We've got a new legendary Priest card revealed for Voyage to the Sunken City by Brian Kibler - Priestess Valishj! Check out the reveal video and new card below.

This is the first 0-cost legendary card that has been added to the game and the first 0-cost collectible class-specific minion.

  • The main problem about this card are linked to the actual nature of priest. This one seems likes something you want to play in a deck that spams lots of cheap spells. It looks very strong for shaman, hunter, mage. Priest at the moment could play big dr minions (bye bye nzoth) but cheap spells it runs will rotate. Quest Priest instead would have needed it without the spell count reset at the end of the turn: It would have been a strong card for that deck if it would have allowed you to play Xyrella in the same turn the Quest Is completed, but you can't as it is written.
    So what to do with the extra mana? I don't see anything useful to do with that, view that devs don't want Priest to be a face deck with cheap spells (Shadow Priest have been ostracized many times last year, and I don't think this time will be different) and miracle Priest has Lost the main engine Minions due to rotation (sethekk and azmani) as well as the main spell that helps it in the gameplan, palm reading.
    I don't think serpent wig is something reliable as an engine for that, it's too weak and crunchy: you need Minion to buff and lots of nagas to play, that don't seem that overpowered to justify a deck like this. What is the good point in spamming +1+1 buffs on minions each for 1 mana? And the point is that each copy you create in your hand need another naga ti be played for creating a new copy. Librams did it for 0, then created copies by simply trading and then giving an enormous value with liadrin. Priest seems to be even more unplayable then last year right now, view that it loses the only good cards he had last year, the ones from Phoenix year, and it gains nothing that could cover the losses or even propose something new and reliable.

    Back in Warcraft 3 FT, there's plenty of the muscular Royal Naga around.

  • Seance is a thing in wild. Dane's gonna have a real field day with this card for sure

  • I have no clue what you would do with all the bonus mana, but in Wild Priest has access to Seance to copy the minion. Up to two times. The OTK player inside me is excited to see what this does.

    • It is far from being like Black Lotus (which gives you 3 mana for 0).

      Lotus enables you to start the engine, you can start turn one with 4 mana.

      Priestess is far from this.

      She only refresh your mana, so you have to actually have it in first place.

      Then it does not work if you have not played any spells. She is also horrible top deck if you lack of spells in hand.

      She is mana cheat but not like the druid/shaman ones. It doesn't allow you to play out of curve. It allows you to play some spells and more spells or some minion. It it not Guff on turn 1.

      I am not saying she is not strong or cannot be in proper deck but I think she is far from power level of what me other cards.

  • I suppose this is the fuel for the Serpent Wigs? Just play it all like a bunch of Libram of Wisdoms and then draw for three with Handmaiden

    I guess its fine in standard because Palm Reading is no longer there, and the fact that this only refreshes mana based on the number of spells means you're likely unable to just cheat out your entire hand. And its priest, there's just no burn spells anywhere (for now).

    Probably one of the more important priest legendaries that will nearly always be relevant while its active in standard.

  • At least it's legendary and only works once (unless copied), not a two-copy card with an ongoing mana-cheat aura like we've been dealing with.

  • I predict that this is going to get nerfed. 

  • More mana cheat. I predict it will either see almost no play in a competitive deck or lead to some very unfun to play against deck that will cause a lot of players to not enjoy the game.

    • I'm afraid the latter, and I'm already terrified.
