Am I right that if you have non-beasts in your hand, then you don't draw from your deck, but discover a copy? But, when you have all beasts then they are drawn from your deck?

On turn 3, if I have both [card]Animal Companion[/card] and [card]Master's Call[/card]. Which is best? Does it vary, and if so, what are the deciding factors?
