About to hit level 229. Finishing up the last grindy (not RNG dependent) Onyxia's Lair XP achievements and just spamming Standard and Ranked Ladder in these final days of the Year of the Gryphon.
Augmented Porcupine: I really wanted control hunter to be a thing, and the idea of buffing this beast up and having it clear the board once dead was just the perfect board clear design that never worked out.
Skeletal Dragon: Such a boring name for this card but guess this was the expansion right after DoD. Just biased as it generates dragons and pushed a dragon/control/value archetype
I doubt that there'll be anything that could reasonably beat Kazakusan
i may be wrong, but i bet that the meta will change so drastically in a way we can't even immagine because of the new cards that kazakusan will turn unplayed eventually
I am strugling with The General in BRM. Watched videos and tried different setups but no luck so far. Losing mercs before i am even there as well. I have the idea i need more maxed out mercenaries for this to get it done.
Am i right in this or what do you suggest to get it done?
Just curious, what team are you running in BRM anyway? The enemies there aren't usually too bad, definitely not as bad as winterspring.
I tried with Xyrella, Malfurion, Brukan, King Mukla, Cairne and Samuro
Then replace Cairne and Samuro for Anduin and Velen. I can remember I had Gruul in there before, no idea why i took it out....scratches head

You really should just get liferoot staff on Malfurion and go full nature bros, Malfurion/Guff/Brukan. Absolutely absurd damage from guff just destroys red bosses.
Xyrella is a good choice, because she deals well with many of BRM's DOT enemies like core hound. I'd personally have Xyrella/Gruul/Brightwing as my secondary. Or if you dont have brightwing, you can just go either cariel/mutanus for taunt or Chi-ji for heal.
Kazakusan basically has ruined the meta, either you play him or you beat him, there's no inbetween. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get nerfed again post-rotation.
The recent removal of locusts changes alot, and honestly kazakusan is only truly OP in druid, where ramp can reach an absurd 5 mana advantage around turn 7-8.
In most other decks, its a decent pay off but its still 8 mana do nothing, making it hard to play and not fall behind or outright die. Plus, despite what it feels like, there's definitely more than a small chance of kazakusan giving you utterly shit treasures and basically bottom up your game.
Unfortunately, that's what we usually get whenever there's a combo meta...or a druid meta. Perhaps its the same thing, because thus far the only druid deck that actually plays the same way other decks do is taunt aggro druid.
Its not even that difficult to see why. Combo and druid decks tend to die off very easily to hyper aggro and that in turn in chomped away by control decks. And it gets worse, because not many decks can outvalue control or a ramped up druid deck while trying to dodge hyper aggro decks as well. Basically if you're wanting a balanced deck that has a chance against most others, its quest rogue or burn shaman, and then pray hard you don't meet control warrior, the only bad matchup.

Eventually yes, but the rotation removes a shit-ton of power and leaves a lot of decks dry, meaning that unless the new expansion creates successful archetypes by itself (which rarely happens at the start of the year) I doubt that there'll be anything that could reasonably beat Kazakusan Control Warrior for instance (outside of hoping for a Mutanus snipe).

I think I'll pick Zai as well since my golden copy made it into all my DH decks, in a vain attempt to inject some shenanigan-ry into a class that I know has never been designed with shenanigans in mind. Zai gave me hope that DH could do something silly one day, but Illidan has remained characteristically serious thus far.

Since this expansion I didn't touch the game and sometimes I feel sad inside seeing news of it but some others I see games like Runeterra where you can play good pve modes and decent pvp games without spending any coin and just for fun a couple of times per week. Leaving aside a game like HS where I played since almost alpha was heartbreaking but time has prove that I was right.

The meta is very RPS currently. Biggest offenders are ramp druid and control warrior, who both (ab)use Kazakusan.
Druid is a 'fun' deck to play because it gets Kazakusan online very fast, so it's a popular deck. However, it folds to anything even slightly aggressive usually (face hunter, shadow priest, beast/taunt druid...). So the meta is filled with aggressive decks.
In comes control warrior, a deck with 29 removal cards and Kazakusan. Way too slow to beat the turbo ramp druids, but completely curbstomps aggro decks.
And there's your rock (aggro), paper (control warrior) and scissors (druid) meta. Luckily, the rotation is just around the corner.
Edit: The least polarizing deck is burn shaman, if you want to enjoy the meta without too much polarization.

Overall all the points above are very interesting and it's a pity they aren't this transparent all the time. It's totally understandable now why Mercs is in the state it is in, purely coz now we know Team 5 didn't expect players to finish content in a week and collect excess coins so quickly.

This. They said something like "It's PvE with some PvP elements". Which means PvE is a main focus, not PvP.
Personally I do 1 "PvP" daily - against bots, to get random coins (every month - until I reach 6k rating, which also gives 2 Mercs packs).
And then I sometimes leave PvE in the background to farm more Reward Track XP (while slooowly collecting some Merc coins).
(Leaving PvE encounter in the background (while I do something else) for 30 minutes gives 168 xp on a win and 120 xp on a loss)
