Uh... no, even the worst case scenario is WAY better than that: your Hero can also ignore taunts. So even without any other minions on your side, it's 3 attack PLUS whatever Hero attack you can cobble together from weapons, the Hero Power, and other attack-buff cards.
I in no way assume my experience is universal - the original poster made that claim, not me. I believe there are MANY different constituencies in Hearthstone, and just because one of their policies doesn't benefit you specifically doesn't mean it was undertaken solely to benefit Blizzard as a company. Duplicate protection costs Blizzard WAY more than this small quality-of-life change benefits the company.

You don't HAVE to buy anything. Plenty of free-to-play people make Legend every season still. The pre-release bundles are FAR from essential to succeed or have fun with Hearthstone.

If you don't play enough to Draw 30 cards and use your hero power 20 times every three days, you're not actually an active player of Hearthstone.
