I've been following your (?) advice and fighting Your Opponent for rewards. I'm in the 5k realm and am unlikely to hit 6k before the patch.
My unmaxed teams get their butts kicked by actual human opponents who follow the meta and work the synergies. But I'm having fun, so I'm unbothered by that.
Overall, my favorite card of the bunch. I think I prefer the "Do nothing" version, because the "disable" one seems a bit weak for 2 Mana.
Demonxz95
I'd probably go with a 2/2 statline, since that would be way less controversial. If Battlefiend were a 2/2 like it used to be, it would severly outclass this, but it's not the case anymore. I also agree with you about the class identity thing.
BloodMefist
I like it! The effect is original and flavorful. I don't know much about balancing, but I'd say -1/-1 stats for potentially being around forever is pretty fair.
MenacingBagel
The artwork doesn't really fit Hearthstone's style, so I'd go with a different one.
Comparing the two versions, I'd say I prefer the Rush one. Being able to essentially trade a minion's action for a different effect is very cool.
If you decide to go with the Battlecry version, though, I'd probably put it in a class/expansion with lots of handbuffs and reword the text to "Disable your opponent's Hero Power a number of turns equal to this minion's Attack". And probably make it 1 mana.
Basically all of MErc's offers are overpriced atm (outside of the welcome bundle). I have an offer in my shop for a SINGLE Alexstrasza portrait (a random one btw) for 15€.
Um, nope, nice try Blizzard, but my Mercenaries rating reset several hours ago in the middle of a game. Thankfully made it to 6k yesterday...not that the reward chest gave me any meaningful progression on any hero.
I do have to say, I came in with zero hype for Mercenaries and it's not actually too bad. The Slay the Spire comparison they were trying to go for is completely off base cause the PvE content has nothing to offer, but the PvP CAN be decent. It just usually isn't because chances are, you will have sufficient coins for plenty of mercenaries that have no synergies whatsoever. Like, what are you supposed to do if your best equipped heroes are Cariel, Cornelius, Blink Fox, Brukan and Samuro. Cariel is useless, Cornelius is nice support but you need an actual build that he can support, Blink Fox is ok in general I guess, Brukan is useless without Malfurion (legendary) and Samuro requires setup that everyone and their mother is built to counter now. The inflexibility of the mode is a major issue. I have thousands of coins extra on some common heroes while others I've had for the same length of time have their skills at lvls 3, 3, 2 and all equipment at lvl 1. I would love to make a Shadow comp, for instance. Too bad I need like 700 just to get Voljin's skills and equipment to a decent level.
IMO they need to add a system where you can convert coins from heroes to universal coins you can use on anybody. Even if it's at a 2:1 ratio, it would be a massive boost to variety and give people control over what comps they can play.
The Valeera bundle is definitely overpriced. Twenty minutes before the patch went live, I bought the "ten Mercs packs and a random Legendary" for $10, and waited to log on after the patch was active. Since Valeera is the only Legendary I'm missing, I got her. So it's literally double the price for an additional 150 Valeera coins.
then just don't buy and eventually the prices will go down. Of course they're gonna start out high to try and figure out how much the community is willing to fork over. They can always lower it later if it doesn't pan out.
Meanwhile, if they released it too cheap early they have no way of actually increasing the price later without pissing off the entire playerbase.
@Nova, they already do this in Legends of Runeterra. (each players half of the board shows their own cosmetics) and I agree with Suchti, it's really disjointed and looks....wack.
I'd rather it just be a coinflip who's board "is the board" for that battle then have every person's half a board showing.
It would be weird if one person's board is blackrock mountain and the other half is murlocs on a beach, would it not?
I made it to 4k with a rare team. Anacondra, Guff, Bru'kan, Varden, Xyrella, Samuro. It's no the best comp, but you don't need a legendary to get a few rewards.
Yuumi a dual region with Targon? It doesn't make sense from a lore perspective but it does make sense from gameplay one. Yuumi is a support champion and Targon is the second support region after Ionia, plus Loping Telescope do look like it could be a Yuumi follower. Giving both Ionia and Targon track record I expect the new champions to either be Broken BS or meh.
Wow. The mode's so grindy, players had 1 and a half months to gain rating and on the last day of the season, no player in the world has a rating high enough for the 12000 chest. And the reward is for mercenaries they've likely already maxed out, to be able to progress that far. Amazing.

Got to 8k (EU). Have almost all mercs maxed. 12k seems just insane...

I seem to be plagued by Marin the Fox/Heistbaron Togwaggle syndrome, for I always seem to gravitate towards the Fantastic Treasure idea.

Runeterra Reveals 5 New Bandle City Cards For The Upcoming Magic Misadventures Expansion
Recall synergy? About time, it's is one of most underused mechanic in the game.
New Mage Minion - Balinda Stonehearth
Draw two 5 cost spells and leave a 7/7 (at least, but maybe better) body. Very powerful imho
New Mage Spell - Rune of the Archmage
Maybe there will be an achievement to get 2 box of Yogg-Saron with this one
New Mage Spell - Mass Polymorph
Wow, very poweful for board control and messing with opponent revive pool.
If it gets casted by the Iceblood Tower is better
New Neutral Minion - Korrak the Bloodrager
If I kill this with Arcane Overflow, was it honorably killed?

New Mage Spell - Iceblood Tower
Wow very powerful for big spells deck, but I don't know if it is an antisinergy with Dawngrasp hero card.
I guess so, but only time will tell

Nothing of value for me.

These prices are... not a good sign. The direction Hearthstone is taking with these offers is more than mildly disturbing.
I know it's been like that for quite a while but jesus these prices are just an insult.
