  • Yeah, i just created a deck to interact exactly like this. It should have been intended tbh. I'm sad.

Also, these notes don't mention but i had an info pop-up about The Ceaseless Expanse is banned in some formats.

Checked it out on deck creator and found out that it is banned on Wild. It is not banned on standard but i'm not sure if it is also banned on Arena tho.

  • Don't know about general legendary drop rates because i got 3 from 40 packs but i feel like they increased signature card rates too because i got signature Gorm the Worldeater and almost all players i have encountered played a non-free signature card. Maybe it is just a coincidence but it felt like that.

  • Because mostly those %5 make money for them.

I don't think that most people don't buy preorders btw. My opinion is on this is like it is the only thing Blizzard can sell right now because all other products rather than Tavern Pass doesn't give the value you spend and people who spends on Hearthstone pays for availability at start of an expansion so they likely buy preorders rather than buying only Tavern Pass.

These are my assumptions tho. Maybe there are people out there who just don't care and buy only tavern pass for cosmetic stuff but it is so unlikely in my opinion. Buying Tavern Pass later on might be a think if they give an option to buy it with in-game currency but that's not a thing.

  • didn't Nintendo start a war with emulators lately (on last march for yuzu, citra, ryujinx etc. iirc). You were using dumped roms with third-party either for emulators too and citra was 3ds, not switch but they are addressed for like 2.5m for lawsuit and it is accepted. If they really want to make a thing like this, i don't think anything can stop Nintendo to make a lawsuit for these guys. It doesn't matter if you use third-party to use dumped roms for this product, you are openning a posibility to make people do that so Nintendo won't accept this.

I mean, their only reasoning is like "Because it is illegal", they can do anything to sell consoles, all those nintendo exclusive games arent released for anything but selling consoles. it is their only bussiness model. So if they see a market for this, i don't think this product will stand a chance to survive.

  • This is a scam in disguise. They want us to be thankful for these changes really ? I %500 agree with anchorm4n, i'm doing the same thing and latest expansion packs are only valuable at first month or until mini-set for a f2p player. Standard pack hoarding almost completes commons and rares single-handedly right now if you open your hoard at first day of an expansion then start hoarding and expansion packs gives you value of dust with first balance patch with duplicate dusting. There is no value on dupe dusting on last month of the expansion. Also Standard packs fills some holes of older expansions.

Do they really want us to stick with what we have on release for 2 years of an expansion ? No more filling some holes with standard packs unless you are buying them with money/gold. Let's be honest, who buys standard packs with gold? Noone.

Hearthstone goes rapidly unplayable state for f2p due to predatory marketing and becomes a f2p-looking p2p asian game. They are desperately trying to find some more gain areas, They tried decreasing quest rewards, it didn't work. Now they are trying this and that pre-release event. They must be losing a lot of players/money to be this much predatory.

I never thought that I would say this but MTG:Arena have %500 better system than this game right now, at least you can collect whatever you wish, you can go for historic(wild) events and collect them if you want, you can buy pass with playing draft, collect cards by playing draft, you can collect older standard cards with rotating drafts, even collect historic(wild) cards by playing draft from time to time, pass gives some older standard packs etc.

There will be no way to gain older standard cards with release of next expansion anymore. Arena gives only latest packs, arena rotations means nothing because of this shitty reward decision and shitty draft mode design. reward track gives like 3-5x standard packs i assume? now Tavern gives only latest packs.

HS won't give the value of the time you spent anymore. If you were here at expansion releases, good for you. If you start the game after expansion release, you won't find the time to collect other standard cards because you will be busy to collect latest expansion and game won't give you older standard expansions so probably you can't create decks because you are missing some staples of older expansions.

tl:dr; That's a horrible change for both new and old players. Noone except Blizzard wins here.

  • If the event will be tGDB cards only, there will be no f2p players on that event as long as buying packs with gold is unavailable before release. Even they give 3-4x packs and 1x comes from end of season, it is still 25x cards from new expansion, not enough to build a complete deck.

I guess it will be the first event that only paid members can participate.

  • in paper you're right but in MTG:Arena, it works as; you draft with people then you can play the games whenever you want as long as the event stays online, also there is a quick draw mode too which you draft with bots, difference between normal draft and quick draft is that there is no time to pick cards on quick draft but there is time limit on normal draft with people, like 30secs to pick a card and in both modes you keep the cards that you draft. If it is a duplicate, it fills a vault chest, if it is a rare or mythic duplicate, you get a little amount of gems which you can use to buy another draft token when you have enough amount.

The only reason we don't have this draft mode is how class mechanic and rarity system is and maybe also dust system. Dust system is easily configurable tho like giving 1/2 or 1/4 value if duplicate card is coming from arena etc. but rarity is a bit problem here. in MTG:A you can have 4x Mythics so having duplicate from draft is kind of hard but you know, finding a duplicate of a legendary in arena is easier.

  • I just need a real draft mode on HS. I am still playing MTG:Arena for draft and it tires me sometimes to staying up to date for both games and i am playing fully f2p both games so it takes a lot of time.

Maybe i can leave MTG behind if HS gets a real draft mode, Arena mode is just awkward. I know that class system prevents them to make a real draft at the beginning but there are class packs now and i don't think it is so hard to create Arena-special packs for people.

Also, it is almost 11th year of Hearthstone, why can't we have a Wild Draft mode still ? Only one draft mode is just a shame for a game which is around for a decade. There is still no other way than buying packs with gold or real money to collect wild stuff.

If i need to be honest, they won't do anything for draft mode. That event is just a try to increase pre-order sells. If people don't pre-order, They won't have any tGDB cards so Team 5 and Blizzard simply says "hey we made a new mode (old but new) for you! if you want to participate in the event, go buy the pre-order !"

So they are just trying some oriental cunning style of ruse. Two birds with one stone; Sell pre-orders, make people spend their tickets/gold before even expansion starts. People who open their packs will likely spend some dusts too on release if they spend all their gold on event because you can't craft anything from new expansion before it is active so they want all our resources to go dim so they can milk us.

i hate this era of capitalism and consumerism.

  • Saruun needs cards like Steam Surger because of how elementals synergize with each other. It is still a nice addition to have +1 Fire damage on minions that would not normally have. However, being 7/6 do nothing on t6 is still a big dealbreaker in nowadays powerlevel.

  • Eredar Brute's only purpose is widening neutral demon pool for standard imo. There is only Observer of Mysteries on standard. When you discover a demon, you can only find that and amalgams with classes that have no demons, so they needed to include some neutral demons to decrease the chances of discovering Kil'jaeden for non-demon classes while being good enough to discover so they produced some demons that is not good while building deck but can be good for discover mechanic. That is just a card for discovering and i think it is a good/playable card if you discover. I don't think we need to evaluate that card for deckbuilding.

We can't really evaluate all cards for only deckbuilding purposes. There is also Arena too and that's a good arena card aswell. Oh, also discovering Kil'jaeden on arena as a fixed mechanic might be problematic too for drafting with Relentless Wrathguard. I didn't check the arena rotation yet but with expansion's release there will be 6x Demons + amalgams for standard so, evaluating cards for only deckbuilding and ladder feels wrong to me.

It is a 4/5 card imo if you consider all features. It balances the pool while giving a nice option.

  • So it will end up being another C'Thun or C'Thun, the Shattered or Sire Denathrius or Astalor, the Flamebringer

How many more times we have to encounter this boring mechanic i wonder. Same finisher over and over and over and over again.

  • So protocols give us another C'Thun or C'Thun, the Shattered or Sire Denathrius or Astalor, the Flamebringer ?

How creative ? I can't think of even more interesting play...

I just want a year without this effect. Why is this coming back over and over again ?

This single thing just destroyed my hype and will to play the new expansion, great work Team 5 !

Undead is a playable race in WoW? The whole Forsaken faction is Undead

I thought like they only added Undead to zombies, abominations etc. for a moment but you are right, they added Undead tag to all. They should have spared Forsaken with Undead.

I already talked about this before when they released Undead at MotLK but people said "it's ok, they can't spare them". I was ok with that at that moment and i forgot for a moment now and yes you are right.

There was a speak at classic times about Druid beasts that if they want to add Night Elf / Tauren etc. how the tribes will be and people was saying that "they will never add playable races as tribes so don't worry." lol. Look at where we are now.

They were saying the same thing while i was whining about they shouldn't add Undead btw. Thanks for remembering it to me.

I still have hopes if they start to add other races, maybe they spare Forsaken and Undead from each other. I mean, How in the world Abomination and Sylvanas Windrunner has the same tribe tag.

  • Dragons were added to the game way too early at Blackrock Mountain and before that point, there was not a lot of Dragons in the game. Existing ones were all 4/5+ minions and they already have the theme of "holding a big minion in hand as advantage" in design because Blackrock Mountain was already planned while they are creating the classic, Naxx and GvG.

Dragons are not a playable race which can be ANY class btw. Latest ones are Drachtyr and they can become only Evoker (which will change or already changed with war within, i guess) and Dragon Aspects is the reason of "if you are holding a dragon" mechanic already.

For naga, you might be right but it also suits the theme as there was not a lot of Nagas before there was only 1 naga at classic and bunch with Demon Hunter release.

I am not way too late tbh because this is the first time a race that can do a lot of things getting tribe tag. Ok, i agree with some older stuff break some tribe mechanics as being out of context but Draenei is used wider then any other existing tribes on arts and will be used for more on upcoming releases because it is one of the main races of the Warcraft which can be used by players too. It is the first and the only playable race of WoW tribe tag on Heartshtone.

  • this had to be a rogue card in both lorewise and mechanically. Mabye dual class but not warrior only.

  • because of Murphy

  • Coin usage for Rogue might be hell of a competition to design, balance and playability tho it makes me think about it and i tihkn i found kind of a solution.

When it comes to coin cards like Wishing Well, even though i like them, it is hard to make a viable deck with them because you only have 2x powerhouse cards in your deck so you need to hold it on mulligan or you need a tutor card for it or a lot of card draws to get it which also incompatible with coin hoarding.

Coin support-ish cards like Pyrotechnician it is both overpowered and bad (if you have no luck with random spells). Bad because you fill your hand and burn your own cards and if you get useless spells you have a full hand with crap, overpowered because you are also getting mana while you are triggering the card itself.

My solution is a keyword, something like tribute(x) or loan(x) or something means payment(x) which is a keyword like Spellburst but it doesn't trigger only once and spends all temporary mana when triggered.

Tribute(x) - After you play (x) coins, this effect triggers and you lose (x) temporary mana.

    A simple example;                                 or sth like this;

  • Firstly, don't get me wrong because what i would say might be misunderstood but i'm like you too.

I feel bad for us really because we need to respect or even promote companies/people because they do what they should. I mean, what Polyphony Digital did is what it had been needed to do already and we feel like they are doing great job. "Show people worse, they will think avarage is great" kind of thing.

Game ownership laws needs some tinkering for this in my opinion. Well, we all are agreeing these terms while buying and creating accounts for these companies without reading them most of the time and when we buy copies, we don't take possession of that copy most of the time, we are paying for the services and most people thinks that they are paying for the product.

Actually, paying for game services is almost same for paying for meal from a restaurant but isn't treated like it. you mostly pay for services and how they harmonized the ingredients to make the meal but in the end, restaurant can't make you that you can't eat it the product. Games should be treated like meals and at least the copy which we bought must be preserved at least playable after companies shut the online service servers.

I know that servers cost money etc. but if a company stops supporting a game, they already taking the decision of not caring of piracy of the game anymore and they should make games compatible with offline use.

It becomes even more complicated with intracompany/extracompany agreements with how Microsoft or steam forces game studios for listed games to get some periodic updates, i can see that but something really needs to be done for this ever-growing industry with decillions of games. I agree that we are paying for the services but i want to play the game i was paid for even after 20 years has passed and no more supported and even it is not supported for more modern operating systems anymore. There will be always some fan groups for oldest games which has the capability to make it available for newer operating systems but it is another deal-breaker for companies probably because they always want us to consume "newer" stuff.

Online services and frequent updates are not just for technological advancement or making products better or preventing piracy, we are not blind and I don't think capital world governments will do exact stuff that we demand.
