I feel that in next expansion we will get a card that increases your maximum mana crystals by 1, so that it can be more balanced.

Variants are purely cosmetic, so they can price them as they want, keeping in mind it is their main monetization avenue. I bet they will offer some "old" ones at reduced price at some point, similar to what is done …

No notification in game for this event... game interface is terrible for such events, it goes totally unnoticed

I don't think such heavy language is warranted for this case. Even if you are "right", you lose all merit when you talk like this. It's just a joke - possibly failed one and bad-timed, but still.

How did they even connect Lich King with Silvermoon/Blood elves in one expansion? It seems they didn't have enough material and merged 2 expansions in one at the last minute?

Normally Lich King could be better associated with Northrend …
