He awaits his second defeat, 14 years later.
Bosses in Icecrown Citadel
Icecrown Citadel is split into four wings and, contrary to how the raid initially launched way back in December 2009, all wings are open right now. Here's a list of all the bosses for each wing as well as which bosses drop tier tokens (as indicated by the word "TIER" by their name), which can be exchanged at the tier set vendors at the start of the instance for T10 set items. All wings must be cleared in order to fight The Lich King, which we're counting as part of Wing 4 in this list:
WING 1 (The Lower Spire) | WING 2 (The Plagueworks) | WING 3 (The Crimson Hall) | WING 4 (Frostwing Halls) |
Lord Marrowgar | Festergut | Blood Prince Council | Valithria Dreamwalker |
Lady Deathwhisper | Rotface | Blood-Queen Lana'thel (TIER) | Sindragosa (TIER) |
Gunship Battle | Professor Putricide (TIER) | The Lich King (TIER) | |
Deathbringer Saurfang (TIER) |
Shadowmourne
The juiciest Legendary weapon in all of Northrend, Shadowmourne is now available for Warriors, Paladins and Death Knights to pursue. Remember you need to be at least Friendly with the Ashen Verdict as well as collect a giant heap of 25x Primordial Saronite for the first part of the quest chain, so it may take a bit of time to get properly started! You can check out our guide, All You Need To Know About Obtaining Shadowmourne to get the full walkthrough with everyone you need to do to obtain this coveted trophy.
The Ashen Verdict - Rewards, Road to Exalted
The Ashen Verdict is Icecrown Citadel's faction of, well, a couple vendors and a ring crafter. Alchemist Finklestein, its Quartermaster, sells a whole bunch of profession recipes for 1 Primordial Saronite each. You can check the list of all crafted gear that comes from said recipes in our Icecrown Citadel Crafted Gear guide. In addition, he also sells Plans: Shatter Rounds and Plans: Iceblade Arrow, which Engineers can use to craft 91.5 DPS arrows and bullets, respectively.
The Ashen Verdict also awards players with a free ring upon reaching the four main reputation thresholds: Friendly, Honored, Revered & Exalted. There are five rings, each of them accounting for a certain role:
- Tank: Ashen Band of Courage (Friendly), which in its final, Exalted form, becomes Ashen Band of Endless Courage.
- Spell DPS: Ashen Band of Destruction (Friendly), which in its final, Exalted form, becomes Ashen Band of Endless Destruction.
- Physical DPS (Agility): Ashen Band of Vengeance (Friendly), which in its final, Exalted form, becomes Ashen Band of Endless Vengeance.
- Physical DPS (Strength): Ashen Band of Might (Friendly), which in its final, Exalted form, becomes Ashen Band of Endless Might.
- Healer: Ashen Band of Wisdom (Friendly), which in its final, Exalted form, becomes Ashen Band of Endless Wisdom.
Here's a breakdown of which types of monsters in Icecrown Citadel give what sort of reputation value per kill:
- Small trash mobs: +15 reputation.
- Large trash mobs: +50 reputation.
- Bosses: +250 reputation.
- The Lich King: +1500 reputation.
There's a few more 'special' monsters scattered throughout Icecrown Citadel that grant a different amount of reputation, such as Stinky and Precious in The Plagueworks, which grant +150 reputation each.
If you're looking for the fastest way to gain reputation, your best course of action is to repetitively kill trash mobs before Lord Marrowgar, reset the instance, and rinse & repeat until you hit Exalted.
