There is a lot more information now than was available when these cards leaked. Here are some articles you should check out!

The first Hearthstone expansion of 2020 is Ashes of Outland! You can learn more about the expansion, including seeing all the revealed cards, in our dedicated Ashes of Outland Expansion Guide!

Polygon has leaked the new expansion! Wow, what idiots!! The article that was leaked has since been removed.

Here is everything we know so far about Ashes of Outland. (Polygon referred to the expansion as Ashes of Outlands which makes no sense since its Outland and not Outlands)

  • The expansion launches April 7.
  • Demon Hunter is a new class and we've got 20 cards to showcase.
  • Priests are getting an overhaul.
  • Outcast, the new Demon Hunter Keyword gives the card a bonus if it is cast while being the right-most or left-most card in your hand.

New Legendary Card - Kael'thas Sunstrider

Quote From Polygon

The first piece of Ashes of Outlands will drop on Tuesday, March 17. Players can log in and receive the Legendary card Kael’thas Sunstrider. When Kael’thas is on the board, the third spell cast every turn is free.

New Class: Demon Hunter

Hearthstone is getting a new class - The Demon Hunter! Illidan Stormrage is finally getting his time in the spotlight.

  • Hero Power: Demon Claws, a 1-Mana ability that grants 1 Attack

Quote From Chadd Nervig

[Demon Hunters] don’t have much in the way of card generation, but you can run them out of resources,” says Chadd Nervig, game designer on Hearthstone. “They have card draw, but not generation, so you can fatigue them. They’re susceptible to hard removal. They also just don’t have much in the way of hard removal themselves; if they want to clear a big minion of yours, they have to use their face to do it. They don’t have any assassinate or polymorph cards.

Priest Overhaul

Priests are getting an overhaul!

Quote From Chadd Nervig

There were aspects of their basic and classic sets that we weren’t planning to support, so they were sort of misleading Priests and taking up space, Things like Prophet Velen, which is an iconic Legendary for Priests, sounded really cool … but really was only used for [one-turn kill strategies], which we weren’t planning to support. These cards are now in the Hall of Fame, and can be used in the game’s Wild mode.

  • Power Infusion > Power Word: Tentacles.

Not that Tentacles gets played ever in Wild but, RIP Tentacles!  For a new player not understanding Tentacles came first, they may end up wondering why Old Gods had a worse version of a Basic card.  LOL

    • Power Infusion doesn't let you play your Arcane Tyrant for free.

Jokes aside, It is sad to see PW: Tentacles be strictly power crept but the card has never seen any form of play so it's fine to me for a basic card to power creep it a bit.

      • to be completely fair, at this point shameless pwoer creep has been a thing for a while. Anyone remember Princess Huhuran. She will never be queen ):

  • This seems kinda April Foolsy to me.  Demon Hunters have only 2 specs in WoW, while Monk has 3 and came out after Death Knights.  WHY DID WE FORGET ABOUT MONKS?!  I want a Monk class, and make Demon Hunters hero cards like Death Knights are!

I'm sure they will do more classes in Hearthstone to drive up sales.  I'm also glad Priest is getting a revamp as it's sorely lacking in variety in decks.  I think I've been playing Resurrect Priest since the Dalaran set!

I think I've been playing Resurrect Priest since the Dalaran set!

You misspelled Kobolds and Catacombs, which is the set Lesser Pearl Spellstone came out in.

But seriously, the introduction of one new class opens the gates to a possible 11th, or even 12th class in the future.  Even if they have plans to add a Monk, and maybe even an actual Death Knight class in the future, they will likely only do one a year.  At most one an expansion, but more likely one a year.

Even just adding one is going to require a slight retooling of the UI if you think about it.  Even if it's just making a list of the classes instead of the 9 class grid for things like deck building, or even for deck slots themselves, something has to be changed to accommodate the 10th class.  My guess is that if this Demon Hunter class is real they'll make the class selection into a list that you can scroll through rather than a grid.  Same potentially for deck slots, but maybe not.

Also, maybe we'll get more deck slots?  Maybe another 9 if they stay with the grid look for deck slots.  I could speculate all night on various aspects of the leak, but in 14 hours we'll have the real truth from Blizzard directly so I'm good.  Can't wait to see Kibler play a DH vs Priest match on stream!

    • Personally I’d have preferred monk. It seems more interesting to me as a class but demon hunter fits the expansion content so there’s tha

    • to be fair, Demon Hunter hero cards would be a bit less likely because in canon only elves can become DHs...and we only have one elf hero.

      • I don't understand; but strictly technically, Malfurion, Tyrande, Maiev, and Elise are Night Elves; Alleria is a High Elf; and Valeera and Liadrin are Blood Elves.

      • I supposed Malfurion is sort of a night elf right? I assume you're referring to Valeera.

But its hearthstone. Just paste a couple of pointy ears and call em' a one off.

  • Why does Kul Tiran Chaplain look like Kabal Talon Priest to me. Also why would you play Power Word Shield now

    • 0 cost spells are always something to keep an eye on, and Power Word Shield is a great tool for any kind of Spell Synergy Priest because it's great with Gadgetzan Auctioneer and [Hearthstone Card (Lyra, the Sunshard) Not Found] in Wild, and odds are pretty good that more Spell Priest tools will be printed that enable some high-value potential out of it.

    • Also why would you play Power Word Shield now

Because it's nuts now. It was always good, but now it's a deck-thinner, no cost cantrip that buffs any minion of your own while taking you 1 step closer to any win-condition or combo piece... for free. Absolutely for free. Mark my words: this buff will be undone.

      • Do you realize that it doesn't draw anymore?

      • Did you read the card?

        • Obviously he didn't read it.  (No draw, dude!)

    • Auctioneer mostly, but also just keeping key minions alive.

    • Kul Tiran Chaplain looks like Kabal Talon Priest because it's basically the same thing for the most part. Similar effect just scaled down. As for Power Word Shield being down to 0 but on drawing a card, it can be better to cycle with now with a Gadgetstan auctioneer or easier to clear the board with Wild Pyromancer shenanigans. While overall I'd say it is worse, I don't think it's gutter tier like it might seem at the first glance.

  • By the looks of it we may be seeing Divine Spirit, Northshire Cleric an Prophet Velens going to Hall of Fame.  With 2 new Basics and a new Legendary for Priest those are the cards I see going.  Also Power Infusion is exactly the same as Power Word: Tentacles

  • Well, they've gone and done two things no one ever thought possible. New class, and change the frankly embarrassing priest classic cards. Well played blizzard.

    Now, all we need to know is;

    - How'd you get all the demon hunter cards (please tell me its free)

    - Is there now going to be more cards per expansion?

    - How'd you get all the NEW priest class cards (please tell me its free)

    - What's the supposed new balance for FTP

By the way; the new demon hunter class looks like the new aggro tempo class. All effort to protecting the board with your cards and face. Almost like rogue but without the single removal option cards.

Holy Smite, Power Word: Shield, and Shadow Madness all seemed impossibly buffed, almost like an early april fools joke.

Gonna be funny seeing how the team reveals demon hunter tomorrow and try and act like the leak never happened

    • Question 1 and 3: cards without a mark under the text will be either added to your collection instantly or you'll need to level up with the demon hunter/priest class to gain them; cards with the mark will be obtainable through classic packs.

Question 2: I think they'll just print less neutral cards, having less neutral cards would also be good to preserve class identity.

      Question 4: I don't get it.
