Year of the Toki sounds like a really cool idea! Mixing up different expansions and exploring what it would be like to have Mecha-Jaraxxus as a teacher sounds like time well spent.
It could be really cool to just have a huge battle between a ton of Hearthstone's big characters in a set. It might be a little weird with some of them coming in as Epics and Rares, maybe even Commons. One possible way around that could be them having a representative as they are too busy elsewhere "Ragnaros' Lava Spawn" "The Lich King's Servant". It would be Hearthstone's Battle Royale set, lol.
Oh I agree completely. Murlocs would be a very tough sell to have them be a major expansion component. The entire idea of the tribe would have to be flipped upside down to let them not be only aggressors.
The limiters that exist that you mention, the only standout really is Scargil and it would definitely give us a possible wild problem, but Standard would be okay. Murloc Knight and Underbelly Angler become less consistent with more Murlocs being added which is a huge benefit.
But yeah, as fun as it is to think about having an entire Murloc village expansion and the many directions the Hearthstone team could take it, I'd rather them not.
Yo, real talk, I'd love for them to bring back the Rastakhan characters. With Mercenaries making their appearances multiple times throughout this past year, it shows they know how to bring in that flavor multiple times for the same characters and it really works well. Plus, who doesn't love a good troll dungeon, mon?
I really hope we get to visit Northrend again. Knights of the Frozen Throne was an amazing expansion theme but I feel like they did it too early in Hearthstone's lifespan. It was a damn good idea to hit that when they did because everyone loves The Lich King and those themes, but the tech back then wasn't as good as it is now.
While bad now, just you wait 8 turns from now and I’ll have 7 more mana, and from there just you wait another 8 turns and I’ll have 56 more mana. What do you mean the game will be done by then?
This one is possibly one of the hardest one and was my very last - it also took me quite some time to get it - here are a few hints that may be useful to complete the riddle :
Show Spoiler
the card you are looking for gives you mana of any color and isn't a minion, nor a spell. Its relation to the event theme won't be found it its name but rather in its text.
Feel free to ask for more if those cryptic hints aren't sufficient!
Kazakusan basically has ruined the meta, either you play him or you beat him, there's no inbetween. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get nerfed again post-rotation.
Is the problem Kazakusan, or is the problem Lightning Bloom and Overgrowth? Those are the two that are turboing Kazakusan out. There have been plenty of games where I put on enough pressure so that the Druid can't spend 8 mana doing nothing. It's just you can't do that when their 8 mana is on turn 4.
I think I'm going to need help with the 8 turns, 7 more mana, another 8 turns, 56 more mana MTG clue.
Anyone? I've tried everything I can think of involving 8, 7, 56, turns and mana, and I either get way too many results, or the results don't include the right answer. Though the search function only does exact substrings, not each word is somewhere in the text.
Random thought: one group of Characters who got a lot of hype, then never really had their time in the sun, were the Rastakhan's Rumble champions. Year of the Troll?
Murlocs are better off as the theme of a miniset rather than a full expansion, like Pirates were in the Deadmines. There's just not a lot of mechanical complexity to them, and Murloc Knight, [Hearthstone Card (Scargill) Not Found], and Underbelly Angler are pretty significant design space limiters.
As much as it pains me to admit that. If I'm saying it, you know it's true.
The purpose of digital CCG was to create mechanics that players can't do in real life, like extract random cards from decks, steal cards from decks etc.
....oh, you can't rearrange cards in your own hands???
The "theme" of the next year is certainly going to be interesting. Not only do we know that the name will hint at old faces, but also that the last Expansion of the next year is going to be bigger than usual.
I also remember that (Iksar I belive) once talked about them brainstorming a alternative timeline expansion. Maybe they expanded that Idea and build a whole year around that idea? "Year of the Toki" incoming? The last expansion could then be something like a "clash of timelines" kind of thing with cards that are a mix of multiple past expansions (E.V.I.L Reno, Headteacher Mecha-Jaraxxus, Baku the Loa etc.). The possibilites are certainly enough to make the expansion bigger than usual.
Oh, well I'm probably dreaming of too much fan service here, but I'm very excited for the announcement of the next HS year (which should be very soon TM. I expect a stream announcement during the next week for the week after that)
Elementals are very midrange-y by design, so if they plan to return to that style of HS then they would be a good way about it. The 4 elemental lords also seem very plausible as characters to (re-)introduce into the Core set, although I don't much like the thought of a year of Rag RNG annoying me like it did back in the day.
Murlocs? Err... please no. By all means give shaman and paladin their share of them (maybe even scatter some more into DH), but I would be pretty annoyed if most classes are suddenly being pushed to play murlocs when they are mechanically misaligned. And let's be honest here, there's no point in trying to diversify murloc decks much. At that point you might as well make cards for other tribes that make more sense.
I have to admit that as a rogue main I'm pretty apathetic towards big tribe themes. Beyond pirates (which also seem to have been forgotten in Standard) the class never makes much sense with them, and only ever gets them incidentally.
Onyxia's Lair has been added. It ended up taking longer to post here since I was waiting for Dnikko to update HearthCards with the mini-set watermark and he just never did. In the end, I just decided to post it here.
This is it. We've made it to Onyxia's Lair for the final showdown! Infinis's goal has lead him to the lair itself where he has unlocked his potential for time manipulation and his last goal is to defeat Onyxia. All the mercenaries have lead themselves here and they're not backing down. Take the final charge!
You'd have to know how many of each card you had before the reward was opened, in order to know if anything was added. Otherwise, I don't know of any way to see what was most recently added.
So basically there's no way to know? It might even have been lost? Damn this sucks. Tried to go through my epics for possible new ones but I can't be sure...
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any other way that you could know if you actually got the rewards or not. In the end, though, if your collection is at a point where you can't tell, it probably doesn't make much difference either way
TBH, Scholomance didn't appeal to me that much, it was just another one of those whimsical HS expansions, with too many OP cards but the dual class mechanic was a breathe of fresh air. The only card I'll really miss is Vectus. He enabled some really spicy deathrattle archetypes but got overshadowed too quickly by better cards.
I'm surprised none of the staff mentioned they'll miss the old gods. Ahem...the old gods are the best thing that came out of this expansion and will be very sad to see them go, would never get bored of them.
Aside from them, there's very few cards a really enjoyed in DMF. Tent Trasher had cool art but that's my dragon bias for you.
Oh and does anyone remember Grand Totem Eys'or? Yup, neither did I till I went through the list of cards from this expansion.
The Cards We're NOT Going to Miss When Ashes of Outland Rotates
Hopefully Kayn gets the Diamond treatment. Outland's diamond card hopefully will be happening around the new year.

What about the Year of the Wraith/Banshee/Ghoul/Zombie/Bat?
Bring back Sylvanas, the Lich King, and all those other classic undead characters.

The Cards We're NOT Going to Miss When Ashes of Outland Rotates
Yeah, this is probably one of the biggest misses from the first two years of Demon Hunter.
It is also true that we rarely received a high focus on the Outcast mechanic.

Says you, I loved and will miss Libram Pally. Mostly because it was core to an Archetype I liked, Pure Pally, which will surely die out in standard.
The Cards We're NOT Going to Miss When Ashes of Outland Rotates
Kayn Sunfury - one of my favourite DH cards.
In my experience didn`t see much play lately.
All other cards I will not miss in Standard.

White whale? Am I missing something?
