In today's Zendikar Rising Preview Stream, Sean "Day[9]" Plott was playing MTG Arena on mobile!
Although specifics have not been announced, we must be getting close if Wizards is talking about it. We got a small glimpse of the mobile UI earlier this year during Toy Fair 2020 and now we've got some new in-game footage!
No date is currently available for the launch of MTGA on mobile.

I think it is a little early to celebrate. There is a good chance MTG Arena on mobile mighr not happen the way people want it to. When you consider how much people spend on this game, its its likely that Hasbro is not going to want to give up huge profit shares to Apple or Google. Also with how shady the app store policies are now there is going to have to be huge concessions somewhere in order for MTG Arena not to go they way of Fortnight in a legal debacle. If Epic Games wins their lawsuit against Apple and Google its also a win for MTG Arena.
With LoR I don't see how is MTG even competitive both on PC and mobile. It's literally a better version of MTG and is much more generous than MTG. Only MTG fans will play this
<_<
Yeah. Normally you don't play something you aren't a fan of playing. Burgers only really sell to people who like eating burgers. Meta variety in MtG seems much larger and has the sideboard game for extra depth. There are also a lot more styles of play and ways to win in MtG. LoR is fine, but I don't like it as much as MtG. As a bonus also, I stopped playing HS because of the Hong Kong controversy and I don't like sinking my cash into Chinese companies and companies that bend the knee to China's harsh censorship rules.
I'm a bit scared of the processing power it might take to run it, but I am definitely excited to try it out! Hopefully it'll be smoother than the PC version.
This has been the only reason I haven't given MTGA much of a chance.
I play mainly on mobile so it's really kept me from playing.
I'm excited that they are finally going to have a mobile app.
Hopefully they have a good intro like LOR does where I don't have to spend Hearthstone money to get a good collection.
MTG Arena is more aggressive than Hearthstone when it comes to monetization. It is a lot more expensive if you want to play a large variety of decks in constructed, and they have more frequent content releases which can make it easy to get behind.
With that said though, I know multiple people who play the game free to play and have fun doing so. I definitely recommend giving it a shot
Apparently Wizard of the Coast has decided I don't spend enough time staring at my phone already.
I genuinely did not think that a game like MTG would ever translate well to Mobile platforms.
I am intrigued if nothing else.
I played Magic Duels back when that was a thing and it worked pretty well altogether, don’t remember many problems with it.
Kind of wish that game was still getting updated, it was really generous to f2p compared to Arena
I cannot wait to get my hands on it to try it out. I also didn't think that MTG would ever translate well to mobile, but I'd love to be wrong.
Magic Duels was pretty fun to play back when it was a thing and it worked fine on mobile. Device got hot if the brightness was really high, but that’s something most games have, especially on older devices
