There's lots of potential with this one, but Stormhammer it is definitely not. Because the attack scales when upgraded you'll reach a point where your weapon simply can't gain any more durability simply because your opponent's minions either get too far ahead, or have too little health.
I'd expect this to see play simply because it discourages people from playing 2 health minions on 2 just so this card cant snowball the early game and make up a massive weapon in the late game. But since we already know Rustrot Viper will be everywhere - courtesy of Lightforged Cariel - it makes it even less likely this will ever get more than 2 attacks in.
I just assumed it was going to be the 6th because that is win the current battlepass ends. I assume it would be on another day but Mercs has thrown the schedule off of everything.
Same, I stopped playing, honestly, I don't see how the game can NOT become faster with questlines in standard and I'm too far behind because I have like 2 months without playing.
Definitely an Arena card. The stats are awful even if the effect goes off. The real value is in the 3 damage battlecry, which will more often be a factor in Arena than Constructed/Duels.
This doesn't seem so good. You often don't get to play this AND a Deathrattle minion in the same turn, and if you play the minions the turn after this is played, your opponent just ignores them, giving you only 1 turn to actually make use of it. Might be some niche interaction, or maybe something in Wild with the older Rogue Deathrattle synergies, but nothing in Standard as of yet.
Seems really good for aggro decks. But i do see one big problem with Drek'Thar: It costs 4 mana, which means Drek'Thar and Kazakus, Golem Shaper aren't that good in one deck. Actually both kinda do the same thing. Both can create a lot of stats, however Kazakus offers more flexability, while Drekthar offers more immediate stats on board. So i guess it's up to you to decide which of the 2 you use. Oh and there of course is always the potential that both don't get used because some aggro decks need certain 4-5 cost minions?
One thing to remember about Drek'Thar though: He needs to be the highest cost MINION, this means decks like token druid can still use cards like Arbor Up. However this obviously means that you often can't use Mr. Smite alongside Drek'Thar in one deck, unless your willing to wait until you have drawn your Mr. Smite. (Rip you if he's on the bottom of your deck.)
Expensive, but if you consider the Battlecry is just Consecration, then for 3 mana you get 5 armor and an amazing weapon. This seems great, but this will be over shadowed by the much faster aggro paladin this expansion.
Its an interesting card because we never have limited time persisting effects before. Kinda have the feeling that this is what the shrines in Rastakhans should've been.
As far as this goes, its alot of mana for an advantage the following turn. And because paladin don't have too many rush minions, its really a hit and miss as far as surviving long enough to take advantage of the effect.
Probably not going to see much play, to be honest. Lightforged Cariel is the clear winner in 90% of paladins now, so where does this fit in?
Amazing in ANY kind of BIG deck, except BIG priest in wild. (Thank yogg)
Big warrior might use it, after all that deck sometimes has some mana problems in the late game. (I have lots of experience with this. There are so many times i can't play a big minion + removal spell in one turn...) Big Paladin might maybe return with this card? Big DH will 100% use it.
As someone who loves big/control decks, it seems like team Alliance is a easy pick for me! :)
The effect is powerful, the weapon is powerful, the hero power is...powerful. This is one very powerful card all in one that essentially fits into every paladin deck until rotation.
Its basically an auto craft if you're playing paladin, because even if this card rarely ever features, you wouldn't ever want to play a game without the knowledge that this card exist in your deck. Likewise, every opponent will be playing around this card, via Rustrot Viper or otherwise, because if you get this out and your opponent cant respond by terminating your weapon, you just win the game.
The only problem with this card is rustrot viper exists, and the fact that its a 7 mana card that will not save your arse in the early game. And paladin losing its early game is essentially death. At least this card does ensure that you need not play too many late game cards, because as long as you have Mr. Smite in hand that's really all you need to finish up.
Bonus points given because mage needs to actually play minions to get rid of this weapon. There's that at least. Because even with infinite Ignites, its going to take quite a while to kill paladin with this on.
This card is really good. for only 5 mana, you get a card, an empty mana crystal, and 5 armor. The best part is your new hero power becomes pre-nerf Wild Growth or Soul Tap. Seems strong at its current cost.
Alright here is the first actual potentially format BREAKING card. I think we know why Mage questline was REALLY nerfed. Triggering the Honorable kill is pretty easy with spell damage and it can lead to a LOT more of mana cheating. OH and it deals damage, so it can go FACE as well. 2 mana deal 2 is still pretty decent and it deals a good amount of damage with spell damage. Also this will be great in wild, as there are plenty of 2 health minions in wild.
In standard i bet this will see play in Spell mage obviously, and in wild i'm sure it will see play in some combo decks to reduce the cost of spells, and lets be honest. It will also see play in Sorcerer's Apprentice + Flamewaker burn decks.
I hate how people are gonna choose based on classes, because you can play for the Alliance with a Horde class and vice versa. All in all, choose Horde bc I want the diamond portrait! lol
I can't believe they actually make the decision hard. On one hand, Drek'Thar is straight-up a better Call to Arms, but there are ways to break Vanndar Stormpike too like drawing it with Call to Adventure. I'm having more trouble about this than choosing a fucking major.
New Hunter Weapon - Bloodseeker
There's lots of potential with this one, but Stormhammer it is definitely not. Because the attack scales when upgraded you'll reach a point where your weapon simply can't gain any more durability simply because your opponent's minions either get too far ahead, or have too little health.

Hearthstone's Alterac Valley Expansion Card Reveals Begin on November 16
I just assumed it was going to be the 6th because that is win the current battlepass ends. I assume it would be on another day but Mercs has thrown the schedule off of everything.
Fractured in Alterac Valley Has Two Pre-Order Bundles - Mega Bundle Adds Vanndar Stormpike an Alternate Hero
Same, I stopped playing, honestly, I don't see how the game can NOT become faster with questlines in standard and I'm too far behind because I have like 2 months without playing.
New Neutral Minion - Vanndar Stormpike
This will be a staple in almost all Control decks, but is outclassed by Drek'Thar as it is right now.
Fractured in Alterac Valley Has Two Pre-Order Bundles - Mega Bundle Adds Vanndar Stormpike an Alternate Hero
I'm not sure the game will be up in two years time. The decline is too steep.
New Neutral Minion - Drek'Thar
This with the new Dun Baldar Bridge is going to be insane and will warrant a nerf somewhere down the line.
Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!
Dont care about the legendaries, this is Alterac Valley and the Horde always win it. For the Horde!!!
New Neutral Minion - Knight-Captain
Definitely an Arena card. The stats are awful even if the effect goes off. The real value is in the 3 damage battlecry, which will more often be a factor in Arena than Constructed/Duels.
New Neutral Minion - Gnome Private
Good stats, but the effect rarely goes off unless this is played exactly on turn 1, and even then it's not guaranteed.
New Rogue Spell - Snowfall Graveyard
This doesn't seem so good. You often don't get to play this AND a Deathrattle minion in the same turn, and if you play the minions the turn after this is played, your opponent just ignores them, giving you only 1 turn to actually make use of it. Might be some niche interaction, or maybe something in Wild with the older Rogue Deathrattle synergies, but nothing in Standard as of yet.

Hearthstone's Upcoming Expansion 'Fractured in Alterac Valley' Brings Horde vs Alliance Rivalry to Hearthstone in Full Swing!
As Horde player in heart I will take Horde just to fight for the Horde. I will get both of them anyway :)
New Paladin Hero - Lightforged Cariel
Expensive, but if you consider the Battlecry is just Consecration, then for 3 mana you get 5 armor and an amazing weapon. This seems great, but this will be over shadowed by the much faster aggro paladin this expansion.
Hearthstone 21.8 Patch Notes Are Here - Choose Your Golden Legendary, Balance Changes, Battlegrounds Updates, Mercenaries Buffs, & More
I love to see so many bugfixes to Mercenaries and the buffs to some previously arguably useless mercs.
Also like that there's a new book adventure (I recently completed all of the Heroes and Mercenaries adventures).
New Paladin Spell - Dun Baldar Bridge
This card will be nuts, especially in Aggro Paladin.
T3: Coin Dun Baldar Bridge
T4: Drek'Thar
Swarm your opponent with many strong minions early. This will be busted and nerfed to 5 mana early on.
Xristophilus
I put the new alliance legendary into your midrange deck, and removed the lower cost minions. Pretty solid stuff
New Paladin Spell - Dun Baldar Bridge
Its an interesting card because we never have limited time persisting effects before. Kinda have the feeling that this is what the shrines in Rastakhans should've been.

Probably not going to see much play, to be honest. Lightforged Cariel is the clear winner in 90% of paladins now, so where does this fit in?
New Mage Spell - Siphon Mana
Plenty of good Arcane spells already, but this is amazing as the 2 damage point is really easy to reach to trigger it's effect.
New Neutral Minion - Vanndar Stormpike
Amazing in ANY kind of BIG deck, except BIG priest in wild. (Thank yogg)
Big warrior might use it, after all that deck sometimes has some mana problems in the late game. (I have lots of experience with this. There are so many times i can't play a big minion + removal spell in one turn...) Big Paladin might maybe return with this card? Big DH will 100% use it.
As someone who loves big/control decks, it seems like team Alliance is a easy pick for me! :)
New Hunter Weapon - Bloodseeker
Reminds me of the Phaoris' Blade treasure, in that you want to use it to go face eventually, but you build it up by attacking small minions.
New Paladin Hero - Lightforged Cariel
The effect is powerful, the weapon is powerful, the hero power is...powerful. This is one very powerful card all in one that essentially fits into every paladin deck until rotation.
Its basically an auto craft if you're playing paladin, because even if this card rarely ever features, you wouldn't ever want to play a game without the knowledge that this card exist in your deck.
