The way it seems to work is that Chests contain not 3 Rare Capsule, but instead 3 Random capsules. Because the 3rd capsule in my first chest was definitely a Champion Capsule:

It is at high ranks only... At low ranks just buying random demons is usually a winning strategy
On that image they have a separate crest for zaun so maybe eventually they will separate them

So here is where I landed yesterday. (was enjoying expeditions a bit too much over the weekend and got 6-7 wins each time out of 2 trials)
