy a semi constructed limited where both players try to outcheese each other with their strats and removal is so rare and weak that you can't stop the cheese...
