"that uses things that weren't balanced properly for PvP"
They've been working on this for at least a year - they've done TONS of balancing work on it. They didn't just throw everything in from Dungeon Runs and call it a day. You're misrepresenting the mode before even trying it.
Sounds like you're a victim of your own expectations. If you enjoyed playing Hearthstone yesterday, I really don't see how introducing a bunch of fresh content makes it suddenly suck today.
So, same as Battlegrounds, they'll be nerfing and buffing hero powers and treasures on a regular basis to keep things interesting. Given the massive number of permutations this mode introduces, I'm not worried about the Duels meta growing stale. If it does get bad, they'll just change things. Give the devs some credit! They've been very proactive with Battlegrounds, and they have every incentive to be equally involved with Duels.
Other decks aren't performing better than Mage at every rank. You need to look at the entire meta in detail to understand the nerfs, not just take an overall average.
"Stop harassing any game's developers" should be a mantra for the gaming community, repeated over and over and over again. Thank you for including it, Flux.
It's a game, darling. Pretend to be as faux outraged as you like, but comparing it to socialized education is beyond idiotic. If you were advocating that all players of Hearthstone should pay a means-tested, progressive tax in order to play, I'm with you! Great idea! But that's clearly not what you're espousing - you're disingenuously acting like the benefits of social democracy are comparable in any way to videogames.
People who are free-to-play don't need "looking out for," Mr. Self-Appointed Hero. They're free-loading in a children's card game. Missing out on a single free pack for a single week which they KNEW ABOUT IN ADVANCE will not hurt them in the slightest.
Your rhetoric is truly an indictment of whatever educational system trained you. Best of luck , Robin Hood. I'm sure you'll take down mean old Blizzard any day now!
Seems like this would dramatically increase the total match length if they didn't also lower starting health across the board. But I think it's definitely worth testing.
Name a patch of any software ever that was completely bug free. It doesn't. Happen. This is just the reality of software, especially software that runs on a huge swath of different platforms.
Yes, when someone has a small disagreement with you, the proper thing to hope for is that multiple people lose their jobs during a worldwide pandemic. You're being SUPER rational and proportional...
One question though: you say we won't see Argent Braggart very often because it's an epic. I was under the impression that they now mixed epics, rares, and commons together, and that the prevalence of a card was based on which power level bucket they assign it to rather than its rarity. Am I incorrect about that?
Glide isn't a control killer - it's a combo killer. It's annoying against control, sure, but it severely postpones combo decks in a much more profound way.
For anyone who's done the pre-release events before: can you ONLY open packs, or can you also craft cards? I always craft one golden legendary before I open my packs, so if I can't do that, I'll just wait until Thursday to do anything. Thanks!

I don't think a 5% chance to flip a coin for who wins the match is going to affect the tournament meta in the slightest.
What a bizarre analysis. I haven't rolled that quest in a VERY long time. Losing it is not a problem in any way.
Packs from Wild expansions have been available for gold for a little while now.

Amen, man. It's like... if you don't want to buy it, then vote with your money and don't buy it!
Hold on... "free-to-play players ... got robbed of their regular free pack"? How can someone who put absolutely NOTHING into the game get "robbed"?
Nobody. Owes. You. Free. Shit.

Be. Better.
You really couldn't find a way to make this point without using one of the most offensive words in the English language? Please be more considerate.
I'm super curious about this as well!
Great analysis!

I'm in the exact same boat. Waiting to craft golden KT on Thursday. :D
