I really don't wanna sh*t on the meta options as this has been done too much already, but yeah ... watching 2 players duking it out which solitaire would be faster to result in a OTK?
Paladin, Warrior, completely absent?
everyone just bringing Warlock, Shaman, Demon Hunter, + some 4th class over 3 days // 3x 6 hours? yeah. I liked it as background sound, as the casters all are really good and bring personality. the decks? couldn't care to give them a 2nd glance.
- 2 mana 2/3 (battlecry: your opponent can only draw one card next turn)
- 4 mana 4/4 (battlecry: gain +4+4 if your opponent has played a quest this game)
- 3 mana 5/5 (battlecry: If your opponent has less than 8 cards in hand, he draws 2 cards)
Yes, Im not a fan of polarizing metas. At this point if they aren't nerfing the stormwind quest in general all I have hope for is counter cards. But as just like how Patches the Pirate survived the mountains of Golakka Crawlers, its but a band-aid to a gunshot wound.
As well, I think I can speak for a lot of us and say, you may be a good player; but we could care less when you are shoving it in our faces. Saying that other players are bad at the game because they disagree with you does not help you either. All it shows is arrogance.
Pretty much this, 100%.
Nifty, creating discussion threads is not a bad thing, even if you do come off as over-eager. But people generally don't care about what rank you are at, barring specific meta circumstances. But the last thing we need or want is for you to purposefully misinterpret replies, and then continue to not only misuse terms ("So much conjecture" --- what? That's not even proper use of the word) and embarrass yourself; but lowers the ability for you to be taken seriously by others when making discussions about metas. In addition we don't need you shoving your rank in our faces. It really doesn't matter. And then the icing on top of the cake is assuming that because we disagree with your postulation we are bad players. When it couldn't be further from the truth.
In short: You don't seem to want discussion, you want an echo chamber. And when people disagree with you, or call you out on your theory to provide backing/proof... you insult them, call them names, and generally turn into an infantile keyboard masher.
This challenge has been a lot of fun to attempt in Heroic. I went 7 in Heroic with this Mind Tether, SW:V Priest.
I got Scrying Orb and Party Replacement for treasures. Party Replacement was clutch for the board based spells. This deck mostly lost to decks that pop off early and often, basically Pirate Warrior. I forgot the initial client screen shot, but I have a screenshot from HSReplay and a link to the first game. Pics below and at ZtH Priest 7 Wins. I'll try to remember to get correct Screenshots in the future.
Congrats for the results, but with this one and with Paladin! Will post your deck and update the leaderboard in a bit.
For the Paladin run: yeah, Disks of Legend is fun there too - you just have to include as many Legendary minions as reasonably possible for the system to understand what you're doing lol.
I appreciate you sharing another run, despite the identical results: posting multiple attempts isn't definitely against the rules, and (as you said) it encourages discussion - well played!
Great guide as always, thanks for providing that! I'll give this deck a try once I've finished my ranked climb, the playstyle certainly looks appealing to me :)
Not an improvement from my previous post, but worth putting up here for discussion.
I went 7 in Heroic with the suggested Paladin Deck, but swapping out 9 and 10 drops as I didn't have them. I got Crystal Gem and Disks of Legend for Treasures. This is the first time I've ever been able to find Disks of Legend in this style of deck and it was a ton of fun. Forbidden Healing is actually incredibly useful against aggro and both of them saved numerous games. Skipping entire turns to heal doesn't feel as bad if you have the treasure weapon equipped to develop. I could see this fitting in non-challenge decks as well. Images below and at ZtH Paladin 7 Win

Actually I'm a diamond player mostly and I do it over my phone in my spare time.
With zero meta lists only my own decks.
And I'm free to play
The reality is building decks being original is hard and so is climbing while being original. Criticizing others because youre bad at the game is easy...so keep on doing you guys.
Nifty, how good you are as a player does not change statistics created by analyzing multiple players. They might not be as good as you. They may be better. That’s how you create an average.
As well, I think I can speak for a lot of us and say, you may be a good player; but we could care less when you are shoving it in our faces. Saying that other players are bad at the game because they disagree with you does not help you either. All it shows is arrogance.
For me, I would rather talk about game mechanics than personal accomplishments and berating other player
Hex grid is actually used for Faeria, but I'd say sticking to the square grid gives me more design space for cards, since players could consider them for their ability to attack diagonally. It also gives Troops additional breathing room, because the game design feels pretty defense-heavy, and while Turrets can't attack immediately without Readiness, if the game was on a hex grid, it would become more of a stat-check contest since attacks would be available from every angle.
Have you considered going with a Hex grid instead of a square one? It changes the game a bit, but I feed it's a better fit for this type of game (main advantage beeing that you don't have to worry about diagonal attacks).
Regarding actually programming the thing: most card games seem to be made in Unity for some reason, but that's not the only option available. Godot is a completely open-source engine, though it is quite new to the market. There's also Unreal, but it's probably overkill for a card game (if you decide to go with it, go for the 5 version).
So I've been playing a Lady Prestor Deck with a Silence Priest Shell = overstatted minions with drawbacks like "can't attack" etc.
Works out as expected, all the Questline Decks in Wild Casual slaughter me. But this one game against a Pirate Warrior, where I manage to stick a Far Watch Post, slow the opponent down, get to play Prestor on curve and play a 2 Mana Ysera, Unleashed plus a Lorekeeper Polkelt on Turn 7, resulting in a full board of big dragons on the following turn - that was worth it.
Despite the overall win rate from HS Replay being sub 47%, I've been 8-3 through the Platinum ranks as I start to really climb this month. This deck can be strong, but requires a little time for set up and some thought into how to make best use of your draw.
Turns follow the Hearthstone system, but once you play a Slow or Fast spell, your opponent can interact with it like in Runeterra. So for Turrets and Troops, you can play them as many as you want without passing the initiative to your opponent.
Either Turrets and Troops can initiate an attack on their own. On a player's turn, they can force an enemy troop on the board to attack your chosen Turret, and can force enemy Turrets to block with their Troops on the enemy board. There is a keyword called Shield, which works like Divine Shield, may implement an equivalent to Immune in the future.
Core cards would be ones to be released alongside the release of the game, thus such cards would be the only ones eligible for Basic as to create an environment for newer players to grind out rewards and new packs, or for people who want to jump back in time once new sets roll out. I'd also try to not split Virtue into two lobbies akin to Standard and Wild, as I'm a Wild player myself, so I know it's better to not create a split so that everyone has a chance to return to the game. But I also like the Brawl Blocks, so there could be a separate game mode for those who enjoy theorycrafting with limited resources.
Wow, amazing! Do consider learning to code in Unity - might be doable by yourself (the core game), then hire some artists for the drawing part.
Few questions (as for the AMA):
1. which are the turn phases?
2. Are there blockers or only minions with "taunt"? Any kind of spell protection (like divine shields, immune, etc)?
3. Please explain more the idea behind Basic and Virtual. Which are the core cards? Will you consider a different path of making new content than Blizzard did(i.e. standard vs wild)?
When this article was first posted I tried DreadEye's list that you based the budget version off of, and I had a horrible time with it. After watching BoarControl playing the list (or one very similar) yesterday I tried it again last night and this morning with a better idea of how to pilot it. I'm still making my way through the ranks this season, but nearing the end of Platinum with an 8-3 record with the deck since yesterday. Which seems crazy since I'm pretty sure HS Replay puts it around 47%. But again, I initially wasn't playing it right so I'm sure there are a lot of other people also not playing it right and bringing down the overall win rate... ??? Or maybe it'll just get way harder to win with when I reach higher ranks.
Either way, I'm actually having fun with this archetype now that I understand it better! So much fun!

We dont see poppy strongly indicating the current poppy lists dont perform well in tournaments.

Miniset speculation
As long as we're speculating:
- 3 mana 3/4 (cannot be damaged by spells)
- 2 mana 2/3 (battlecry: your opponent can only draw one card next turn)
- 4 mana 4/4 (battlecry: gain +4+4 if your opponent has played a quest this game)
- 3 mana 5/5 (battlecry: If your opponent has less than 8 cards in hand, he draws 2 cards)

Miniset speculation
Maybe a card with battlecry prevent quest progress for 1 turn or one with a passive effect that prevents quest progress while on the board.
I'm hoping for it, because wild is pretty much only questlines atm.
Miniset speculation
The miniset releases roughly two months after the main expansion, so in next 2-3 weeks we should see the next miniset.
I really hate this meta, where it is only quests or decks trying to counter quests (yeah, aggro).
So I was thinking - what could the devs do to change the meta? Create even stronger cards than quests? Will there be mass nerfs?
What do you expect from the miniset?
