What Are Experts in Whiteout Survival?

Experts are a game mechanic in Whiteout Survival introduced on August 4th, 2025. They greatly affect various game systems and for that reason are extremely important part of game for all players.

Rules Overview

Tundra Trek & Frontier Trek

Tundra Trek

The adventure starts with Tundra Trek. This is the main way to unlock new Experts, continue increasing their Affinity or collect various rewards and upgrade items.

You'll need Trek Supplies to be able to go on Tundra Trek encounters.

• You get 20 Trek Supplies daily at 00:00 UTC.

• You can claim 10 Trek Supplies for free at 8:00 and 20:00 UTC.

• You can further spend up to 4x 1,000 Gems to get extra 20 Trek Supplies (4x5).

You can have more than 100 Trek Supplies at once, even claiming or buying over the 100 supply limit. But you will not get the 20 Trek Supplies at day reset if you are over the limit, or you will get only enough to reach the limit if you are between 80 and 100.

I highly recommend buying the extra 20 Trek Supplies every day.

One of the best investment for your Gems. It will accelerate the speed at which you develop Experts by about 50%. You get 40 Trek Supplies for free each day, plus the 20 you buy for Gems to a total of 60 Trek Supplies daily.

Why?

Because if you can do more Trek Encounters, you will progress through Achievements faster getting more Common Sigils and Books, but you will also get more rewards from Endless Wayfarer rewards track. And of course the more encounters you do, the higher statistical chance to luck into more Sigil rewards for various Experts.

If you want to go the extra mile, you can even buy 10 Frontier Trek supplies from VIP shop each week too. More about that in next section.

Frontier Trek

After going through 60 Tundra Trek Encounters, a new Frontier Trek opens up.

In this game mode you can hand-pick which Experts you want to work towards and eliminate the randomness of Tundra Trek. You will only get encounters for your chosen Expert.

You can pick a specific Expert you have already met in Tundra Trek and focus solely on their development. You can speed up unlocking specific Experts this way without having to wait to randomly progress via Tundra Trek.

You'll need Frontier Supplies to be able to go on Tundra Trek encounters.

• You get 10 Frontier Supplies for free the first time you unlock the game mode.

• You can buy 10 Frontier Supplies each week from VIP Shop for 7,500 Gems if your VIP Level is 9 or more.

• You can buy Frontier Supplies in various packs for money.

Auto Trek

Around the same time you unlock Frontier Trek, or perhaps few more encounters after, you unlock a feature called Auto Trek for both game modes. You can use it to greatly speedup the animations and save some time trekking.

It is a great feature, but beware of the little check-mark "Auto-manage options and mini-games".

It will allow you to basically go afk and let it run on its own, but it has one huge downside. It will often pick the worse dialogue option or outright fail some of the mini-games resulting in a lot less rewards. So keep that in mind.

Idle Trek

On July 6th, 2026 another trekking option was added - Idle Trek.

With Auto-Trek, you were forced to stay in the Tundra Trek screen to keep it running, but with Idle Trek that is no longer a requirement.

You can select the amount of Trek Supplies you want to spend and the trekking will be happening in the background. You can then do other stuff in the game. Returning back to Tundra Trek screen, or going offline will stop the Idle Trek prematurely.

When Idle Trek finishes, you will get a highlighted icon which you can click on and redeem all the rewards that you have gotten.

Word of warning, it has the same downside as Auto-Trek with "Auto-manage options and mini-games" option on. It often picks the worse option resulting in lower rewards and fails some mini-games outright (Cooking and Fishing). I believe you get 0 Books of Knowledge from failed fishing compared to a 100.

But if you are a person who truly hates trekking manually, this is a great option for you because low rewards are still better than no rewards, should you just keep stockpiling Trek Supplies without using them (and wasting the 20 from day reset) because you don't want to engage with the game mode.

When Should You Upgrade Experts and Who To Upgrade First?

It depends on everyone's preference, and I am sure most of you will be hyped and won't be able to wait. But know that various events like SVS Prep, King of Icefield and Armament Competition get added Expert upgrade items to gain points in these events.

Those items are:

• Expert Sigils

• Books of Knowledge

• Learning Speedups

With that said, as you can see further down this guide, first levels of Experts' relationship advancement and cost of upgrading their skills does not take that many upgrade items, but they do provide substantial benefits - so for that reason I do NOT recommend waiting with upgrading (some) Experts to a certain degree when you first unlock them because you would be losing out on a lot of rewards. Upgrade their first levels ASAP to unlock the skills you want to upgrade.

Recommended Upgrade Priority

When First Experts Unlock (GEN3)

Agnes

First and foremost. Ideally getting her to Casual 2 ASAP. Probably first Expert you will max to 100 eventually.

Cyrille

Second. Getting her to Casual 1. You can later max her to 100, but that damage increase should be so marginal that it doesn't have to be a priority.

Holger

Getting him to Casual 2 slowly but surely. Possibly second Expert to be maxed to 100 in the future.

Romulus

Forget he exists, I do not recommend investing any Common Sigils into him, unless you are a big spender, then he might be a priority for you.

When second generation of Experts Unlock (GEN4)

Baldur

ASAP. You should probably have Agnes and Cyrille skills maxed at this point, and Holger be at least Casual 2, but if not switch gears and get Baldur to Close 2 first so you can max his skills! He will help you develop other Experts faster.

Fabian

Should get to Acquaintance 3 to get +70% Arsenal Tokens via 1st skill. If you want to upgrade him further because you love Foundry and want the boosts, that's your choice. Incidentally, if you never play Foundry, then you can skip this Expert entirely.

Valeria

Should be priority for everyone, but given how expensive she is, you might have to aim for different levels.

Non-spenders should get her to Acquaintance 3 ASAP that will let you upgrade 1st skill to level 7 providing +14% SVS Prep Points.

Next decent break-point is Casual 1, getting more Sunfire Tokens each day of Prep and unlocking Books of Knowledge in SVS shop.

Maxing her skills (Close 2 needed) would net you up to 15 Common Expert Sigils each SVS, but getting there first would cost 720 Sigils. So rushing her would make her pay for herself faster, but you might have other priorities at the time.

Further On

Ronne

Good option to get more rewards from Tundra Trucks event. You can send more trucks, get more rewards from escorting and raiding, and protect yourself to not lose as much cargo while being raided. Faster escorts and more free truck refreshes to find what you want.

Kathy

Game mode specific, only for Frostfire Mine. If you love the game mode, she is a must. Without her you can forget about top leaderboard placements.

If you hate the game mode she can let you basically be AFK for entire duration and still get most rewards; all rewards with getting the level 1 passive Orichalcum regen skill first.

If you couldn't care less about Frostfire Mine, you can skip her, she is quite expensive to upgrade.

Gareth

More expensive than Romulus, that should be all you need to know :) But in reality, he has one decent skill for non-spenders and you can get some speedups, Fire Crystals and Troop Health and Defense buffs from it.

I recommend getting him to Acquaintance 3 so you get 20 rewards chest daily. Then forget about him unless you are a big spender / rally leader.

Justus

Finally a great non-spender Expert again. Similar to Baldur, this one is a must to max all skills, and potentially max his level too. Multiple skills award you with a rewards chest that contains Expert upgrade materials meaning he will help you upgrade other Experts that much faster.

RNG and Sigils acquisition speed will decide which Expert you can upgrade and how fast.

You should upgrade multiple Experts a little bit to unlock their skills and get some head-start before you fully focus on getting one to a level you want.

But from all the Experts, Baldur (GEN4) should be your top priority ASAP when he arrives, and same with Justus (GEN5). To the extent where you should plan for them ahead of time knowing when they unlock and be ready to get them to Close 2 and max their skills as fast as possible.

How To Unlock Experts?

First, you need to randomly meet an expert trekking in Tundra Trek. Then, you have to follow along their Storyline encounters and once you reach 1,000 Affinity with them, then they join your City.

If you want to unlock Experts asap, you should choose dialogue options that do what the Expert instructed and which do not side-track you - so generally do not help others and be a bit of an a-hole :) You can save up on Trek or Frontier Supplies, but lose out on some bonus rewards.

Combine Frontier Trek and Tundra Trek when unlocking Experts

Speed up your unlocking progress with an Expert through Frontier Trek.

After you meet the new Expert, stop Tundra Trek and go to Frontier Trek. Select them and do as many Frontier Encounters until you unlock them.

In Frontier Trek, if you still don't have the selected Expert unlocked, you are guaranteed to get their Storyline encounters one after the other. It will typically take around 20-25 encounters.

This is much better way to unlocking new Experts than hoping to luck into their Storyline encounters randomly in Tundra Trek. So when you know a new Expert is coming, save up at least 20-30 Frontier Supplies ahead of time to be ready to unlock them right away when they arrive.

Once you unlock the Expert, you can continue trekking in Frontier Trek, or you can go back to Tundra Trek.

Dawn Academy

Once you unlock your first Expert, Cyrille, you will be able to build a new building - Dawn Academy. When you unlock another Expert, a new room sprouts to life for them to reside in.

• Fun fact: Each player might have a different Expert (apart from Cyrille) occupy a different room based on the order they unlocked them in.

If you have only one Construction Queue unlocked and you are currently building something, you cannot build the Dawn Academy right away.

• You either have to wait for the previous construction to finish, or purchase the second Queue - permanently (via pack) or temporarily (with 2,000 Gems).

• The build time is 00:00, but sadly, you cannot bypass the construction queue limit by speeding up construction with Gems (so only spending like 1 Gem) as with regular buildings.

Similarly, if you have two queues which both have active constructions, you will have to speed them up or wait.

Learning Experts' Skills

Each Expert has five Skills you can unlock by increasing their Relationship Level. Four of those can then be upgraded with Books of Knowledge via learning process in Dawn Academy and one upgrades naturally as your Relationship Level raises.

You can use Learning Speedups, or General Speedups, to accelerate the learning process.

How To Cancel Learning an Expert's Skill

You can Cancel learning of Expert's Skill if you want to, maybe you miss-clicked or changed your mind.

• No refunds for time spent learning or speedups used are given, so keep that in mind!

After an update on August 17, 2026 the Cancel button is now clearly visible on the skill learning screen.

Prior to this update, the Cancel button was very well hidden for some reason, so this is how you would get to it (you can still apply this method today):

1. Navigate to the Skill you are currently learning.

2. Click on the "!" icon behind its name.

3. Skill's overview page opens up and there you can see the Cancel button.

4. Click on the Cancel button to stop learning the skill.

Increasing Experts' Affinity and Relationship Level

This works similarly to how you upgrade Pets. You level them up and then Advance.

You can donate certain items to increase Affinity of Experts or get an increase randomly via Trek encounters.

When you reach enough Affinity, you can progress your Relationship with them unlocking stat bonuses and higher level Skills.

To Advance Relationship, you will need Sigils. They act in a similar fashion as Hero Shards, you can get Common Sigils as general variant that can be traded for specific Expert's Sigils.

Each Expert has 100 Relationship Levels divided by 10 thresholds for Relationship Advancement.

Expert's Research

When you max out an Expert's Affinity levels, you unlock a new tab - Research.

There are three branches to further unlock more Troop stats for each expert. The cost of maxing the research is greatly higher than maxing Expert's Affinity. This is only for the mega-whales. Others can safely forget about it.

Endless Wayfarer

On the rewards track you can earn extra rewards as you progress through the Trek and earn points. If you want more, you can buy packs.

• 1 Tundra Trek encounter = 1 point

• 1 Frontier Trek encounter = 3 points

The Endless Wayfarer event repeats every two weeks - right after it ends, it starts again.

Tip: On the last day, make sure you don't end up "wasting" encounters. What I mean by this, when you reach the end of the rewards track, which will happen in the first week for active players, then you get bonus rewards for every 30 Trek encounters. But you should make sure to end on 0/30 on last Sunday, so you don't end up with something like 20/30 - those 20 encounters would have been wasted and would not contribute towards another reward.

You can buy two packs for extra rewards. You can buy them repeatedly whenever Endless Wayfarer refreshes.

Cyrille, Bear Huntress

• Cyrille is a first generation Expert and was added to the game on August 4th, 2025.

Relationship Advancement

• Total Cost = 275 Sigils

Skills

Entrapment

Cyrille's incredible group hunting skills allows her to call many more to the hunter's feast, increasing Bear Hunt Rally Capacity by 300,000.

Scavenging

No hunting weapon is lost in Cyrille's capable hands. Her recycling efforts grant 5x 100 Enhancement XP rewards every Bear Hunt.

Weapon Master

Cyrille's knowledge extends to hero gear expertise, increasing Essence Stone rewards obtained in Bear Hunt by 5.

Ursa's Bane

Cyrille's command skill transfers well into the hunting realm, increasing Bear Hunt Troops Deployment Capacity by 30,000.

Hunter's Heart

Cyrille is a repository of bear-hunting skills and knowledge, increasing Bear Hunt Damage Points by 30% (effective for self only).

Agnes, Elite Politician

• Agnes is a first generation Expert and was added to the game on August 4th, 2025.

Relationship Advancement

• Total Cost = 275 Sigils

Efficient Recon

Not all spymaster plans are created equal, and Agnes is a master of enhanced Lighthouse scouting, giving 8 extra Intel Missions per day.

Optimization

Improved can production efficiency boosts Storehouse Chief Stamina gain by 40.

Project Management

Good project management is a precursor to efficient construction. Agnes speeds up construction by 8 hours on every new build.

Covert Knowledge

The wisdom of the ancients has not been forgotten by Agnes, giving 120 additional Mystery Badge(s) upon daily mission completion and 4 more free refreshes at Mystery Merchant.

Earthbreaker

Agnes' advanced drill machine can even identify useful items buried near gathered resources. Gives 5 Seeker Chest(s) every 120 gathering minutes (up to a cap of 30).

Holger, Arena Legend

• Holger is a first generation Expert and was added to the game on August 4th, 2025.

Relationship Advancement

• Total Cost = 440 Sigils

Skills

Arena Elite

Tough training gets tough trainee results. Holger's rigorous program increases Arena heroes' escort Attack and Health by 20%.

Crowd Pleaser

Holger knows how to put on a show and so will his heroes. Holger's classic crowd-pleasers increase both daily and weekly Arena Tokens earned by 50%.

Arena Star

Holger is a true Ace of the Arena and that means his Chiefs and heroes get the star treatment: 3 more items in the Arena Shop at an 50% discount.

Legacy

Holger is in the Arena legend-creation process, giving the next generation of heroes 20% additional Attack and Health.

Blade Dancing

Holger knows the best rewards in the Arena are often won from the crowd. Holger's winsome techniques give 100% chance of audience reward: 3 Arena Star Chest(s).

Romulus, Military Advisor

• Romulus is a first generation Expert and was added to the game on August 4th, 2025.

Relationship Advancement

• Total Cost = 1,820 Sigils

Call of War

Romulus mobilizes to win, allowing free recruitment of 600 additional high-level troops from any Camp per day as well as an additional 10 Loyalty Tag(s).

Last Line

Solaris' Tactics didn't save the empire, but Romulus can rework them to protect you. Romulus' techniques increase Attack and Defense by 10% (additive bonus).

Spirit of Aeetes

The Aeetes may be gone, but their spirit lives on in Romulus and his men, increasing all troops' Lethality and Health by 10% (additive bonus).

One Heart

Romulus has commanded armies far greater than those of today, enhancing your Rally Capacity by 100,000.

Commander's Crest

Commander Romulus is an expert at large deployments, increasing heroes' Expedition Army size limit by 10,000.

Baldur, Negotiator

"Baldur is a diplomat of the Dawn Alliance. He navigates effortlessly among allies with his calm intelligence and unexpected strategies, ensuring the Alliance gains the most in non-combat domains."

Honored Conquest

Baldur has crafted more badges to showcase outstanding Alliance contributors. +50% Alliance Championship Badges in Alliance Championship and +3 Alliance Championship Shop items.

Bounty Hunter

Baldur has added his fortune to the sizeable bounty on Crazy Joe and her underlings, earning +50% Crazy Joe point rewards and a bonus Chest per 200,000 points (limit of 10 per season).

Dawn Hymn

Baldur is a master strategist particularly around points, gaining +50% Alliance Showdown points (Tundra Trade Route excepted) and a 3 daily Milestone Reward tier boost.

Battle Bulwark

Weapons production is a subset of Fabian's expertise, giving squads greater focus in Foundry Battle and Tundra Hellfire with +150,000 Rally Capacity.

Valeria, High Marshal

• Valeria is a second generation Expert and was added to the game on December 23rd, 2025.

Relationship Advancement

Valeria showcases her talent for commanding large-scale expeditions, all troops' Attack and Defense +30% in State of Power Battle Phase.

Well Prepared

Valeria pays meticulous attention to every detail during battle preparation, gaining +20% State of Power's Preparation Phase Points gains, and +3 bonus tiers for daily Personal Point rewards.

Radiant Honor

Valeria's rally ignites the troops' desire for glory, increasing Sunfire Tokens earned when claiming Medal Rewards by 50 and adding 3 extra items to the State of Power shop.

Battle Concerto

Valeria demonstrates exceptional tactical mastery, all troops' Lethality and Health +30% during State of Power's Battle Phase.

Crushing Force

Valeria's remarkable leadership increases Rally Capacity in State of Power Battle Phase by 150,000.

Ronne, Convoy Queen

• Ronne was released in eligible States on March 2nd, 2026.

Ronne is the undisputed ruler of the Tundra Trade Routes. When her caravan is raided or when she attacks other trucks in the tundra, Troops gain +30% Attack and Defense. (When escorting an ally's truck, only the escorting player's skill takes effect).

Cartographic Memory

Ronne's photographic route memory accelerates arrival times by 20%. Her storied reputation with clients allows 3 more free refreshes per truck.

Treasure Scent

Ronne's nose for sniffing out hidden truck treasure is second to none, granting a 100% chance of raiding 1 extra cargo.

Giving Back

Ronne retaliates with even greater strength when raided, gaining +50% chance of recovering 1 cargo. Ronne also escorts an additional 2 "Elite Guardboxes" that cannot be raided.

Gold Class

An escort guard of Ronne's renown is always highly sought after, ensuring a "Legendary" escort mission after each 4 completed missions (which remains even if refreshed). Legendary Trucks can only be raided once. Ronne can also undertake 1 additional mission daily.

Kathy, Mining Specialist

Mine Leader Kathy is joining your adventure! Her courage and leadership will help you conquer the challenges of Frostfire Mine.

• Kathy was released in eligible States on April 16th, 2026.

Relationship Advancement

Kathy's Frostfire Mine expertise gained over many years increases our troops' Lethality and Health by 30% in Frostfire Mine Battles.

Valorous Cold

Kathy's leadership skills honed in the burning cold of Frostfire allow 50,000 extra troops capacity and shorten hero recovery after defeat by 60%.

Winter Treasures

The art of Orichalcum cutting transfers well to Charms. Kathy will obtain 60 additional Charm Designs on obtaining 200,000 Orichalcum in Frostfire Mine event.

Efficient Mining

Kathy's efficient mining teams never waste a moment even between battles. Kathy earns 5,000 Orichalcum per minute once the Frostfire Mine battle phase begins. Kathy will obtain 100 additional Charm Guides on obtaining 200,000 Orichalcum in the Frostfire Mine event.

Gareth, Ironthorn Chief

A young commander from the Jarnvid Mountains, Gareth has earned the legendary title of “Ironthorn” by repeatedly repelling Mordheim’s invasions with his exceptional leadership and flexible tactics!

• Gareth released in eligible States on July 20th, 2026.

The mountains of Jarnvid are home to many legendary warriors, but none more famous than Commander Gareth, prince and son of the High Chief.

From childhood, every son of Jarnvid is trained to wield spear and lance. Their fierce resolve and unbreakable brotherhood make them feared warriors both at home and abroad.

Even among these champions, Gareth stood out as a gifted young commander. Enemies who dismissed him as a mere mountain barbarian quickly learned how deadly his tactics could be.

Jarnvid's mercenaries face enemies with close formations and iron discipline, +50% Troops' Defense.

Undefeated Will

Gareth’s encouragement and command unleash his soldiers’ maximum potential, +50% Troops' Health.

Fearsome Reputation

Fear of the “Spiked Commander” is the end for weakened enemies, reducing Enemy Troops' Lethality by 5%.

• Note: Lethality reduction is multiplicative like Pet debuffs.

Justus, Royal Counselor

Eleonora's royal counselor, offers tremendous help in managing your city's daily affairs.

• Justus released in eligible States on October 26th, 2026.

After Gen 5 Heroes unlock, Justus will join as a new Growth Expert. His skills provide large amounts of Dynasty Honor Chest, which contain valuable Expert growth materials. Justus can also increase Pet Adventure attempts and may trigger double Adventure Rewards.

Former Glory

Justus knows where some nobles of the old dynasty hid their treasures. Every 60 minutes, you can earn 3 Dynasty Honor Chest(s) as your Exploration Rewards, up to 10 per day.

Glorious Gains

Justus is fluent in a nearly forgotten ancient language, allowing him to communicate with the underground inhabitants more effectively and learn more about the underground world. Glowstones obtained from Labyrinth Raids +20%.

Treasure Seeker

The beast-taming techniques once practiced by the Solaris Dynasty’s nobility have enhanced the treasure-hunting efficiency of your Pets. Daily Pet Adventure attempts +2, with a 35% chance of granting double rewards.

Master Diplomat

Justus excels at gathering information about treasures from allies. You can earn 5 Dynasty Honor Chest(s) from each beast rally, up to 10 per day.

Fortune Wayfarer

Justus has a keen eye for hidden treasures along the journey. For every 4 Trek Encounter(s) completed, you can earn 4 Dynasty Honor Chest(s), up to 20 per day.

Achievements

Shops and Packs

You can buy various upgrade materials and Trek Supplies in Alliance Championship and VIP Shops, or buy them in packs.

• 1 Frontier Supply costs 750 gems and there is 10 of them available. You need to be Furnace Lv. 25 and VIP Lv. 9 or more.

• Special packs appear after you upgrade an Expert.

Conversion rate for the currency on the picture is 25 CZK ~ 1 USD.
