If you buy "Traditional Heartstone"(tm) packs for gold you can double-click/double-tap on the "100 gold" button on the left to enter a custom amount. I tested this with Stormwind packs. This seems not to work with Mercenaries packs.
This is not good for Blizzard because I would've sacrificed some of my gold for this but not if I have to buy the packs one by one. Perhaps I've already lost interest in the mode once this is fixed.

I'm sure it didn't keep you from buying Hearthstone packs before they added that feature.
It's probably on their to-do list. It's certainly not worth getting huffy.

As far as I'm aware, on PC, being able to be buy multiple packs with gold was always a feature, or at least was added really early on. Mobile lagged behind on this, until the shop redesign, and that did actually stop me from wanting to buy packs through the mobile client.
However.
With Mercenaries seemingly having so much reused code and assets, why are basic features missing like being able to buy multiple packs or reordering my parties? The menus are almost 100% identical in pretty much every way aside from a different background and mercenaries themselves having their own menu to upgrade them.
