Thanks for the idea, I did it this way too. :)

The only reason to play Standard for me.

I tried something similar back in barrens with sinister strikes, and after trying this latest build I can confidently say that team5 will never nerf it. Its too dependent on its core cards, and any tempo deck can easily beat it unless they draw really really well. I agree with your assessment that mastering it may be borderline impossible, because misplays are all too common, and there's just too many key cards needed, plus the essential problem of when to pull the trigger, added to the one problem that even pros cant escape from: just not enough time to do everything.

Team5 have always been skittish about nerfing stuff with low win rates. I expect it'll take multiple metas before we see anyone even talk about nerfing this deck.

Thank you, I somehow forgot to do this until now!

    Pro

Paladin worked well enough for me, 2-1 but no fellow Noz player sadly :(

Also Battleground Battlemaster is still OP at 6 mana imho. This should be an 8-Cost card.

Iksar could hardly have made it clearer, but let's try one more time here, for the VERY simple readers: he is not allowed, on penalty of losing his job, to discuss ANY details of Mercenaries right now. The fact that people keep willfully pretending not to understand that is both rude and annoying. He said at the top he wouldn't entertain any Mercs questions - anyone breaking that rule should expect to be either ignored or mocked.

No one asked about the detail on Mercenary from the start. The guy asked why they allocated devs resources to new mode instead of the client. Read more carefully next time. I hate being the person who needs to explain it twice.

  • Most Wanted List ( Beyond The Bandlewood )

I agree with Hidden Pathways getting a nerf, as it is blatant powercreep on Deep Meditation. Probably should be 6 mana that goes to 4, or you need to create 4 cards. Otterpus probably doesn't need Attune. Aloof Travelers is just an obnoxious card, even if they nerf the stats or something it makes running high mana cost champs useless. Which encourages a lot of annoying aggro decks. Nami's levelup condition probably could use a harsh nerf or rework, although I think her levelup payoff is pretty cool if it isn't useable on turn 4 constantly. Otterpus losing attune might help with this as well. Draven/Sion will most likely get nerfed regardless of what people's opinions are of it, but Idk if Lost Soul is really the problem, probably should look at it after the deck gets nerfed as a whole.

  • This deck is no longer being updated.

  • September 15 is Nozdormu Day! Celebrate the Event with Speedy Decks to Play for the Special Quest Completion

The one positive thing about Noz day is we dont get low roll dailies that might just prevent you from playing today.

  • September 15 is Nozdormu Day! Celebrate the Event with Speedy Decks to Play for the Special Quest Completion

I did it in tavern brawl.

    1 in my deck?  Nah - 22!!!!!!!!!

Free wins for my opponents is my good deed for the day :P

  • September 15 is Nozdormu Day! Celebrate the Event with Speedy Decks to Play for the Special Quest Completion

The best deck for me is Suicide Warlock. Took me like 3 minutes. I'm really not interested in this Nozdormu stuff but 600xp is 600xp

  • Miniset speculation

Every mini-set has busted wild so far and I find it really funny. I kind of want to see how far wild can be pushed...

  • [Wild] Legend Quest-Warlock

    how does it work? :)

  • September 15 is Nozdormu Day! Celebrate the Event with Speedy Decks to Play for the Special Quest Completion

Here is my Nozdormu deck for wild. In it Noz actually is not just for decoration, he actually gets summoned onto board if you draw it

P.S. and if you do turn 3-4 combo you can even win against warlocks

  • Most Wanted List ( Beyond The Bandlewood )

    My quick reply (at work)

    Nami, yes.

Sparklefly, maybe.  1/2 for 2 mana staline is rather bad, and the only reason it's even surviving is due to targon buffs.  But targon needs lifesteal options as it's naturally a more control style region to counter the more aggro based regions.

Aloof Travelers.  Yes, 100x yes.  This card is insane on how much it does.  Good statlines for 4 cost.  Draw effect.  Discard opponent's possible win condition. It does too much.

    Hidden Pathways.  Also yes.

Otterpus. Maybe.  Pranks seems thematically fine, but not sure.  I'd have to be very finely tuned.

Lost Soul.  Revenant form should be nerfed to a 3/3

Sharpsight: Eh I don't know.  It's kind of needed for demacia otherwise they would get completely run over by elusive decks.

  • Mercenaries: My First Impressions

As someone who regularly buys the pre-order expansion bundles, I'm actually quite hesitant to buy the merc pre-orders because they don't seem to have a lot of value, and even if they are valuable...it's hard to determine the value because the mode hasn't been released.  We don't have a "baseline" value of how good tokens are, etc.

I think it's a new mode that is exciting and I look forward to playing it.  But I think the way they've presented some info is woefully inadequate.  Hopefully more info gets released as the next month progresses.

  • Reminder: Full Dust Refunds for Hearthstone's September Nerfs Ending Soon!

Thanks for the reminder. I finally dusted my two SoS.

  • Mercenaries: My First Impressions

There's not enough added value in the pre-order, anyway. One free merc with a fancy portrait in each bundle is not reason enough to spend money on a new game mode.

And that's from someone who's actually excited for Mercenaries!

I'm not saying people will regret pre-ordering. Most pre-order people would have ended up spending that money on packs anyway. But for anyone who's on the fence, a diamond frame isn't going to push them over.

  • Miniset speculation

No specific predictions, but I suspect the mini-expansion cards will either be mostly ineffectual or will actually make things worse.

If the next round of nerfs actually takes care of some problems, there's a chance the mini-set cards will be viable without being crazy OP, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • Miniset speculation

There is already an anti-battlecry tech card: Boompistol Bully. It rotated in April. If they added it to the core set then there would be at least a little bit of counterplay to the questlines. It would be very minor but delaying those rewards for a turn could help some decks finish off the quest players. I don't believe they will release a reprint of such a recent card.

  • Reminder: Full Dust Refunds for Hearthstone's September Nerfs Ending Soon!

In late August, Vicious Syndicate reported that Hand Warlock had a 53-54% win rate, depending on which slice of the meta you were looking at. Last Thursday, everything the tracked (high Diamond, legend, and top legend) had Hand Warlock at 52.X%, and it was the #2-#3 deck in all cases.

That’s a healthy position for a T1 deck. The nerf successfully bumped it down, and got rid of some cards that felt especially bad to lose against. It was a successful nerf.

I’m aware that things have continued to evolve since last Thursday’s report. In VS’s recent podcast, they said the new builds with Runed Mithril Rod are taking over. I’m not sure if the WR of those has edged up to an unhealthy level, but VS’ recommendation is to nerf Rod. Obviously, that wouldn’t have been a sensible nerf before now. Note that Vicious Syndicate isn’t calling for the quest to be nerfed either.

  • Miniset speculation

Tech cards to counter or slow quests: unlikely.  Unless they do something like “While this in play, Battlecry effects won’t trigger.” to prevent your opponent from playing the questline reward a turn.  But even then how effective will it be?  What’s the cost?  The stat line?  Too little health and it just get’s removed immediately, effectively stopping nothing.  Could be a battlecry that all other battlecries won’t trigger until your next turn.  At which point Rogue becomes the QL killer with Shadowsteps.

More likely approach is a nerf to the questlines that are problematic, and maybe further nerfs to problematic cards enabling the problematic QL decks.  As to what those nerfs would be, not sure.

As for actual mini set speculation: I feel like they’ve telegraphed Stockades, especially with Dawngrasp’s QL art and theme.  I think someone theorized a new Hogger card having potential as I believe he’s in the Heroic Stockades dungeon (right?  Haven’t played WoW in the longest time.)

But overall I’m just expecting 35 more cards, a total of four new legendaries, one epic, and the rest a mix of rares and commons.

  • Most Wanted List ( Beyond The Bandlewood )

Now that enough time has passed, we finally have a good idea on the real power level of the new cards, so what cards would you want to see in the next balance patch that will be released on October 20?  Here are my personal ones.

Nami: Do you guys remember the +1/+1 that The Veiled Temple used to give? The one that was considered too strong and had to be nerfed. Imagine a better version of that effect on a champions that has one of the easiest level up requirement in the game. Nami always level by round 4 and when she do. You only need to spam burst speed spells to turn your board of tiny elusives into game ending terrors. Since these burst spells also offer protection to your units. Trying to use removal on them ends up being a lost cause. Speaking of elusive...

Sparklefly: During the beta one of the most powerful elusive cards was Kinkou Lifeblade a 4 mana 2/3 with lifesteal. That was deemed to strong and was eventual nerfed to 2/2. So you can imagine the community's surprise when an even better version of that card was released. This card can be tutored with Crescendum and is very hard to get ride off due to all the protection and buffs available for Targon.

Aloof Travelers: This card allow you to discard your opponent win condition, draws you a card and give a decent body for a cheap price, The effect being on summon means there is nothing you can do to stop it. Definitely overturned.

Hidden Pathways: Bandle City has so much card generation that it's pretty much impossible not to fulfill this card condition and contrary to Deep Meditation the discount you get is permanent.

Otterpus: Pranks are for most part manageable except for the grant your +2 cost which can cripple your opponent hand and this little fellow allow you to do that for free.

Lost Soul: An infinite value engine, discard lost soul play a Twinblade Revenant, trade into one your opponent key unit's rinse and repeat, I have won many matches just by out grinding my opponent with this card. It doesn't help that, with 4 power twinblade can kill 90% of meta relevant unit's.

Sharpsight: I really didn't wan't to include this one because it's a the best elusive counter in the game, but if we are being honest this card is too good, protect your unit's, trade efficiently, push for damage all for a cheap price. Most people who use this card tend to forget about the the block elusive part. If you play a Demacia deck, any Demacia deck you run 3 Sharpsight no question asked.

So this it for now. Which one do you agree or disagree with?

  • Reminder: Full Dust Refunds for Hearthstone's September Nerfs Ending Soon!

Nobody gonna mention how these nerfs actually buffed warlock's win rate in general? D6 warlock has technically been killed due to the SoS nerf, but quest handlock has risen in win rate 😓

How long can this go on?
