If you’re like me, you can’t wait to explore new games and discover the next amazing title. Or maybe, you’re bored and want to try something new. Whatever the case might be, I’d like to highlight some terrific independent games that are available now (or soon will be). It’s important to note that all these games are still at various stages of development and not in their final state. These selections are also free-to-play (F2P), with some having completely optional purchases.
Tales of the Deck
Tales of the Deck: Described as a “retro RPG card strategy” game, it has an old-school Final Fantasy look to the characters. Your goal is to gain Magic Points (MP) to cast more powerful spells or attack your foes with your weapon and your deck gives you those resources. If you make it to the final battle, you’re going to have a challenge defeating the boss, but a fun one.

Causa, Voices of the Dusk
Causa, Voices of the Dusk: You assume the role of a leader in the world of Hegemony, battling for power. Each turn you build your “Cause” by pledging cards in your hand. The higher your Cause, the more powerful allies you can summon. At certain levels of Cause, you are granted access to special decisions, which will give you a tactical advantage over your opponent.

SkyWeaver
SkyWeaver: This is a trading card game that has a few tricks up its sleeve. You’re dealing with two types of cards: Units and Spells. The first interesting aspect to this game is that many of the units you cast have spells attached to them, which adds a lot of value and important play decisions. The next cool thing is that SkyWeaver uses blockchain technology with Ethereum, so you own and can trade all the cards you have acquired.

Fatal Core
Fatal Core: This digital card game has an interesting concept to make decisions even more impactful. Both players have their hands revealed for the entire game, except for two cards that you can select at the start (or an additional one you draw later). Each turn you place units on squares that modify their Attack and Health, then all actions resolve simultaneously.

Mythgard
Mythgard: Get ready for a great tutorial and solo campaign to get you started and bring you up to speed on all the mechanics of the game. You start by “burning” cards from your hand to gain mana and gems required to build up your resources. Both players have lanes where the battles take place. Keep in mind that position matters, because you may not be able to attack or block, depending on the placement.

Call of Myth
Call of Myth: This strategy card game is based on characters from the universe created by H.P. Lovecraft. If you’re not sure who that is, I have one word for you – Cthulhu (giant, old-god, squid-looking monstrosity). Yeah, Lovecraft’s the guy that came up with that unholy terror. Choose from Human, Old Ones, and Outer God factions to play with and pray you can keep your sanity.

Call of Myth... Lovecraftian trading card game??! With a language that drives men mad and architecture that is the death of hope?! Sign me up!
Inoright!
Hey I'm Rick/MKick. I'm one of the folks behind Tales of the Deck. If you'd like to keep up with progress on the game and all that kind of stuff, we have a thread in the Video Games forum here at OutOf.Cards. Thanks for the interest gang!

Call of Myth's cardstyles, arts etc. seems like TES:Legends so much, even same.
Is this a clone of it or has different playstyle ?
It has a different play style.
As example - differents Leaders with active and passive abilities. There are lanes and rows on the battlefield, new card's stat - Sanity (added to strength and health) that works with madness mechanic, and much more.
Really cool selection! If you want to add another to the list World of Myth has a really interesting combat system.
Excellent post. I may check a few out. Thanks!
This is a great feature, please keep it going.
Look at all these alternate versions of Artifact. Destined to fail, right from the beginning.
nice bait
The more I see what other digital CCGs are out there, the more I appreciate Hearthstone's art style. Though these ideas sound unique and toothsome, the only game board I could stand to look at for a while is Tales of the Deck (and maybe Mythgard).
It's surprising to me that no other card games have emulated Blizzard's style, really. Even something so simple as round cards, rather than blocky ones, looks more natural. But most other CCGs I see, these included, don't have round cards. These boards are cluttered and dark, too. it's like they put the least importance on making it look smooth and pretty, when I think that the art style is nigh more important than what the cards actually do. You want to be interesting to new players; the art is what they'll see first.
I agree. The artstyle and liveliness of hearthstone makes it stand out from all of the other card games.
I couldn't agree more. I sometimes can't even specify what Hearthstone does correctly with visual design, but it's absolutely been a pitfall of other games I've played including MTG Arena.
Yeah even with Magic, as much as I do love the game, the aesthetic of Arena just isn’t that great for me.
Part of what hearthstone does well is making everything bright and cheery. Most other games instead go for a much darker look to it. Maybe it’s because they’ve heard the few people that complain about hearthstone’s look, or maybe it’s because they want to try and look distinct from it, but it really doesn’t help them with drawing people in
Amazing, thank you for sharing. Looking forward to playing Tales of the Deck.
It's a great game with a lot of potential for sure.
Thanks for the post, mate! These games seem interesting..
There's something for everyone here! =)
