  • Annoyed With Noninteractive Decks? Hearthstone Will See Card Buffs and More Balance Changes in a Future Update

The significant part of my argument is that mutanus is already performing that feat, and since voljin is 2 mana less one would think that it'll be the preferred disruption option compared to that 7 mana murloc. But in reality, we see mutanus being in many decks and yet voljin is not.

And that's largely because voljin requires a minion on board to work and that's precisely what most OTK decks would play around, especially if voljin is meta. So moving its mana cost wouldn't really accomplish much in terms of disruption; its being beaten in terms of viability by a card that's 2 cost bigger as I write this.

Nerfs and buffs are applied with a goal in mind. In my opinion, buffing voljin to 4 or 3 even would neither slow the meta down, nor will it make control decks viable. Even big decks wouldn't play voljin because of the interaction with vanndar, and the fact that most big decks don't play small minions so there's no target for it to work.

  • Annoyed With Noninteractive Decks? Hearthstone Will See Card Buffs and More Balance Changes in a Future Update

With the nerf […] if we undershoot, well at least it's better than before. If we overshoot, that deck just stops seeing play entirely.

With buffs […], if we undershoot, it was a waste, nothing happens. If we overshoot, we created a new problem deck.

Am I the only one that sees the same problem in both cases?

    Nerfs + overshoot = useless = buffs + undershoot.

    Nerfs + undershoot = problem = buffs + overshoot.

Wtf? It's like they don't like buffs because they can't powercreep in the future, yet they say it's hard not to powercreep. Well, i guess it's not that hard if you start buffing cards...

Again, i'm getting sick of these people and their "design" decisions.

ALL CATHEDRALS ARE CLOSED, NEW CATHEDRAL OPENS!

"...And we're back online! Mailchinp was very kind and patient with us, they explained what we did wrong, which was that we did nothing wrong but it was rather something that their bot did. The bot is checking their sites for breaches reporting back to mailchimp its findings. Mailchimp then checks to see if there is a credible breach  on the bot's reports. Until they check, the site that is under investigation goes off line! I need to say that the people at mailchimp treated us professionally and with dignity through out our communication and the resolving of our issue! Thank you mailchimp for providing us a place to thrive and for being the professionals that you are.

So, lets get back to our final class! The Cathedrals are all full? Wait a minute! There seem to be two more slots left to be filled completely!

Sure, you are playing aggro. Problem is that too good and fast  combo pushes out interesting interactive but slower decks

  • Annoyed With Noninteractive Decks? Hearthstone Will See Card Buffs and More Balance Changes in a Future Update

My point is essentially this. In a meta plagued with OTK decks and a drought of Control decks, what's the harm in making a disruption tool a little bit more viable? In Wild, Control decks can thrive because players have access to all the disruption cards Hearthstone has to offer.

If the goal is to slow the meta down to allow the slower Hero Cards to shine in their expansion, then doesn't it make sense to buff disruption cards like Vol'jin?

What OTK is assembled before turn 5 that its necessary to make voljin available a turn earlier?

Also, I don't understand this. The OTK doesn't need to be assembled by turn 5 before you are allowed to disrupt it. Otherwise, cards like dirty rat, parrley, Savory Deviate Delight, Demonic Project, etc.. wouldn't exist.

  • Rewards Track Progress: 4.0

First of all, thanks Tetsuo for taking the torch from me, I´m excited to be part of the new RT journey and read all the progress we´ll all make and share.

I´ve bought the TP day one again, and hoarded all the three Weeklies and Daylies for the start of the new track, so on the first day it shooted me right to lvl 27. My free lvl 20 legendary was Balinda Stonehearth. Yesterday I´ve hit lvl 50 and opened Kurtrus, Demon-Render. Not sure, how viable he is, but I´m always glad to get a hero card. For the XP achievements, I´m at 33% done and counting, cause doing achievements is my main goal in game right now and I´m having a blast doing it.

So good luck climbing and have fun guys! :)

I must be missing something about Garrote Rogue. I've never lost to that deck and even after looking at the decklist I have no idea how this could beat anything.

I done the Wing Commander Ichman becouse Resizing Pouch looking for limited 9 mana pool is good , in a deck with poison beasts and some simple beasts , but before doing the combo i keep Serpentbloom in hand .

Hey, good catch, Cece! I wouldn´t think about getting Wing Commander Ichman that way. Cool, thanks for the tip!

I´m trying to find out if I can discover Saidan the Scarlet somehow now.

Edit: Kudos for mentioning this too, even I don´t own Lord Barov, I managed to discover him as Diablo and did the achievement on the first try :)

If the story was about Arrana finding herself, I can think of plenty of other things, other than going into outland and being a dhunter. I mean, the very reason why she's in outland to begin with is suspect, and the fact that illidan took her in despite her having little to no motivation to defeat the legion is also another plothole. There is a reason why most dhunters are angsty and always on about the legion - most of them have tragic backgrounds relating to demons. Arrana might as well have slipped on a banana skin dropped by a littering imp. That forms a better motivation than what we're stuck with.

Also, Im no lore specialist, but Im pretty sure fighting one another until you dropped your eyes and sprout horns isn't how one becomes a demon hunter.

As for mercs, well beats me. Far as I know the entire story is about helping kazakus and prestor with the naaru shards. As to why we have to go through so many bounties to do that? Not a freaking clue. Does it even have a story? I mean, we're basically beating up boss after boss, but with no dialogue anywhere to go through. Feels a lot like the early megaman games where bosses are beaten because the final boss wouldn't show up otherwise.

IIRC Aranna wasn't in Outland to become a DH; she just wanted to get as far away from her sister as possible and finding the Illidari was somewhat accidental. So I guess they were going for not knowing where you'll end up in life, but eventually you'll find your calling?

Lore-wise, the most important (and dangerous) part of becoming a DH is absorbing a demon's soul and controlling it. That has a pretty high mortality rate, and Aranna's story brushed it all under the rug. I suppose they were trying to make it a more friendly, and whimsical telling to fit HS's usual setting, hence all the rhyming. Interestingly, the best place I know to see how tough that process should be doesn't come from a DH at all, but from Valeera who got lumped with a powerful dreadlord's soul as a teenager. She wasn't trying to control it like DHs do, just suppress it, but I assume the tough part is largely the same: keeping control of yourself. The comics go to great lengths to show how much she had to do to handle it, and if Aranna's story was striking a less whimsical tone I'd expect her to have to do the same at bare minimum. On the bright side, Valeera's success came largely through the aid of friends, especially Broll and Aegwynn, which is something I expect to be largely absent in the brutal canonical Illidari training. So maybe Aranna's friends really did make it easier for each other?

Re Mercs: I think a lot of the bounties were just Valeera running a mercenary company and helping the world out. At least that accounts for a lot of the stuff in the Barrens, Felwood and Winterspring. Once you get to Blackrock it feels like you'd probably want to do it all in one go a la the BRM adventure. That's just somewhere where game mechanics and the (limited) story-telling are in conflict with each other.

While I'm here having brought Valeera up twice, I was surprised she was treated as a Horde character in Mercs. Since I was expecting her to be faction-neutral (because she very explicitly IS), it only helps her as she gets some buffs in bounties she otherwise wouldn't, but it did strike me as a questionable choice flavour-wise. Her neutrality is the whole reason she is able to get on with people from both factions in WoW, and by extension why it made sense she would be running the show in Mercs. Oh well.

  • Not sure if this is the right place, but can you recommend me a standard deck?

All four of these are more than capable of winning upwards to legend. Owlock isn't really much of a problem if you tech and mulligan for Rustrot Viper, and maintain tempo.

If you're looking for decklist that will produce results, just use hsreplay. If you're looking for a deck that plays plenty of AV cards, shaman would be it.

  • Hearthstone World Championship 2021 Survival Guide - The Best in the World Compete for $500,000 This Weekend!

Not a big fan of the decks they're bringing, but still very hype. So many amazing players, all of which would deserve the world title. Rooting for Nalguidan myself, shame there's no Choose your Champion this time.

  • Not sure if this is the right place, but can you recommend me a standard deck?

    Not:

    • otk quest mage
    • otk hoot-lock
    • otk demon hunter
    • "i break the fundamental mechanics of hearthstone" quest warlock
    • garrote rogue
    • quest pirate warrior
    • raza anduin hunter

Are minion based decks dead these days or what?  Is my choice to play unranked or play libram paladin?  I've been trying to enjoy thief rogue but I'm winning approximately 10% of my games because its nothing but combo and aggro.

edit: crap i forgot that standard casual doesn't exist anymore.

edit: if this is not the right forum, can you please let me know where I should post requests for decks?

Swizard has been a very active member in the community, posting many of the Wild decks on here and even creating site content such as the “Wildest Wednesdays” articles going into depth on a single Wild deck.

In this case, an announcement like this is not only okay but almost necessary!  I personally will miss his presence here.

  • Annoyed With Noninteractive Decks? Hearthstone Will See Card Buffs and More Balance Changes in a Future Update

What OTK is assembled before turn 5 that its necessary to make voljin available a turn earlier? Mutanus is actually doing wonders now, and at 7 mana its acceptable without being too tilting to go up against.

Most big decks would want to play vanndar instead, so that buff to 4 wouldn't make voljin playable in those decks.

  • Annoyed With Noninteractive Decks? Hearthstone Will See Card Buffs and More Balance Changes in a Future Update

To be pedantic, since 1 is the smallest number before 0 which is nonexistent, I used the word 'small'.

Obviously a 1 mana nerf is impactful, Im not trying to downplay that at all.

  • Playing with Kennen

I can't say if the deck is good.

I however can say with absolute certainty say that Tail-Cloak Matriarch doesn't belong into this deck.

Like how many recall effects do you play? 6? And 3 of those are reactice recalls.

Like this card is hardly worth in dedicated recall decks but in this list? I feel it downgrades the deck for no good reason and should be replaced with Go Get It if you want to keep the spirit of the card or a Deny if you want to go more into a competetive direction

Also there is in general too little interaction in this deck and neighter Fae Bladetwirler not Mask Mother have enough support to be worth it.

The theme that seems to be worth trying is Mistwraith Kennen Encroaching Mist featuring summon effects like Camavoran Soldier

Some issue I also see with Scribe of Sorrows is that he will hit encroaching mist a lot which isn't the greatest hit

Oh and as the final question i would like to know how helpful Kennen actually is in this list.

Stun effects hardly support the deck's theme, also does Kennen still level quite slow because you can't tutor him and the fact that encroaching mists are meant to be summoned in small counts until lategame where leveling Kennen is not worth it anymore (at least in this build)

I feel like Kennen is not worth for the list and that Ahri would be more useful for recalling/recycling you summoning units

    Take care my friend.

I'm struggling too, and to be honest I'm only doing the bare minimum for quest completion and even rerolling win 5 ladder quest.

I win 5 ladder games for the card back and even have to encourage myself to do that right now ....... 5 games in 1 month.

Will see how things go, and take a break/quit myself if I think it's the right thing for me too.

    Quote From AngryShuckie

    - TbFF has, in my opinion, poor characters, poor development and is tainted by an incredibly shitty ending. Rikkar, from rumble run, is a blank character of unknown origin (the very definition of a nobody) but it works because the story is about him rising to the top. Arrana on the other hand is the sister of a known character, with a defined character and arc (Far as I know, she starts wanting to escape from her sister's shadow) but by the end we're left scratching out heads as to what has actually been accomplished here. It doesn't help that the story keeps piling on the bs that she becomes completely unrelatable. She's basically Rey from starwars; a character which experiences hardship only in theory but not in action. Its like a 10 yr old's self-insert fanfiction ideal which is sympathetic to its creator but not to anyone else.

Oh and the shitty ending? Illidan being beaten both in power and angst. By someone who literally became a demon hunter yesterday.

Wasn't her story primarily about finding solid friends in her own way and as far away from her sister's influence as possible, and hence finding herself in the process? Beating Illidan through the power of friendship (yuck :P) obviously shouldn't happen, but as much as I hate the trope, at least it was different from the usual DH story (i.e. every DH except Aranna) of "the Legion did me wrong and I have the emotional range of an angry potato so I guess I'll join Illidan". Man I wish DH had an once of diversity; it's frustratingly narrow in every respect.

    --------------------------

Otherwise, I broadly agree with the order OP used, though I would include most of the Dungeon Run-esque modes, even if you're only going to state there's not much story there for some of them. I would also personally promote Blackrock a bit though since I very much enjoyed the process of Nefarian and his dragon homies beginning to realise we weren't just there for Ragnaros.

That reminds me, what on earth happened in the Mercenaries (game mode) story? In particular, why did Lady Prestor hire us to take out her brother? I understand why Valeera would want him removed, but Onyxia? Hmm. Maybe it was all just an alternative perspective on the exact same events as the Blackrock adventure? It would certainly explain why Nefarian was surprised when we started taking out dragons...

If the story was about Arrana finding herself, I can think of plenty of other things, other than going into outland and being a dhunter. I mean, the very reason why she's in outland to begin with is suspect, and the fact that illidan took her in despite her having little to no motivation to defeat the legion is also another plothole.
