  • New Neutral Minion - Knight-Captain

As an Arena main, I have to say that this may very well turn out to be a little unwieldy. 5 mana 6/6 deal 3 is amazing but 5 mana 3/3 is game losing.

This means that you do not have control so much when this comes down. Would I take it over the 5/6 quillboar for example? I probably would. But that minion is a lot more consistent than this one is.

It's a question of upside versus reliability and small overstattedness and 3 dmg may not equal a great 5 drop when you have to rely on your opponent leaving you a 3 health minion to hit.

That being said, it does go face so your face be all already and shit may be cool. Right, HH? I do think it's good, cuz the 5 mana that deals 3 to tribes can be useful though. This is better.

This is honestly a ten out of ten arena card. 3 health is an important break point, and throwing down a 6/6 on top of killing a minion is a huge board swing. And in an emergency, it's a 3/3 kill a dude, which is perfectly okay (see Bomb Lobber).

EDIT: Oh, and it can go face. High power potential and it's super versatile.

  • Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!

Some decks don't have to give them up if they can draw them quickly. Though I agree it's a tough choice. I was building with it and had to stop myself at some points.

I ended up with a deathrattle/outcast demon hunter shaved down a bit to fit Drek'Thar. It's been working somewhat. Taunt Druid and Pirate Warrior fall to it (if the warrior doesn't run Brawls, apparently that's a thing). Quest Mage and Quest Lock are tough but winnable with an early Drek. I could probably make this even more aggressive.

I'll see what the site comes up with. I am sure there is a better, faster deck out there already.

  • New Rogue Spell - Snowfall Graveyard

Can't wait to see what this card's counterpart payoff card is......

  • New Paladin Hero - Lightforged Cariel

What's not to like? Fingers crossed this isn't too slow and they have finally blessed the control fanbase with usable tools for once!

  • Fractured in Alterac Valley

I like the theme of this expansion. The choice of legendary is nice and the faction war associated with it looks fun, we'll see how it plays out. Hero cards are very hit or miss. With speed and game ending potential of some of these questlines we'll see if they can stand up with out becoming the problem.

Honorable Kill: Neat idea. I actually loved Overkill as an idea. It wasn't executed well on most cards but still has potential if they bring it back. I actually was hoping they would here. Still lining up exact shots sounds fun too.

Objectives (the spells that persist for 3turns): Neat idea. I like the idea of Aura spells. Might be too slow but we'll see.

Excited for reveal season. I was already enjoying Deadmines additions so I was okay to wait a bit but glad it didn't get pushed back by mercenaries delays like the miniset seemed to have been.

May the best faction win. For the Horde!

  • Fractured in Alterac Valley

Am I seeing this wrong, or all the card reveal is being shown by playhearthstone themselves? Did something happen? Afraid for more leaks?

  • New Paladin Hero - Lightforged Cariel

Very excited to try this in Handbuff Paladin.  Between the hero power and Highlord Fordragon we'll be pumping out some big bois.

  • Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!

I agree that Drek'Thar seems like the stronger choice but I had a hard time thinking of what low CMC decks would want him in the current meta.  Taunt Druid would need to give up Park Panther, Greybough and Teacher's Pet,  Face Hunter doesn't want to give up Warsong Wrangler into Trampling Rhino,  Pirate Warrior wants to actually play it's pirates for quest progression, and doesn't want to give up Sword Eater.

Maybe some sort of Zoolock or Murloc based aggro deck?

  • New Rogue Spell - Snowfall Graveyard

I assume they count as spells so we can Preparation it? 3 mana do nothing doesn't seem great unless you've already got deathrattles on the board.  The only Rogue playable early deathrattle I can think of is Sneaky Delinquent and that will rotate.

  • Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!

I went with Vanndar Stormpike.  I've tried a Shadow N'Zoth Priest,  Big Demon DH (without Proving Grounds) and an Antonidas Fire Mage and they all seemed fun.  The Fire Mage is probably a terrible idea but I liked the idea of 2 mana Sanctum Chandler and 5 mana Grand Magus Antonidas.

  • New Neutral Minion - Knight-Captain

Yeah, not much. Very conditional for not a whole lot of upside. Will definitely see play... In Honor Kill decks slapped together to complete a quest.

  • Hearthstone Adds New Mecha Skins for the Base Heroes - Available in Bundles or Individually

I genuinely couldn’t figure out which one was Anduin until I saw the Priest symbol next to it. No Blizzard, Anduin will never, EVER be recognized as something like the lion of Stormwind lol. I

    Quote From AeroJulwin

Elise is pretty nice. I love to see the potential support for Arcane Mage. Could use some more stats.

I made her a 5/5 to match Elise the Enlightened and Elise the Trailblazer; do you think the connection isn't worth it?

Headed to bed, so I'll provide feedback tomorrow :)

  • New Mage Spell - Siphon Mana

I kinda hate this card: it feeds too much into the Mage BS. You play a 2 health minion? Ha, now I reduce the cost of my spells! Which were already cheaper because Incanter's. All of these feelings are related to how Mage plays now, but this feels like the direction isn't changing: Mage isn't playing minions, and they are being rewarded for you playing them.

    I’m interested in trying out a turbo C’thun Rogue using Drek’tharr :D

Vandarr is interesting too, but eh. He just screams “put me in a big deck” while being anti-thetical to everything it wants to do… he’s a battlecry first and foremost.

  • New Neutral Minion - Vanndar Stormpike

Eeeeew. Cheating out big minions. This seems ripe for a Big Something deck. A fun build around card, which I didn't read the text and took the other one. Kinda have buyers remorse now.

  • Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!

Yes I was a little perturbed to have to choose before I could play too.  I went straight to OOC to read before feeling like I was armed with the knowledge to choose.

I made the same choice you did.

Still it's a fun new thing so good job on Team 5 for that.  And we get both cards in the end anyway.

  • New Neutral Minion - Drek'Thar

Interesting for Quest Paladin; something to play later and get stats. Doesn't work with Lothraxion, though, so that sucks.

  • New Rogue Spell - Snowfall Graveyard

Right now it's Ticketmaster and plush bears, which is fun, but slow. I want shuffle rogue to be a thing, but this ain't helping. If'n we get some interesting deathrattles in this set, then we can run this out on 3 and hope the deathrattles slowly triggering twice will help make up the tempo lost. Seems so anti rogue.

  • New Paladin Spell - Dun Baldar Bridge

Boom boom boom big butt paladin incoming.

  • New Neutral Minion - Gnome Private

A nice 1 drop for initiative decks. Would make an opponent think twice about 1 health minions into this.

  • Riot Forge Showcases 4 Games - Ruined King Releases, Nunu Gets an Adventure Game

Ruined King is installing now :) The timing is unfortunate with the Sentinel event having come and gone, though; I wish they had said something. I think people would be understanding if there were delays or whatever.

Overall a nice card. Just a big value minion using Demon Hunter-specific mechanics. I do think you should increase the cost/reduce the stats because the requirement is very easy for DH. That being said, with the one attack per turn limit, it's not broken in early game, which is definitely a pro.

    linkblade91
Xavius is an odd card. Cards usually don't reveal themselves without anything happening to them and it makes no sense for this card to be 11+ cost.

Elise is pretty nice. I love to see the potential support for Arcane Mage. Could use some more stats.

Mecha'Zoth is nice, but it's a bit overshadowed by N'Zoth, the Corruptor.

    BloodMeFist
I like the small summon it provides, but I have to agree that this card doesn't need to be an 11+ cost. Why even give it Taunt if you'll never be able to play it (besides doing Shaman a favor)?

    R
Bit unclear what happens if its cost is reduced to the point where it can be Corrupted by the card that reduced its cost. Knowing Hearthstone, the cost reduction triggers after the game checks if it will be Corrupted,. But to clarify, I would replace 'whenever' with 'after'.

    Neoguli
Coral Lurker is pretty well-rounded. Its discount effect is reliable, so you don't have to worry about the 'invest now, don't draw it later.' While if you do draw it later, you still have reason to play it over simply continuing to trade.

Miranda is odd. Her effect is way too powerful and it doesn't need to be an 11+ card. Also, I'll keep saying it, tradeable cards still need value to play, even if they have a fancy trade effect!

    Fedrion
I think the stats fusion is really cool. I love those little details! Indeed be careful with its expansion/balancing, because Grand Totem Eys'or too can cause some problems.

    Nirast
Please make the synergy a bit more subtle (like [Hearthstone Card (Mogul Fleshshaper) Not Found]). It's a bit weird to say "This card costs 11 but really it costs 3." Also, you said it yourself, turn 4 8/8.

    BasilAnguis
It's about what you'd expect for this comp. Everyone is using the 'whenever you trade this' recently and Rush is a go-to. So I don't see it doing very well.

It's currently also pretty weak, because you need to trade it three times for it to be worthwhile, which means you gotta invest first, but likely won't draw it four times. The value difference between each trade might also be too extreme after rebalancing. And extra stats or reduced cost are kind of alternatives, so that just makes it unnecessarily complex.

    Wailor
The balance seems good to me. Most certainly since trading a card already takes a one Mana investment. Although there might be a lack of support for a tradeable synergy.

I'm not entirely happy with this card promoting the 'trade your cards immediately so you might get this value drop early', which kind of ruins the point of the keyword. And getting a cheap Taunt minion in late-game is not nearly as exciting.

    ManacingBagel
The effect has already been done with Pyroblasts and I don't think people want to see a repeat of it. On top of that, this effect can drag on for a while if not many of the spells actually damage the heroes, which is just boring.

    *you've cast this game.

  • Patch 21.8 Battlegrounds Changes Introduce a New Armor System and Hero Tiers, Tamsin Added, Diablo Buffs, Balance

    Staff

Played a bit of BG today, unless i missed something, when I was Cariel, I got 7 Armor. In next lobby enemy Cariel got 9 Armor, so there is either random element or there is some internal mechanism that fine tunes few points of Armor based on the lobby Hero picks. I guess thats why the tiers dont have one specific Armor value but rather a small range.

Also Tamsin seems super weak, but i havent seen anyone to try and trigger deathrattle with her hp, which imho might be more powerful than the hp buff in a right composition.
