  • Fractured in Alterac Valley Mini-set Predictions - What Could Hearthstone's Next Cards Bring?

I can see Shaman going a "Master of the Elements" route and receive encouragement to play with Fire, Frost, and Nature.

  • Fractured in Alterac Valley Mini-set Predictions - What Could Hearthstone's Next Cards Bring?

The Story is mostly explained through the book of Mercenaries, some of the cards (the questlines are a great example) and also very lightly through the Mercenaries mode Story tasks. Though the devs seem to have put a major focus on each mercs individual backstory instead of the overarching plot which, again, is nothing but a long build up so far.

  • Fractured in Alterac Valley Mini-set Predictions - What Could Hearthstone's Next Cards Bring?

Is there a place where I could follow up on the story? I re read several times about this that you mentioned, but other than the trailers doe the expansion I haven't seen anything related to the story for the entire year, so the question.

    Thanks in advance

A funny juxtaposition of Zephrys, but I don't really like it too much unfortunately. Mostly from a technical standpoint, but I also think it's weird for a Zephrys effect (or in this case, the opposite of said effect) to be on a Common card.

I definitely prefer the Neutral version (and the art is better as well). It can definitely be a 1/1 since other minions with their own Tavern Brawl have also been 1/1s (Webspinner, Jeweled Macaw, and also Shifter Zerus even though you're not intended to play it in base form). As a 2 mana 2/2, it does also overlap with [Hearthstone Card (Wandmaker.) Not Found]

    R
A neat little Pogo-Hopper-esque effect that works. This version in particular also works better with bouncing as it distributes the stats among a 1/1 and a big body as opposed to just a big body.

okay thanks flux! do you know when will be the next patch?

Based on the in game calendar the next expansion will drop in February 16, if you are talking about a balance patch, Riot didn't announce any new one yet.

  • Next expansion leaked? (Evil from Pandaria)

Ah, that makes sense. So it might be like they did with the mech skins — 2 different bundles, each with about half the heroes, and one or two free or standalone.

  • Fractured in Alterac Valley Mini-set Predictions - What Could Hearthstone's Next Cards Bring?

I really hope that the mini-set will finally bring a great payoff to this years story. So far the Story felt like a single big build up, unlike the Dragon Story which had multiple payoffs (assembling Villains -> founding evil | stealing Dalaran -> unleashing plaque lords | Escaping with the Plaque of Undead -> ressurecting Galakrond). Meanwhile this years story so far can basically be summarized with Kazakus/Prestor collecting Naaru shards to hopefully do something interesting with them.

  • Next expansion leaked? (Evil from Pandaria)

Could that be the next expansion?

Nah, the description would mention that it's part of a pre-order bundle if that was the case. Instead it seems like this years lunar new year festival will also be pandaren themed. The Shaman and Mage skin also mention that they are both part of a "Crane and Snake" bundle, meanwhile the Guldan one seems like it's going to be free.

There has been many Pandaria references recently, enough that I'd love to find some time to right an article about it all because it is absolutely fascinating. The upcoming Battlegrounds board, Jade Gardens, that was shared in a survey is an even bigger "we going to Pandaria" that I had initially thought before this past patch.

The only thing that I can see maybe not being us going to Pandaria is us looking too deeply into the Lunar New Year goodies. Pandaria shares so many themes with East Asian culture (I think there's a better word to describe the region, I can't think of it at the moment) so it only makes sense to use that part of Warcraft as a focus. All the new hero skins though from the last patch are super Panda themed, bringing in the August Celestials.

I'm super excited to see where it goes. If not this year, almost certainly next. As Dean even said in his Q&As, Pandaria is a "when" not "if". The only reason why I don't think it'll be this year is because they've been talking about how it's not time for a new class (source), and I can't see them doing a Pandaria-central expansion without debuting Monk. We could of course do something smaller in Pandaria; perhaps we could go chill with the Klaxxi for a bit or go jump into the Throne of Thunder (good chance to bring back the Lei Shen hero skin too).

That Q&A I sourced above about new new classes mentions for at least 2 years. Well, the Q&A was a year ago so if we get through this year, that gives us next year as the earliest available time slot.

Someone on Twitter spotted this -- the collection manager now shows a "Sha Illidan" hero, which apparently you get by buying the "Evil from Pandaria" bundle. Could that be the next expansion?

I believe the next patch will be the new expansion that drops in February. Afterward, we'll be getting a 2022 roadmap too which is exciting!

  • New Year, New Nozdormu Day - Speedy Tidings and Decks for the Beginning of 2022

Hmm, somehow I haven't seen these notifications until I checked back and went over the comments manually. Sorry about that!

And yes, absolutely, you both make very fair points. I know we've skipped a few shop offerings in recent memory, and haven't been as consistent with it as in the past. We'll be looking to get back on track with this kind of coverage going forward.

  • Hearthstone Patch 22.2: All Known Issues and Fixes - Missing Portraits, Broken Duels Runs, Faulty Mercenaries Training, Battlegrounds, & More

We players are their QA department apparently. I am still waiting for my first "paycheck" (gift cards also accepted).

  • Hearthstone Patch 22.2: All Known Issues and Fixes - Missing Portraits, Broken Duels Runs, Faulty Mercenaries Training, Battlegrounds, & More

Daniel Duffin (whom we've referred to in articles several times by now) mentioned this a while ago in one of his tweets:

"But QA is not a lot of people, we all work on everything and a lot of QA are contractors. We are important but not where the corporate money goes, in general. I won't ramble more on that, tldr we need a union."

And recently we heard from another QA person whose contract might not be getting renewed. So yeah, likely all of those things you mention.

  • Already Sick of Shadowcasting 101? Hearthstone Duels Moves the Passive to Ultra Rare Pool 2 Treasures

Very welcome hotfix. Have not had that much playtime after the patch but matches against 101 felt kind of brutal

  • Hearthstone Patch 22.2: All Known Issues and Fixes - Missing Portraits, Broken Duels Runs, Faulty Mercenaries Training, Battlegrounds, & More

It does seem like Activision (and many gaming companies in general) just treat QA and bug testing as an afterthought. It's better for them to release sooner and with bugs abound than painstakingly comb through everything; players are usually lenient enough. If you are familiar with the whole ongoing drama with Raven people at the forefront, that's just one example.
I'm not sure if there are even many permanent QA people embedded within these teams nowadays, as from what we've heard it's been largely contract workers.

  • Already Sick of Shadowcasting 101? Hearthstone Duels Moves the Passive to Ultra Rare Pool 2 Treasures

    Quote From dapperdog

To be honest, why even bother having an ultra pool 2 when its clear that certain passives just end the games then and there.

But talking about shadowcasting 101, this is literally having the same impact as robes of gaudiness and to a lesser extend, meek mastery. It should ideally have died the same death as robes, simply because its just too good. The only way shadowcasting cannot just win the game is that the deck is not build for it i.e. a deck with no minions, etc. Anything with a damaging battlecry puts your opponent on a clock with nearly no counters.

Even if its only met 1% of the time, losing to something like this leaves just a bad taste in the mouth. Or at very least nerf it so the extra minion disappears from the hand at the end of the turn.

They very well may still rework the passive (they've reworked treasures in the past so it's not unheard of) to be something like "create a 1/1 copy in your hand that is removed at end of turn" or something like that.

But yea I knew from day 1 (as did many others) that this treasure was busted...

  • Hearthstone Patch 22.2: All Known Issues and Fixes - Missing Portraits, Broken Duels Runs, Faulty Mercenaries Training, Battlegrounds, & More

    Quote From Brandon

There may be lots of bugs, but hey. At least they FINALLY fixed the Edwin Vancleef portrait! It finally shows edwin when selecting a deck instead of a "default" Jaina! It only took them like a month or something close to that to fix that bug!

That being said, it's honestly quite baffling that every major patch has more and more bugs. The amount of bugs keep growing with each patch. I'm honestly wondering if the team that's responsible for bugtesting is either understaffed or overworked. (Which would honestly be quite unfortunate, and considering all the bad publicity that blizzard i.m.o. definately deserved, it would be hard to get new hires).... or maybe the "They don't bugtest lmao" joke is real, but that's something i REALLY hope is NOT the case. Either way i really hope that the bugs get fixed as soon as possible, and i hope the next major patch isn't going to be even buggier.

Could aslo be from old legacy code, and the people that orginaly wrote thet Code dont work at the company anymore.

Hearthstone was orginaly made only by a few people as a sort of passion/proof of concept projec and wasnt expected to becoem this big at all and has been quite the turnover aswell at blizzard with devs(not just Hearthstone)
