How the Popularity of Decks in the Descent of Dragons Meta has Changed Since Launch

Published 5 years, 11 months ago by

The fine folks over at HSReplay released a great animation of how the meta has evolved over the past couple of weeks since the launch of Decent of Dragons.

Its fun to see how Highlander Mage was immediately replaced by Galakrond Shaman, we saw the rise of Deathrattle Rogue, and then Face Hunter getting popular out of nowhere. How do you feel about the current state of the meta since the patch hit?

  • Fantastic. Now its time for some cool new combo decks to rise, Let's go, figure it out guys!!

  • That was a lot of fun to watch :D

  • What changed? nothing .. All I can see is old mech paladin and secret mage as always.

    Great players.

  • I chuckled watching face hunter shoot up in 2 seconds and then slowly and steadily start to recoil.

  • Curious why galakrond warrior is so popular all of a sudden since it's not among the strongest decks.

  • That's a really cool animation. I think it's too soon for a meta report since it hasn't been a full week since the nerfs went live.

I honestly don't know what the meta is like anymore. A few days ago; I got the "play 2 Battlegrounds" quest, and I got hooked. I haven't even been keeping up on my daily's anymore.

  • I've found Galakrond Shaman to be a lot less potent after the Nerfs. It's still around but I've beaten it with HandLock and Highlander Din fairly regularly. Warrogue is tough to beat for sure, although again, because of my perchant for Control ish decks this Expansion I'm not finding them that hard to beat either.

Britney Spears Hunter though..... Errrgghhh.... 😬

    • Funny thing... according to the HS deck builder algorithm, Toxic Face Hunter is not the best Hunter.

Last night I was looking at what I’m missing that are good cards, crafted both copies of that side quest.  Being lazy I chose auto-complete thinking it’d give me Toxic Hunter.  It gave me straight up Mech Hunter with only a few new cards, like Dragonbane, which I also just recently opened.  Played only a few games with it so far but got from 5 to 4 without a loss!  Spawning Goblin Bombs helps with control matchups because clearing the board does damage, and the Venomizer + Missile Launcher keeps the board clear against aggro.

Been hard to find time to play lately, but the recent Galakrond Warrior list from Meta Breaker 9 article on this site, and now Mech Hunter have been big help on trying to push back up again.

  • So we are not getting a Meta Report this week? :c
