  • The Scariest Mobalytics Decks

So we talk a lot about meta, and card balance, and what Champs are strongest.

But sometimes it's worth drawing back the curtain on matchups we personally struggle with  and anything excluded is relatively easy to deal with or tech against, or play against.

    1. Dragons - it challenges and strikes with demacia, it grows large midrange threats, and ramps into Asol...this deck scares me because it essentially perfect at being equally good into everything and the best decks often are.

    2. Infinite cycle Heimer - kill one thing and they play another, and another and another and another...this deck is control proof and midrange proof so it's everything I hate.

    3. Deep & Lurk - something about these decks just very menacing, one is an excellent tournament deck that is just waiting for its time, and the other will just steam roll you if you arent playing perfectly

    4.  Ahiri - out of all the new Ionia cards Ahiri is the trickiest to deal with. Amazing stat line for mana with the best keyword, and she basically has elusive too. You enter into a tough situation do you sharpsite the droplet only to eat a twin disciples no you don't so you eat dmg every turn and it's death of a thousand cuts

    5. Rumble - the ultimate do you have the answer card, you can just throw it out. Much like Sivir it's just a pain but unlike her he has a much better level up, but if he does get answered you just loose.

    6. Xerath, I have a lot of respect for players who main this guy because his play pattern when run well is exceptionally erratic and unpredictable. Will you beat him most of the time sure but it will be scary the whole time.

So yeah thats it for my list, once again I don't believe these are the best or most competitive decks just the lists that impact me the most when playing against them.

Things like aggro, and Ezreal you run into so often you can run those matches in your sleep.

  • New to card games.

I have just realized that you didn't mean specifically mean Shadow Isles + Freljord, my bad. Regardless, you can build most of these decks and you'd find that they are all playable within a certain margin. I expect that you can find combos within the regions you intend to play and build a deck around it and fare pretty well with it so you don't have to worry much about what is good and what is bad.

Nevertheless, more decks that are good.

    Lissandra Thralls: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c6pnearsag25bho88hbg

This deck requires a lot of planning ahead but if successful can be a very dominant.

    Nightfall: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c0suo3982pp88vjntlc0

This deck may seem quite simple to play but it is one of the hardest decks to play with and leaves little room to misplay. I don't suggest this one as it requires a high skill cap, but it is faster than most of the decks I had suggested previously.

    Deep: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c1rq9tejlsq50fc7c6tg

This deck is super straightforward. Play cards and get to deep and play giant creatures, then finish with Atrocity. Make sure that there's no way you can get interrupted when you do so though.

    Lucian/Hecarim: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c033i1o71lkrsarbodgg

This deck is easy to play but hard to master. Pretty fun and fast. I highly suggest this if you don't like slow games.

    Go Hard: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c6p84f6h4ke4k4mhek3g

This is a solid deck and has a lot of combos. It's easy to play but you need to understand what the cards do to play it well.

Sorry if this is a bit too long. I tried to make a short summary of what the decks are but it may come off as confusing as well. Most of these decks are also a bit outdated but they should still be fine. Try refining your decks, remove bad cards and include good cards. It doesn't really matter if you're right or wrong as long as you're learning the game.

  • Dean Ayala's Hearthstone Q&A #36 - Battlegrounds Streamer Reveals, Long-Term Plan for Tavern Brawl, Auto-squelch

Of course, Rastakhan's rumble should be an honorable mention in terms of a rework, why haven't he thought about that lol.

Speaking of honorable, I really like Honorable kills mechanic, but it's not enough for the empowered meta nowadays..

  • New to card games.

Freljord + Shadow Isles isn't incredible as of right now. The best deck that I can think of is a Feel The Rush control deck and if you're a new player you probably won't be able to craft it immediately as it does require a fair amount of Epics as well as the Champions themselves. It's a slow deck that seems up your alley if you do prefer decks that require one card to swing the match in your favor.

    Feel The Rush Deck: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c5u6huaq4g5dikdeist0

Other than that, there's also decks such as They Who Endure which has not been very good for a long time (I don't suggest this but it is very easy to play as a new player) and there's Trundle Lissandra which plays similarly to the Feel The Rush deck mentioned above but it's harder to pilot.

    Trundle Lissandra: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c3bnv4rrgua49cd18410

    They Who Endure: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/bvfpdoautoean1mct880

Though if you are a new player, I would suggest not going for these decks yet until you have most of the key cards and instead using these budget decks. (These aren't good decks by any means but they are free.)

    Braum/Lux: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c59qqu63mbgukuvqact0

    Elise/Darius: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c59r7ppba4ffpr2gking

    Yasuo/Leona: https://lor.mobalytics.gg/decks/c59mtqu9bn0kgk7of16g

Also I'm not sure if any has mentioned this to your but the best way to get some cards quickly is by playing the Expeditions for a bit. It does give you a lot of cards. If you don't particularly like that game mode, that's also fine! Each week you can get an Expedition token from your Weekly Vault and you can just trade it in for an expedition run and immediately retire it for a free Epic capsule. There's also the Path of Champions which also gives you champions for free but it might be confusing for newer players.

  • New to card games.

    Hey everyone,

New to the game and this genre of game in general. I've spend most my resources on freljord and shadow isle cards. As far as champs go in the region I like using Elise and Ashe, but they don't seem to synergize well.

My deck is also reliant on high level and mid level cards, but it seems like I'm always expect a big card to get me out of trouble. Assuming that's not the way to go.

Can someone recommend a deck within those regions? I'll just swap out what I don't have. I don't have any poro cards.

    Thanks in advance.

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

I had a pretty great game yesterday. I was playing Aggro Druid against non Quest Warlock (most likely OwlTK). I played Nature Studies into Partner Assignment (which I chose so I could fill the board) and the random 3 drop I got was Mukla. I hoped that the Warlock would draw enough cards so I could mill something and they had 8 when their turn was over. I played Mukla and then this happened.

This was a game winning turn. So satisfying.

An initial idea that supports the idea of mixing and matching spells in Priest, since they utilize both schools quite a lot. It starts out lowering Shadow spells so it can't be buffed too much out the gates. A tad worried the reduction might be too scary, but Radiant Elemental existed and didn't break the game too much.

  • Worth Every Penny - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Shadows has been busy so I haven't gotten a totally-official ruling, meaning I'm gonna go ahead and post this anyway:

Would you say this counts; yay or nay? I think it's a cool card because you can play it straight-up with Wildheart Guff, or "combo" with Pathmaker and/or Pride Seeker. And, of course, you can simply pay the base amount for a slightly-cheaper The Forest's Aid, meaning it's not totally useless if you generate the card outside the ideal use-case.

What is a nerf to Kennen Ezreal is a not that bad/ maybe even a buff for Kennen Yasuo. The fact that I now always get to fetch The Mourned and Kennen allows the deck to chose which engine it wants to go for (The Mourned to level Kennen/Yasuo and buff Fae Bladetwirler or Kennen to get more cc.

Overall I feel like ezreal kennen is slowed down enough for aggressive Yasuo Kennen builds to rush them in time and that's something that I am quite exited about

  • Legends of Runeterra is Getting a Handful of Balance Updates Today Including a Second Poppy Nerf

    Hell yes let's goooooo!

  • Emergency Hotfix

Yordle Trible, Kenin Ezreal, Pirate aggro all got hit pretty hard.

So you pretty much won't need to hard tech into these decks anymore and learn to win these matchups properly.

I think a lot of people will be happy about that, and honestly I am too.

Just because something is possible to beat if you work at it hard enough, doesn't mean every player should be required to exist in such a restrictive build space:

    1. Poppy is a 2/3 or a 3/4 on swing

    2. Ionia allegiance now requires you to run two different 1 drops you can't tutor duplicates

    3. The bounce landmark had its countdown increased

    4. The yordle Tribal 2 drop only buffs attack now

    5. Gangplank is a 5/4

In most cases these decks and archetypes will require rebuilding and I'm happy to show off some options here except for pirate aggro because who cares:

First up splashing yordle mechs might give yordle Tribal a little more sustain. As for discard fodder you have 2 different owl generators, and squire.

Its very possible Kenin drops allegiance all together now that both allegiance and combo speed have been nerfed for a more sustained midrange play style, maybe even Yassao will see play in my dreams.

What about the bugged achievements, are these going to be fixed soon?

  • Worth Every Penny - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Two variations of a new idea (which I like much more than my previous cards):

It's a bit of a foreshadowing of Honorable Kill in the previous expansion, since it encourages you to not waste excess damage.

I'd like to know if you think cost and damage are well ajusted and whether you prefer it to affect your whole hand or a single card. Not sure if the wording is 100% right, either.

    Feedback time:

    Demon
First of all, sorry for publishing a new card right after you gave feedback on my first batch heh

About your cards, I think Nashura the Breeder is your best one. I appreciate her design, similar to Kirin Tor Tricaster, and her strong flavor.

Skull Golem is quite elegant, but I'm afraid it's too clunky. Even with the Taunt, it's works kinda similarly to Forbidden Ancient, which wasn't very good.

Finally, Clock Tower Guard is too similar Mana Wraith, which wasn't a very interesting card from a gameplay perspective.

    Basil
I think it's too complex. I might not be the sharpest tool in the box, but I had to read the text a couple times to know what it does.

    R
I really like the callback to Justicar Trueheart, but the effect is way too strong. I'd either make her effect a Battlecry, make the cost increase permanent or nerf her stats. I'd probably go with the two later approaches at the same time.

    anchor
I really enjoy the crazy concept and the flavor. Maybe some people will find this too crazy, but I like it nonetheless.

    Staff

    Quick feedback.

    Wailor

Mythmaker has some cool flavor, but a problem stems from the fact that making cards cost 10 is bad. I'd imagine this problem would only be exacerbated with 1-Cost minions since they (logically) don't do very much so you now have a 10-Cost card in your hand that doesn't do much of anything impactful. Splintergraft suffered a very similar problem (in addition to it being an 8-Cost card that required board presence and also didn't do anything immediately).

Desperate Shot is a more interesting design although it has a very weird dynamic in that Hunters have typically never been that good at holding a lot of cards in their hand anyway (although this has admittedly been changing over the course of this year).

    BasilAnguis
Aside from the weird phrasing and syntaxing (which I'm not entirely sure how to fix), the card is a bit weird in that it costs more mana when you play more cards and thus spending more mana. True that Rogue decks can play a lot of 0 or 1-Cost cards to offset this, but it's a strange dynamic in which the card weirdly works against itself.

    R

I like the callback to Justicar Trueheart, but the upgrading your Hero Power seems a bit off to me since it just upgrades your Hero Power with no real cost (other than just making it slightly more expensive for 3 uses). It's not like Justicar which required you to play a minion with a bad stat distribution, or either Genn Greymane, Baku the Mooneater, or Sir Finley of the Sands which each have deckbuilding requirements.

The effect of costing more can also somewhat be negated with cards like Tour Guide which might be something worth thinking about.

    Anchorm4n
Cool idea. It seems that you may have run out of space on the card to specify this, but if possible, I'd probably put "(up to 10)" somewhere on the card.

  • Blizzard Confirms There Will be No Hearthstone Balance Changes This Week - World Championship This Weekend

I personally like esports events in a fresh meta. The Viper vs. hunterace final was one of the best tournament games in HS esports and that was because the decklists were completely unrefinded. Nobody added Rafaam into any deck afterwards. And it's skill testing, too. Who's getting the best decklist in an undeveloped meta...

  • Celestalon Shares the Hearthstone Team's Thoughts on Drek'Thar and Vanndar Stormpike as Free Golden Card Rewards

    Quote From Nefiret

There are already a multitude of card backs and hero portraits that were supposed to be exclusive or indicators of prestige or seniority in the game and, however, have been given practically for free to everyone.

False. No one ever said those were exclusive or that they would never again be offered or awarded. If you believed they were, that was an assumption on your part.

  • Blizzard Confirms There Will be No Hearthstone Balance Changes This Week - World Championship This Weekend

Not that I think the need for immediate balance changes is as big now as it has been in the past, but what if it were?

I'm tired of Blizzard scheduling expansion releases so close to official tournaments. It's just poor planning that causes the entire player base to suffer in the name of esports, when only a tiny, tiny sliver of the player base actually cares about esports.

  • New Demon Hunter Hero - Kurtrus, Demon-Render

    Pro

Decided to go for it, and no regrets. Kurtrus is an insanely powerful hero card, and very fun to play. Combined with Felfire Deadeye, might even be OP. It does require some set up, and you will fail against non-minion-based decks. However, you can provide HUGE burst damage pretty easily, even killing priests through the taunt and deathrattles of Lightshower Elemental and Mo'arg Forgefiend. I recommend this hero card!
