Legends of Runeterra has many card effects that are common enough that they get their own keyword - a word or two that immediately tells you how the card works. Let's take a look at the Nexus Strike keyword.
Effect when the unit Strikes the enemy Nexus.
It's not enough to just strike any ol' thing: sometimes you have to go after the real enemy.
Nexus Strike means just that: you have to hit the enemy Nexus to gain the effect. The game only ends when the enemy Nexus is done for, so get to it!
Keywords that Work Great with Nexus Strike
Elusive ensures that you'll be able to bypass defenders and hit your true target. Elusive units can only be blocked by other Elusive units, so dash right on past the front lines and get at the heart of the enemy.
Playing Against Nexus Strike in Legends of Runeterra
The name gives away the intention, so block accordingly. If your opponent cannot reach your Nexus, then they can't benefit from Nexus Strikes, now can they?
Example Legends of Runeterra Nexus Strike Cards
Teemo is an especially annoying Champion (just like in League of Legends), hiding in the bushes until he's ready to Nexus Strike and fill your deck with Poison Puffcaps.
Chempunk Pickpocket "borrows" a copy of a spell in your opponent's deck, with all the potential that could bring. Defeat your opponent with their own spells, laughing all the while.
Silent Shadowseer is Ephemeral, so it dies after completing its mission. However, a new one is added to your hand, allowing you to keep the chain going. Keep chippin' away at the enemy Nexus!
Midenstokke Henchmen summons an exact copy of himself after each Nexus Strike, meaning it comes with all the damage, buffs, and/or debuffs that were already present.
