Are you a f2p new player and don’t have the cards for a real deck? From what I’ve seen consistency is key in MTGA and a lot of “1-of’s” is the opposite of that. Most strong decks use 3-4 of the best cards, Which makes them strong. But until we craft all those sweet rares, there’s not much option besides using Sub-optimal subs and 1-of’s.

I’m in love with MTGA. It looks more generous at first but when you try to go competitive you see how expensive most decks are. Even mono-red aggro is not cheap, and needs a lot of rares (HS equivalent of Epics). Anyway it feels great to farm dailies and slowly build your collection towards your dream decks. I completely dropped HS these last days..
Gruul midrange is a cool deck and pretty expensive too, but the control ones (Esper etc... Forget about it.
Let's be frank, MTGA is a whole new beast and as such, deserved another OOC entirely for it. Do you guys think you'll ever have men power to launch a robust MTGA Section here? With all it deserves: meta reports, decks, articles, guides, etc? Or is OOC destined to a "mmochampion" fate, to have MMO in the name but be actually a gigantic WoW fan site?
I mean, I love HS, it's my old wife by MTGA is my new 18yo lover so... Thirsty for more!
The forum MTGA section is dead... I wrote 3 posts including a new thread and almost a week later, not a single reply.
Magic Find also bought other Curse/Fandom sites, i.e. https://www.mmo-champion.com so probably they couldn't dismember the package to different parties. Looks simple as that, but let's wait to see Flux's pov
The ideia seems to be: survive and avoid dmg with Walls, remove everything, heal a bit (absolute necessity in a mono-red meta), mass remove everything a bit more until you can pull “The Wanderer” + “Command the Dreadhorde” and put both WHOLE graveyards in your board!?
I mean, as much I'd love to, I don't see Out Of Cards becoming an important MTGA site compared to the many other wholeheartedly sites dedicated to the game.
As happens with HS, there are the best sites for stats, others for deck lists, others for community interaction/forums etc. What would be a well rounded site for MTGA daily needs? Much like HearthPwn was for me personally. News, decklists, forum.. It had all. I want that for Magic too!
Came here to share a similar impression, but more on the side of "Mono-red aggro is BONKERS!!".
I'm also new to the game (having played paper Magic in my teens though) and for similar reasons mono-red aggro was the one I could afford to craft, in a sub-optimal build btw. And still, it's disgustingly effective, winning sometimes in turn 4-5 unless opponent is control/mid-range with some form of healing. Pirate Warrior anyone?
I feel sorry for my opponents, really, as it looks so oppressive. I may be VERY wrong, since low ranks (silver) and very new to the game. If some veteran could corect me, please do. However, meta tracking sites such as https://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/standard#paper show the deck's prevalence in 18%, being the only budget one. All the others are incredibly expensive. I'd love to try the multitude of control, mid-range, dual color, tricolor decks, planeswalker decks but oh, the money... So for now, mono-red aggro is the way to go. Let's see for how long lasts the fun.
