Theorycraft Games, lead by Joe Tung, Riot Games previous Executive Vice President of League of Legends and an Executive Producer at Bungie for Halo and Destiny, is introducing their first title to the world, Project Loki.

Still codenamed, with the final name to come down the line, Project Loki is a thrilling experience. Described by players as a "League of Legends meets Apex Legends meets Smash Brothers" title, I can confidently say that this is a perfect way to explain what Project Loki; As someone who has been a part of the early playtesting group for close to two years. Let's hope I'm allowed to say that.

I won't be sharing anything about my experiences today though, and instead we're going to see what Theorycraft Games has up their sleeves in their introduction video.

Introducing Project Loki

Team team put out a video about the game, and announcing their pre-alpha playtest taking place on PC from June 29-30. You can sign-up for the playtest on the official site.

Here's what they have to say about Project Loki and Theorycraft Games:

  • Their studio is independent.
  • They want to make games that are going to be played for over 10000 hours.
  • The goal was to build something fresh by using the team's collective experience with PvP games.
  • Theorycraft wants to involve players early in the development process.
  • Project Loki takes place in the skies, with many islands joined together to form the map.
  • You jump into a map with your squad, much like battle royale titles such as Apex Legends, Fortnite, or PUBG.
  • Combat looks fast, and characters have multiple abilities.
  • Positioning looks to be very important, much like other high-skill games in similar genres. Don't be outsmarted!
  • A train? Yup, there is a train that is moving around and if you get hit, you're going splat.

Quote From Theorycraft Games

Our first game in development, code-named Project Loki, is a group adventure, a competitive sandbox and a highlights factory, all at once. It’s a squad-based hero battleground and a blend of genres that players have described as League meets Apex meets Smash. Come play some games with us and join us on the journey.
