The August Season, "Heroes for Hire," has launched, and with it came a new way of participating in the Marvel Snap Community: a month-long event where players gather Cosmic Cubes to beat the bad guys.

The link goes to a website leaderboard, where the players with the top Cosmic Cube counts get to display their accomplishments for everyone to see. We've seen previous Seasons broken into four Chapters, this one appears to have rebranded into Phases (there are still four of them).

Still not sure what it all means? Luckily the developers have provided us with an FAQ to clear up some of the confusion.

1. How long will this event last? 🗓️
8/8 - 9/5 (Mon) 19:59 (PDT)

2. Who can participate in this event?
All players who play at least one match can participate.

3. Where can I participate in this event?
Open MARVEL SNAP and click the News button in the lower right corner of the main interface. Find "JOIN HEROES FOR HIRE" and start defending your city!

4. How to participate in this event?
Win cubes in matches to deal damage to villains, losses of cubes will also be counted, which means your contributions = your NET winning cubes. Additionally, including the below characters in your deck will DOUBLE the contribution points you get from a match. Be careful though, this multiplier ALSO impacts losses! E.g. If you gain 2 cubes in a match with Iron Fist, you will accumulate 4 contribution points.

5. Wait, does this mean if my deck has more than one of the characters above that I can earn 4x, 6x, 8x, etc. Points?
Good idea, but the boost can ONLY double(2x) the contribution points you get no matter how many characters you bring.

6. Any rewards for this event?
Currently no. We are exploring various forms of events based on your feedback and carefully considering how to award players who put a lot of passion into the events. We encourage and appreciate your feedback on events to help us bring you better gaming experiences during your journey with SNAP.

The added boost (or detraction) given to players who run the featured cards is an interesting bit of metagaming: do you build a deck with which to climb, or to increase your chances of getting the top spot on the Leaderboard? Of course, it would be more interesting if Shang-Chi and Wong weren't already meta staples.
