Patch Notes

Site Update Notes - March 23, 2024

You can view our previous patch notes for March 20 here. All known issues are being tracked in our dedicated thread.

New Features

Accounts

  • You can now create an account with social sites.
    • We currently support Battle.net, Steam, Discord, Twitch, and Twitter.
    • If you want to add one of these accounts to your current Out of Games account so you can login with it, visit Account Management.

Realms

  • You can now create image threads!
    • Choose the image option when creating a thread to upload an image.
    • The description field is not mandatory, but we encourage folks to talk about their images.
    • Additionally this overhauls the UI for thread creation to be more inline with how other UI on the site works.
  • Threads now have icons!
    • Icons will be replaced by a thumbnail if we can generate one.
      • We generate thumbnails for images and any website link that provides an og:image meta property.
  • You can now preview the contents of a thread's original post right from thread listings.

Bug Fixes

General

  • Reduced JavaScript Payload
    • We were loading some scripts we were no longer using on the site. Small optimization, but worth noting!

Articles

  • Images on article listings will no longer cause layout shifts.

Realms

  • Deleting threads now correctly takes you back to the realm the thread belonged to.
  • Fixed an issue where tag updating on the thread edit form was causing server errors.

Hearthstone

  • Fixed an issue where cards wouldn't load in older expansion guides.

  • Great QOL update! The less passwords one has to remember, the better!

  • I couldn't agree more! Passwords are quickly becoming old fashioned and I'll be looking to integrate passkeys support into the site down the line to help with that.

  • Something that was changed recently is the forum post text field. While is has been modernized, the new text field removed functionality like the HS card tags (we have to manually add ['card']['/card'] now if we want to reference a HS card) and the spell check was removed ☹️

    I know we moving away from HS only content but man, having to manually add the card tags is annoying

  • I also notice not "really" being able to quote anyone's comment, or at least not the way it used to work.
    You can click "quote" but it appears as simply replying to a comments and doesn't bring the "quotation material" in the text box anymore.

  • Heya! Our Known Issues thread mentions the card bbcode tags being removed. It was not an intentional change, just when we upgraded the editor all our old plugins no longer worked. The next site update will have this resolved, alongside a bunch of other stuff!

    I have added the quote problem to the known issues thread. I missed adding it in the last thread update.
