  • Blizzard Reveals the Next Hearthstone Expansions Cinematic - Fractured in Alterac Valley

Wait is that Tamsin but as a lich?

  • New Hunter Weapon - Bloodseeker

I get vibes of that Storm hammer from dragon hunter. Except worse because it relies on what ones opponent plays. Still, a controlling Hunter could want this. So no Hunter wants this.

  • New Druid Hero - Wildheart Guff

This seems really crazy, but slow.

  • Vanndar is quite insane

Nice one! I will have to wait till I get my opposite leader to try this but it looks really fun!

  • New Cards Revealed for Fractured in Alterac Valley Including the Legendary Drek'Thar & Vanndar Stormpike

Vanndar Stormpike is more interesting for the decks I like to play, but his deck building restriction is more difficult and the pay-off is delayed: you need to draw the discounted cards first and even though you pay less to summon them, you do need additional mana or an additional turn to actually put them on the board.

Drek'Thar on the other hand gives you stats on board immediately. The current aggro decks do play minions over 3 mana, but in for example Zoo Warlock or Quest Hunter they are replaceable. I can also imagine that a new small minions + burn deck is feasible in for example Shaman, Rogue or Mage.

Maybe Drek'Thar could also be used to tutor out specific minions in a mostly spells deck. I'm thinking of aura buff cards like Sorcerer's Apprentice or deathrattles, but I don't know if there are any in Standard that are relevant. There is always Bloodmage Thalnos of course.

I'm sure both will see play, but I'd be surprised if Drek'Thar doesn't end up in a top meta deck, while I'm less sure Vanndar will stick around. That said, they go into very different decks, so they don't compete for inclusion directly.

  • Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!

just thought that we need an Out Of Cards event, Horde vs Alliance!

  • New Paladin Hero - Lightforged Cariel

Seems very powerful in a vacuum. Let's see what the rest of the set brings before overreacting... Oh, wait. IT'S INSANE! CONTROL IS OP. PALADIN IS DERP A DERP!

  • Expensive Tastes - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    Staff

Big feedback time. With the new Guff hero card, you don't even need to wait for these cards to be discounted anymore (though of course it's obviously still ideal).

    Wailor
I quite like the first version. I don't think it's too strong now, and it in fact actually might be weak. Cards that gain benefit when Traded only need to be Traded once before it becomes "good" whereas this one needs to be Traded twice.

The (buffed) second version is more than acceptable, but I prefer the first version myself.

    Linkblade91

Mecha'zoth is a classic, so I would not be opposed to the idea of using that if you want.

Of the other two, I do think Elise would have the better chance of getting a good score over Xavius. While I for one, support the concept of a card that you "can't" play, some people will likely find it a bit too weird (particularly under its current execution) and penalize it somewhat.

    BloodMefist
I'm a big fan of the effect, although I must admit that I do agree with Sinti in that it costing 11 doesn't seem to serve a significant purpose to the card.

    R
As everyone else has pointed out: Good idea, but the art is already used by the Corrupted version of Sweet Tooth.

    Neoguli

Coral Lurker has a really cool ability (although I am worried that it might be slightly too strong). Though I am hoping Tradeable makes appearances elsewhere, its watermark should be either United in Stormwind or The Deadmines for the time being.

I am not a big fan of Miranda Coastmoor. It's not supposed to be that easy to get Treasures. Marin the Fox requires you to play an understatted 8-drop and destroy a minion you give to your opponent, and [Hearthstone Card (Heistbaron Toggwaggle) Not Found] requires you to have Lackeys (and to be playing Rogue). This requires no such condition and is easily repeatable.

    FieselFitz

As pointed out, Fire Lord Graazek needs an art change since its art is already being used by Fireguard Destroyer. The effect is fine, but I don't think it's intended to hit itself so it should specify "other characters".

Brogon the Trampler is…. an interesting concept but playing it covers two extremes. Either you draw it early and can be play a 10/10 with Rush for very few or potentially even 0 mana, or you draw it late when you've already drawn most of your Beasts and the card is literally unplayable and it wastes a draw. Beyond that, there are syntax errors such as "Beast" not being capitalized and Rush being below the Cost-reduction effect instead of above it.

    Fedrion
A good idea, but I do definitely think it needs some work. As pointed out previously, Totem Goliath as a roll is pretty significant and it's much better than most other things you can possibly get. I'm not too big on the name either.

    Nirast

This is actually one of the oldest fan-made card designs to become a "trope" many many years ago, so it's a cool throwback to those old days to see it come back.

Back then, this effect was theorized to be used as Joust synergy rather than Evolve synergy as the latter had not existed yet by this effect's first iteration. I think this is a cool Shaman design and I do think we will eventually see it in the game some day, not to mention its contrast with other cards in this competition is probably going to give it some appeal in voting. I'm not sure about the specific numbers, but I think the base idea you have is worth using.

    AeroJulwin

It's funny, but I do think the joke is a bit too "on the nose" for me. It'll probably get some points from some people for humor, but it'll likely also cost you some points from others for a very similar reason.

I'd say go for it if you're really confident that more people will love the humor than people that won't. Otherwise, it'll probably be a good idea to have some other card in reserve just in case.

    BasilAnguis

Definitely too weak in my opinion.

As pointed out before in response to Wailor's card, cards that upgrade when Traded only need to be Traded once before they become "good". This one needs to be Traded at least 3 times before it becomes any good and that will take quite a while overall.

    MenacingBagel

    Yes, you will.

That is all that I think needs to be said.

I preffer a control style much more but... The horde just ñures me in... Will wait to play the new nice control card

  • Blizzard Reveals the Next Hearthstone Expansions Cinematic - Fractured in Alterac Valley

In WoW, the Illidari only become playable (i.e. join horde/alliance) during Legion, when Illidan is treated as neutral good (grumpy as always, but now understood enough to not be considered evil) and to be honest the factions don't matter all that much since they work together for the most part. Since then, Illidan is off in space acting as Sargeras' jailer and the illidari settle down to proper faction stuff as per their race.

So my muddled answer would be: they technically continued to answer to Illidan while he was around, yes, but basically everyone followed him for that short time so it didn't conflict with the faction allegiances.

  • Hearthstone 21.8 Patch Notes Are Here - Choose Your Golden Legendary, Balance Changes, Battlegrounds Updates, Mercenaries Buffs, & More

The discover pool is really small so the chance of discovering a Goliath basically comes down to a coin flip. If you discover one and opponent doesn't, it's hard to lose from that point.

  • Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!

I'm actually watching Kibbler play a Amulet Priest.

I believe both are good cards for sure. I just think Drek'Thar being faster gives him the edge. I went horde and am enjoying Drek'Thar. Having a lot of fun with a Deathrattle Demon Hunter with a lower curve.

  • New Neutral Minion - Gnome Private

Not bad. Since all aggro decks will be playing this one for the honor kill text, its definitely worth considering for aggro decks.

The 1 attack is probably the one thing that lets it down, but lets be honest here: a 1 mana minion will only ever take a trade when it can, and in all other scenarios it'll just point face. Since this one has vanilla stats, there's no real downside other than opportunity costs, against say, Stockades Guard

  • New Neutral Minion - Knight-Captain

Its just a poor card outside of the deal 3 damage bit. If you cant honor kill something then this is just a slightly stronger Stormpike Commando, which is quite shit to be honest.

Still, being able to deal 3 damage and only sometimes get a good 6/6 out for 5 after removing one minion is definitely not completely trash, just sitting very near to one.

  • Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!

    FOR THE HORDE >:)

  • New Rogue Spell - Snowfall Graveyard

Its not that this card isn't good, but that there's not really a lot of deathrattle cards worth running in standard, for what rogue usually does. Perhaps this is the time where I'll finally be able to play deathrattle rogue unironically, because I refuse to believe that this card can be printed without at least having some support.

At the moment you can try Nerubian Egg, or Infiltrator Lilian. Or if you prefer to shuffle, there's Ticket Master. But more would be needed because you can't just play a 3 mana do nothing on 3 without an immediate payoff on 4. And certainly long games with rogue is as elusive as ever.

Full of potential, but without the much needed support cards, this is just an arrow without a bow.

    thanks for the answer

so no need to think hard and try to min max here, got it. Everyone will get all the cards, yay!

  • Blizzard Reveals the Next Hearthstone Expansions Cinematic - Fractured in Alterac Valley

Thanks! They still answer to Illidan despite having a race side? Illidan was not in either side, right?

  • Hearthstone Book of Mercenaries Scabbs Cutterbutter is Now Live - Get a Free Rogue Card Pack

Hidden in case people don't want accidental spoilers:

    Show Spoiler

Yeah, it was a bit of a shame really that Scabbs got swamped by all the other characters in the deadmines, to the point where they kind of hijacked his story for the sake of a big team-up. I mean, yeah, I guess he was leading that endeavour, but when you're mostly just playing the other mercs it doesn't feel like it's his mission anymore.

The whole team-up is also at odds with the whole horde vs alliance 'pick a side' thing they're leading with in Alterac Valley. At the end of Scabbs' story, I'd expect them all to be helping each other out to deal with the naaru shard problem, not fighting each other.

I doubt Vanessa will be another card, but yeah, she'll surely make a brief appearance in the next story, whoever's that is.

That was plot twist after plot twist. I enjoyed the history, specially emoting against Cookie

  • Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!

Speaking purely anecdotally, Vandarr has felt like he's made a huge difference in Amulet N'Zoth Priest, Commencement Warrior, and Big Demon Demon Hunter. I haven't gotten around to trying him in Clown Druid or Corrupt Priest yet, but I imagine he'd slot in well there too. Even if Vandarr doesn't end up being good in the long run, it feels really good for slow decks to get some payback in the early meta against faster stuff like Taunt Druid and Handbuff Paladin. Now if only someone would delete Handlock...

  • New Cards Revealed for Fractured in Alterac Valley Including the Legendary Drek'Thar & Vanndar Stormpike

Agreed. But for a hero card, especially next to Cariel, guff looks like something that needs some support cards to truly shine.

Im not saying it won't be in nearly every druid deck, simply because being able to ramp for 1 and gain some armor is just invaluable. Its good, just not broken, at least not yet. Maybe its the same deal like Malfurion the Pestilent, where its the most underwhelming on paper but yet manages to terrorize the meta simply because it complements all the broken druid cards available at that time.

  • New Cards Revealed for Fractured in Alterac Valley Including the Legendary Drek'Thar & Vanndar Stormpike

Wildheart Guff is a Shield Block and Wild Growth in one on the turn you play him, so that seems good value for 5 mana. After that, drawing cards for 2 mana is just good. It's hard to predict how useful it is to ramp beyond 10 mana, but even if that rarely matters, I think it's still a good card. If there is any space in the meta for Ramp Druid, this hero card will be in it.

Edit: The card text doesn't say it's an empty mana crystal, so if the wording is consistent (a daring assumption in Hearthstone, I know) that would mean it's a filled crystal and it would be better than Wild Growth.

  • New Neutral Minion - Drek'Thar

    For the horde!
