80g Quest Trading Fraudster: Vegetaz (HaVoC#2426)
Hi all,
Can I warn anyone using the 80g Quest Trading thread not to trade with Vegetaz (Battletag: HaVoC#2426), as I strongly suspect she/he's using the thread to farm community members for their 80 gold quests when she/he doesn't have one to trade with. Reasons I suspect this are as follows:
I currently have the 80g quest and viewed the 80g Quest thread at around 7am GMT today to find the latest EU member who had posted, so I could do a quick trade. Vegetaz/HaVoC had posted, offering the trade, on the condition that whoever responded goes first, so I requested him/her in the game. She/he accepted me. So far, so good. I then asked to see Vegetaz/HaVoC's quest before I initiated a game (and my 80g quest) with him/her.
At this point, Vegetaz/HaVoC posted back with words to the effect of "What, don't you trust me? Just play your quest or I'll find someone else.". I replied saying, basically, "Well, why would I trust you? I've only just met you?" At that point Vegetaz/HaVoC defriended me, with no further reply. I reported the post with the information I've given here. I also had another look at Vegetaz/HaVoC's post on the 80g thread and noticed it had been downvoted. I added my own downvote for good measure.
I checked the site when I got home from work about half an hour ago, and Vegetaz's post has been removed, presumably as a result of me reporting it. However, I had a look back over the last few pages of the thread. On page 22, Vegetaz has posted five separate offers of the 80g quest over the course of the last week, and each post has been downvoted, suggesting another member has been fleeced by him / her, or smelt a rat, as I did.
I hope none of the mods mind me flagging this up in a separate thread, but it seems like this user is a serial scammer. I see that there isn't currently a blacklist at the start of the 80g thread (as was the case on the old site) and I'm not sure if the thread is regularly monitored by any mods, so there's possibly a vulnerability that's being exploited here. I think the community on this site is awesome - a lot more respectful of each other than the old site - and I just wanna do my bit to keep it that way.
Anyway, that's it. Bottom line is, don't trade with Vegetaz (Battletag: HaVoC#2426)
Peace out,
Majere

May all your legendaries be golden.
Just bumping this, as I see vegetaz posted again today, and the post has been down voted again (not by me), suggesting another scam victim.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how this sort of behaviour can be addressed, as not only does it mean people can regularly be scammed out of 80 gold, but it damages the integrity of the site? Please share your ideas!
May all your legendaries be golden.
Have you reported this to the site's admins (either through PM or on Discord)?
I don't feel like creating a thread is the correct way to tackle this issue.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I don't tend to post in forums much, so I'm not very familiar with the etiquette of these kinda sites. I realise my post isn't a great way to address the issue, but figured it was better than doing nothing. I also thought that reporting the post might have led to wider action than simply deleting it, but I guess not.
Haven't a clue what Discord is, but I'll gladly take your advice and pm a mod today.
May all your legendaries be golden.
Yes , you defenitely should report this to a Mod via PM ! and yes, they should add a "blacklist" at the start of the 80G Trading Thread !
I personaly only trade the quest with people i know personaly or "online" friends i know a long time via the game :)

This user's been farming 80 g quests (or he's been accused to do so) for a while: I remember seeing complaints about his behavior even months ago (despite him having another site nickname before, but I clearly remember the battletag).
He keeps posting trade requests with a few hours between them, which leads to three conclusions:
1) He keeps finding 80 g quests in his quest log: he's very lucky! Btw I find them with a one-in three-weeks rate...
2) He really struggles finding friends to trade with (again, highly probable since it usually doesn't take more than a day to get rid of your quest)
3) The most realistic one, based on users' experience, he's a pesky scammer.
I've been trading quests for a while now, and from my personal experience I've met so many players that, after I accept their friend request, invite me to a friendly match without even making sure if I have a quest or not. In certain cases it's really easy to scam people (especially young or unexperienced ones), so people like him have easy life in such environment.
Like other users said, don't report the single post but the whole situation to an admin,

Ok, so it's me again. Since I don't want to throw shit at other people without having actual proofs of what I'm saying, I decided to send this guy a friend request and see his reaction.
What you find below is the actual chat, which ends after he unfriended me (I wonder why): please not that I didn't edit out any message and that I did not insult him in any way.

I actually wasn't able to upload in pictures on this post (It's strange: sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't: can anyone help me with that?), but if you click on the link you'll find two screenshots from Battle.net.

Yes just tried with this battletag, and indeed he did the exact same thing despite I was polite, and simply asked for proof of quest before me going first.
Can post the screenshot if it's helpful and not against site rules (hopefully this post itself is not either).
I note this user is listed on HP's scammers page also. I would recommend checking this page even if using the OOC thread.
It's a shame there are people like this. Once I went second and internet went down before I completed my quest with other guy after we'd already done his. I immediately contacted him via PM using another device to explain and reassure him he'd be getting the quest as soon as Internet went back up which I did within the hour. He was fine about it, but I was mortified he'd think I was scamming him.
All generalizations are false.
BLACKLIST
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
I vote to have this list added to the top of the thread ASAP. I just got scammed myself, and it turns out the battletag was on that blacklist.
I sent the first challenge, intending it to be a proof challenge, but they accepted instead of declined. I feel like a complete fucking idiot for not backing out of the deck selection.
Sorry to hear that m8. Remember the game doesn't count for the quest unless one of you is below 15 health when it ends, so you can concede any time before then and retain your quest.

Never knew that. I just thought that, like me, my opponent wanted to play out the game.
I'm not sure trading is worth it anymore. I play on NA, and lately it's been taking forever to find an opponent to trade with. Last time I think it took two weeks. Now that I think about it, I was probably too eager to get it out of the way, as it had already been three days, and that left me more vulnerable to getting scammed.
I just wanted to bump this up because Vegetaz (Battletag: HaVoC#2426) posted again in the Trading Thread!
Be careful as long as the list is not added to the Official Trading Post!

Tbh I am never using that thread again, got scammed once and it's enough if I need anyone to do the 80 gold quest I will just trade with my friends who normally play with me with theirs when they have it. Prefer to gain half the gold than to give it to jerks.
That's totally comprehensible, but it's really a shame that you have to get less than you could just because some players are scumbags that want to fool others.
Even if I didn't do anything to cause that, I feel sorry for you.
Spice Lord and self-proclaimed Meme Master.
There's a specific thread on Reddit for quest trade purposes too: when you get one, you should create a post both here and there.

Yes i also only trade or even just play if only i have it with my friends because they do the same if they have it and i don't!
And there are lots of scammers out there!

I pmed frostyfeet about this last night and he got back to me about half an hour later.
He said there has been talk in the long term of implementing a trading system that allows you to tracks users' reputations etc., but that will be for further down the line, presumably because it would take quite a bit of work.
In the short term, he's contacted the mod team with a view to investigating a solution for the current 80g Trading thread.
In the mean time I guess we just tread carefully: trade at our own risk, ideally arrange to complete your opponent's trade first and, if not, always ask to see your opponent's quest before trading. Failing that, just give your 80g to a friend :)

I remember seeing that thread before. They point you to this questshares site, saying to try it first. I tried it one time I had the quest, found nobody after many tries, then gave up on it forever. I decided to just use the forum for trading. I guess that reddit thread is probably about as safe as posting here is, though.
It definitely seems this site and hearthpwn are a lot more popular in Europe than North America. I guess more North Americans prefer reddit or something.
