So yeah, after spending a bunch of dust on Vectus and Teron Gorefiend I concluded that they are, in fact, not really enough for Hunter right now. However, while fiddling around with various builds of Deathrattle and Quest Hunter (and combinations of both) I realized that Zixor, Apex Predator synergizes extremely well with Nine Lives. Basically two Nine Lives equal 4 extra Zixor Prime which are extremely powerful with the Quest Hero power when it comes to putting on pressure later on.
Since Leeroy Jenkins rotated, Quest Hunter has been kind of a crap deck because you don't have the immediate burst and require on sticking a board. Spamming ZIxor basically remedies that for various reasons:
a) it provides you with ways to keep fighting for the board and getting in chip damage here and there
b) it prevents you from hitting fatigue too fast
c) for some reason there's a surprising lack of boardclears in the meta even with all the existing Control decks.
As a result, your opponent usually starts to panick at Zixor number 3. If that's not enough you still have Unleash the Hounds.
The gameplan is basically to stay alive for as long as possible and trade as efficiently as you can while conserving ressources and getting in chip damage. The early turns can be rough against snowballing decks like DH and Paladin, but in the midgame you can contest surprisingly well.Hunter's Mark is incredible these days against Priests and Druids. [Hearthstone Card (Clear the Way!) Not Found] is also necessary for power spikes.
Weaving in your hero power whenever you don't necessarily need to develop the board is recommended because chip damage is key.
Overwhelm is a pretty strong addition in this deck specifically. Quest Hunter has always struggled with dealing medium damage and this helps tremendously. Don't bother with Adorable Infestation, it does nothing when drawn later.
Also, never play your Zixor openly against classes that can steal of silence it. If Zixor doesn't die your Nine Lives is useless.
Been playing quite a bit around D5 now and it has a surprisingly efficient matchup spread (except Stealth Aggro Rogue and Big Warrior because you can'T beat Rattlegore unless you tech in Owl)
Anyways, if you liked Quest hunter back in Uldum then you will probably like this as well since it plays similarly if a bit slower
Changelog:
Removed 1x Clear the Way because it's just too clunky. Added another Cult Master instead because draw is really important, especially since Nine LIves is both essential and a dead topdeck.
Also removed Sky General Kragg, he just wasn't pulling his weight. Added a Teacher's Pet as filler for now because I wanted to see if additional defense helps the deck. Maybe Bone Wraith is a better alternative though. Consider it a flex spot for whatever card you think fits better.
