Shadowcasting was insane on some scenarios. I fought a warrior using Shadow Casting and Double Legendary. Dropped a Rokkara on turn 2 and it was double rokkara's going forward each turn. At turn 5 there was no way of me stopping that board since he was getting double rokkara each turn and buffing everything that attacks 3 to 4 times
Keeping hero cards was a definite oversight given the circumstances, though I'm not too fussed about other big swing cards. It would be an optimisation to remove them, sure, but then someone at their end has to spend time making largely arbitrary decisions and coding it all in. Maybe it's as easy as copying and pasting lists over from Arena, but given Iksar has said they don't really understand how that stuff was managed before the guy doing it left, I somewhat doubt it. Besides, 8+ mana cards still leave time for the conversations to occur, so they don't really mess with the Brawl's premise.
I'd really like to know if Dean would answer this question in one of his Q&As: Please can you explain how the QA process works for patches and how many QA guys in each team/mode?
My assumption is they only test the "new stuff" added to the game, for eg: the buddies, Dek'thar/Vanndar in duels etc. I'm sure there's also some miscellaneous stuff they test as well.
This testing approach isn't sustainable though and I'd really love to know if automated regression testing is possible in the HS client. Not too clued up on Unity but I'm sure test automation is possible in their framework (as it's becoming the norm for many tech stacks). Regression testing goes a long way to check every single feature in the client, every patch and would help reduce these bugs before players encounter them. Most of these bugs are functional as they appear across all platforms, which means testing on desktop should be enough to find them. Ofc, a sanity test on devices should be done too.
I know this from experience where my software company treats live bugs as major issues. To me, sounds like Blizzard isn't really bothered about them.
Just to clear up the air. What I meant was that OoC might consider making a sticky thread or article somewhere listing down all the bugs encountered and resolutions in the hearthstone game. So if someone needs to refer to a list, they can come here.
Im glad to say Ive not encountered a single bug in my near 2 years use of this website.
Obviously, Im not alluding that OoC is doing any sort of a bad job at all.
I supposed that's true, but they could have at very least remove all the hero cards. Or apply the same logic in arena to this brawl, so swing cards are less of a problem.
I havent seen a Ysera or Sneed so far, but doubtless if I had I would very likely win that game, regardless of the hero power my opponent chose.
I guess they made the decks random so the best choice of hero power changes, thereby encouraging players to switch it up and encounter all the different conversations. Random decks always have some volatility, but given the central purpose of the Brawl that is probably out-weighed by the removal of an optimal choice.
Duels have become just more insane. I went with Elemental Shaman 9-0 with Shadowcasting 101 and double battlecries until I hit 3 loses in a row versus even more insane new treasure combos.
There are many more disturbing passive combos, e.g. new mage Frost passives (double damage to frozen enemies + water elemental after frost spells once per turn).
To be honest, why even bother having an ultra pool 2 when its clear that certain passives just end the games then and there.
But talking about shadowcasting 101, this is literally having the same impact as robes of gaudiness and to a lesser extend, meek mastery. It should ideally have died the same death as robes, simply because its just too good. The only way shadowcasting cannot just win the game is that the deck is not build for it i.e. a deck with no minions, etc. Anything with a damaging battlecry puts your opponent on a clock with nearly no counters.
Even if its only met 1% of the time, losing to something like this leaves just a bad taste in the mouth. Or at very least nerf it so the extra minion disappears from the hand at the end of the turn.
I guess you can count Scouts too, but that's mostly a Demacia deck with like 6-9 Bilgewater cards.
It depends on the version. I've been playing a version that doesn't include Bannerman, and goes instead for more Bilgewater cards, like Marai Warden, Island Navigator, and Jagged Butcher.
Edit - Here's yet another Meta Report. I like the way this one gives a bunch of little snapshots of different aspects of the meta, with pretty good visualizations.
When they do randomized brawls, it should be limited to random class cards in my opinion. I managed to get a Wyrmrest Purifier on 2 one game and it made the brawl way more fun.
At this point maybe Outofcards should consider keeping a log of all known hearthstone bugs, fixes, etc. as a permanent feature for the website. Might drum up plenty of activity and views. After all, bugs are seemingly a regular thing in hearthstone nowadays whenever I see no highlights or actions from my opponent I instinctively think that the game might have silently crashed.
I do appreciate the work team5 puts out, but this falls really well off the standards we kinda expect from blizzard entertainment. Maybe its because they know they can patch it anytime they simply dont bother with QA anymore.
Thanks for commenting! This article in particular took some time and it’s good to know people are benefiting from it. Void Ripper sounds fun, I’d take out Nature Studies as that feels like the least important card in the deck.
Thanks for the article and the deck. I always enjoyed Hadronox Druid, and this definitely brings back memories.
I used to play with a void ripper, so that unexpectedly at some point I could use all those big health taunt minions to kill the opponent. Might copy this decks and change a card to add it and have some fun.
Also "worst cards" usually means just something unfitting the situation.
In my eyes the worst possible cards are the ones that you can't play/won't have an effect, like Bestial Wrath, Deadly Poison, Totemic Might, Sacrificial Pact, Sense Demons and Shield Slam. There's more, but these seem like the ones the game could most easily recognize as useless. (I'm so sorry, but at this point I just had to look into it) Noticably, these are all spells. You could limit the effect to minions, although you'd likely just get plain stats, which makes for a boring Brawl.
I guess in the end it's really just open to interpretation.
Let me know which version you prefer.
I prefer the the Rogue version, mainly because I'm a very practical person and put playability and balance before flavor (it's not like we draw our own art anyway, we just have to hope we find something fitting). I do understand why you'd want to keep the art and it won't make enough of a difference to change my vote.
Already Sick of Shadowcasting 101? Hearthstone Duels Moves the Passive to Ultra Rare Pool 2 Treasures
I am so glad I wasn't able to play Duels since the patch went live lol
Looks like I was spared some rather salty scenarios

not exactly sure what you're alluding to, but I've been very happy with the OoC team so far
(yeah, there's been more than enough instances when I wanted to strangle Blizz and their non-communication)
(yeah, there's been more than one or other "nerfs" that totally swooooshed past the mark, cause +1 mana is easier)
etc etc ... but yeah, I feel Flux & Mods are doing a great job.

It's crazy that they only clarified Grom's task 12 rather than also making it not absurdly painful to complete.
Tavish vs. Rokara
Such a weird brawl. I think I was supposed to be getting some story, but on turn 6 my opponent conceded, I guess, during the RP causing it to cut off.

One Card To Rule The Brawl - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread
New version. Absolutely not sure about the text. Also what is better Discover or random? Rogue or neutral?
Did anyone else not get dust?
I think the big issue is that the people in charge and the developers are more often than not two different people.
And the people in charge tend not to care about giving devs extra time to fix bugs when setting deadlines :T
