  • Did anyone else not get dust?

Only seven years in IT under my belt, so I hope you accept me in your club :) Joke aside. Bugs happen at the best companies and to the most dedicated developers, so the occurence of bugs is nothing noteworthy per se. However if bugs continue to pile up and getting more embarassing that very well can be an indication of underlying problems. Blizzard has a lot of problems right now, apart from the big scandal I think they have been suffering from bad management and internal cost cuts for quite some time. And yes this shows in quality. But hey, I think they will get the grip again. All the best.

Back to the original topic: Just wait a bit, they will figure it out in a couple of days as always (or mostly).

  • Did anyone else not get dust?

My earlier comment mentioning monkeys is probably a bit harsh, but it was out of frustration since bugs have been piling on the past few months which in my honest opinion did not get fixed soon enough.

By the way, I also have 2 decades of IT developer experience so if that matters at all we should hold equal weight of opinions on this situation. I know we all make mistakes, we are only human after all. However, some of the recent bugs are really easy to spot like those XP achievements issues not counting correctly. Another one was the collection filter not resetting properly on mobile devices. Those bugs should really not have seen the light of day by us.

As for the "big" dust drama, you know you can run those reimburse scripts on a backup database and try to find irregularities before the actual release, right? Just be sure to spend a proper amount of time on testing before giving the script the green light. There is no need to rush things. If you do rush though and screw up, do not be surprised to receive some flack for it in return.

For me, the bigger the IT company, the more resources they (should) have and I expect better or at least a very high standard of quality from their software. That quality is going downhill as we can see by the growing bugs list at the bottom of their patch release notes.

Do not get me wrong, I still love Hearthstone and I have always liked playing Blizzard games like Diablo and Starcraft in the past. It is exactly because I am so invested in their games, that these kind of silly bugs annoy me to this degree. I probably care too much about Hearthstone, more than I should anyways, which is unhealthy.

Congrats to linkblade91 and Wailor! Looks like you folks didn't like my Tears of Salt very much :D

On a serious note, that finalists vote was ridiculous. Again. I'm still of the opinion that making the vote more complicated (= make voters rate categories) might help to avoid people spamming 1 or 2 star ratings.

  • Is there any way to lower my MMR effectively?

Not sure if you play standard or wild, but consider the other mode if you don't play both. Chances are you will have a low MMR on the mode you don't main. Play that mode, when you face a meta deck, just  concede. Repeat until you find a match you enjoy.

Technically the no minion Spell Hunter archetype was introduced a year prior in Kobolds & Catacombs with Rhok'delar, To My Side!, Lesser Emerald Spellstone, and Flanking Strike being key cards to support the archetype.  But then Rastakhan's Rumble added Zul'jin and Baited Arrow.  Baited gave the deck a little removal that could also provide a tempo swing with the Overkill effect.  It also providing an extra bit of reach since it can go face.  And Zul'jin was great after playing a fully ramped Spellstone and several secrets that he would then replay, he could also replay removal like Crushing Walls.  And the deck still ran Deathstalker Rexxar to generate infinite value with the Zombeasts.  In short, I think it was always kind of missing that final piece until the RR additions.

I am still not seeing any progress on the Priest, Rogue, or Paladin quests being debugged.  I'm not seeing that anyone else has continued to have issues.  Is anyone else or is there something I am messing up?

Patch isn't out yet, so that's pretty much expected.

Its tomorrow, I think. On 25th Jan

It's interesting seeing the most "polarized" metas and the most balanced metas, and how that doesn't necessarily track to the most enjoyable metas.

Like this one is the 3rd-highest meta share of all time with rogue (behind KoTFT Druid and Decent of Dragons Rogue), but I personally find that it's more enjoyable than Barrens, which was much more balanced by class.  I guess I always intuitively thought more balanced = more fun.  Neat data.

    Quote From NebuchadnezzarHS

I am really baffled about the fact that a big software company like Activision Blizzard is able to let such an embarrassing issue slip through their testing. Does their entire QA team consist of monkeys?

For now, I have not personally encountered this dust issue yet (knock on wood). I guess I have to be glad that they did not start this reimburse mess over here in the EU region or even worse all regions at once.

Look I'm not trying to defend Blizzard specifically but this whole mentality of "bLiZz BaD. Qa TeAm Is FuLl oFf MoNkEyS!1!" is kinda horseshit.

Software companies around the world have bugs and glitches and issues like these.  The difference is, most software is actually work related and while there are definitely Karens and Kens out there who will gladly bitch about anything, they generally don't assume that the people working on the software are dumb.

I know because I've spent the last 2 decades working at software companies. (I'm not a developer myself but I work in IT and frequently communicate and work with devs)

It's easy for things to "work in a test environment" but then fail in real life.  Often it's environmental issues they weren't expecting, or the issues of logistics from a scale much larger than a test environment that are the issue.

I'm not saying the "dustgate" situation is ideal or even valid, it's certainly embarrassing. No company wants to have to make statements like they did and make a public to-do of "sorry, we kinda fucked up."   But the reality is that mistakes happen, people overlook things.  Companies aren't perfect, and the people working at those companies are not perfect either.  I empathize with developers and people who work at software companies because they got a LOT of flack, way more than the deserve...especially from the mercurial, entitled, and vitriolic userbase that is gamers.

I reached level 222. The next big patch with all those bugfixes is almost upon us, I have really high expectations for it.

@Alleria, no problem. When I posted my earlier message over there, I wondered if it would be too off-topic. I use the same dust strategy as you do by the way.

Shadows was helpful enough to note that Nethrandamus also has this Upgrade feature, but caps out at 10; I imagine the Oasis Portal would do the same.

A bit funnier than my usual cards, but it just works out so perfectly here, wouldn't you agree?

  • Hearthstone's Dean Ayala Shares Meta Snapshots For Every Expansion Since Whispers of the Old Gods

I never said the classes didn't have ups and downs.  I said hunter always seems to carve out a solid tier 2 deck every expansion.  (which I noticed you conveniently left out of your quoted text) Which bothers me because I get tired of hunter being the "go-to" class for people looking to rank up with an easy and cheap deck.  I think that's a fundamental problem with either the class design or a larger issue with the game design as a whole if with every expansion the go-to ranking deck is "smorc hunter".

  • Hearthstone's Dean Ayala Shares Meta Snapshots For Every Expansion Since Whispers of the Old Gods

    Quote From Sykomyke

At least I finally have stats to prove my theory:  Hunter generally never carves a huge slice out of the meta barring a few exceptions, and generally never dies barring a few exceptions.

That's a pretty vague claim, and if you look again, I think you'll find it holds true for most classes. They all have ups and downs, and I think Team 5 very intentionally tries to keep any class from being unplayable or oppressive too often.

Competition Theme: One Card To Rule The Brawl

You've only got one card to win this Tavern Brawl, so you'd better make sure it counts!

    • You must create a card that could be used in a "All 30 cards in your deck are this card" Tavern Brawl

Sometimes keeping it simple is better - and Jhamel wants you to keep the deck as simple as possible this week!

As always, I can be reached through Discord or here on the site via PM if you have any issues to report.

I´ve hit lvl 100 few days ago and chose Arcanist Jaina as my 5th RT portrait (the 4th was the one from Battlefield Master achievement for 7200 Honor). Now I´m at lvl 110 and still have todays three weeklies and one daily quests up. My XP achievement count is at 75% done, and I´m taking a break from doing them until the new ones from the miniset arrive (still no luck with the Snowball Fight! one, I´m stuck forever at 8/10).

@Alleria, you probably also "hate" the fact that your gold stash ends with "5", I reckon? 😁

And yeah, it really buggs me that I had 4005 gold for some time now, but I also know I´m "lucky" enough that I won´t get the 5 from the paid game modes, only in the case when I´m back to zero :D Right now I´m waiting for the next "free" Arena ticket to try my luck again. Good thing is I don´t care slightlest for my dust count, I never dust cards unless there is some nerf going on and almost never craft any, until there is one I really love/want, and won´t open it from packs.

P.S. sorry for replying you in this thread instead, but I don´t want to convert Golden Hero Portrait - Completionist & Grind thread to my own chatting place, while ignoring the original topic :D

As far as the expansions go, I'd really really like to see them do a membership.  Something like, pay "X" that would be a discounted rate for the expansions and mini-sets for a whole year.  For those that don't mind tossing money at the game instead of keeping it FTP, seems like an easy yes.  But that's me.  This is really the only game I play these days so I don't mind tossing some cash at it to stay current
