  • Master Duelist 1.1: Twisted... To Perfection! - Submission Thread

Greetings everyone, and welcome to the submission thread of the first episode of our brand new Duels series: Master Duelist.

    General Information

This challenge will begin today, August 10th, and will end on August 31st. During this window of time, you'll have to start a Duels run with a starting deck including Y'Shaarj, the Defiler and 3 other Corrupt cards of your choice, being them either class or neutral cards.

Everyone who'll post proof of a 7+ wins run in this article's comment section will be awarded with a different amount of gold, an in-site currency you'll be able to earn from different activities and that will be used to purchase cosmetics in our in-site shop.

    Submission Rules

In order for your run to count towards the challenge, you'll have to provide an appropriate proof of your feat; otherwise, your result won't count. To be precise, you will have to reply to this forum thread including:

    • a picture of how your run ended;
    • a picture of your starting deck;
    • a picture(s) of your final deck.
    • any other information you want: even though it's not necessary, it may help other players or generate a discussion!

Remember that we have to make sure you actually played following the rules, so please help us in doing so - disqualifying players feels bad, and we'd want to avoid it if possible!

    Challenge Rewards

Here's a quick breakdown explaining the rewards you'll receive based on your performances:

    TOTAL WINSGOLD EARNED
Best result (both Casual and Heroic)200
    12100
    10-1150
    8-920
    710

Moreover, who will obtain the best score in the least amount of will also have the chance of suggesting the next challenge's theme!

The winner will be contacted through Direct Messages, where the next challenge's theme will be discussed. In case no one will be able to hit 12 wins before the deadline, the next challenge's theme will be decided by none less than Avalon himself.

    Time Criteria

Those which follow are the time criteria we'll use to determine the winner in case of identical scores:

    • An Heroic run will be considered more difficult than a Casual one, therefore Heroic players will have the priority.
      • If you get the best score overall with a 10-wins run in Casual and somebody else gets a 10-wins run in Heroic, the latter will be the winner of the challenge.
    • In case of more people getting the same score, the winner will be decided by the submission time.
      • If more players will get to 12 wins, losses will count as well: a 12-0 will be considered better than a 12-2 or a 12-1.
      • You could get the highest score on the first day as well as on the last day of the challenge, but if someone submits the same score before you do, then they'll be the winner.

    Closing Information

If you want to learn more about this challenge, make sure to visit our guide page, where you'll be able to find a couple of starting decks provided by ourselves in order for you to take inspiration for your runs.

Moreover, don't forged to share your own creations with the community by adding them to our deck database via our deckbuilder.

  • Imposter Amogus Rogue Deck List and Guide - Memes and Dreams #19

    Deck ID Not Found

I didn't have Auctioneer Jaxon in my collection, but I felt inspired to make a similar deck with what I had. Battleground Battlemaster is included as you might be able to find lethal off a stealth or divine shield golem if it summons a copy of itself a copy of itself from Kazakus, Golem Shaper. I would not take this into any game that would affect your ranking, but the Watch Posts are able to take advantage of slower decks. That, and some decent luck with spells you've discovered or generated from Wandmaker might be enough to cheese out a win with this list once in a while.

  • Wild Murloc Aggro Rogue

Crabrider was changed in patch 20.2.2. The Murloc Rogue dream is dead since it only gains windfury on the turn it was summoned now. Who knows? I might theorycraft another list, but there remains no reason to even consider playing Murloc Rogue as the only "synergy" the deck had is now gone (unless Crabrider happens to get unnerfed when Madness at the Darkmoon Faire rotates at the start of next year).

  • Odd Questline Druid

I just brought this deck to Legend.

In the end I abandoned token build in favor of maximum feral damage: much better in a QL Warlock and QL Hunter meta.

  • Hearthstone Access - A New Mod Improves Accessibility for Blind and Visually Impaired Players

It records at least everything necessary to make a replay. For example, any movement between deck, hand and board, so that should be useable to keep track of what's in your hand and what's in play. It's how the overlay works, and that can tell you things like what generated or drew a card in the other player's hand.

I recall there was an information leak. I think it was with C'Thun, the Shattered where the deck tracker would show you the other player had drawn a C'thun piece, so the deck tracker authors updated it to hide that information. I think there was some fear that Blizzard would ban people for using the tracker if it revealed stuff it shouldn't, which is technically against the rules, but I don't see how they could find out.

I believe detection of the mod could possibly be evaded. I know some anti-cheat mechanisms use signatures of known cheats, and Blizzard might be doing something more sophisticated, but that might not necessarily make evasion impossible. I had a look, it appears it uses DLL injection. I think botting would be more reliably detected based on behaviors like playing non-stop for over 24 hours with 0 breaks. Something I doubt any human would do.

  • Landmarks, the impossible equation ?

After some test I decided to invest on the meta current list (Turbo thrall) and I understand how oppressive can they be. That list seems utterly decent, with some quite stupid peak power (summoning 2 8/8 overhelm t5 with your 4/4 is quite something to behold).

It's a shame that the power level of the landmarks is so variable, with Frozen Thrall being both a beast and the best target for several landmark spells and effects, while a lot of them are either, or both, low power and/or barely compatible with existing landmark spells and effects (not countdown, combo inefficiency, countdown too short to combo).

I'll probably next invest in a Star Spring deck since the game gave me already 2 Soraka.

You know, it's really funny considering I am not at all a cheese person. On Pizza? Of course! Anywhere else? Keep your spoiled milk elsewhere!

I realize I probably just received a million haters. Its kind of like the internal OOC staff conflict on whether or not your should eat cereal with milk.

  • Duels Balance Changes Incoming? What's the Deal with Mind Tether Priest?

I feel you badly: in fact, if I were to comment on a general Duels patch and not on that single tweet, I would've probably talked about Bruising.

  • WCDC Season 4 Suggestions

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I wouldn't mind if they experiment with a few different changes to WCDC. I understand a need for continuity, but changes shouldn't need to be a season long if they turn out disappointing. We could always just keep a change 2-3 weeks and revert it afterwards, or improve it based on feedback. Seems like a great way to test some of the well-received ideas.

As for a 10-star rating system, I'm still against making the current vote more complex/broader. However, I definitely like this version over having multiple voting categories. But may I suggest another change to go with it? I would actually like to see this nonetheless of other changes, but most certainly if we get a 10-star system.

In our voting page, we see the submissions in a seemingly random order (I haven't really paid attention to it). I would like to see them ordered by how many stars I have previously given them. I often like to revisit all the previous submissions once I have more to compare them to. This would make it easier to look at the cards I have given the same rating and decide which ones might deserve to be put up or down a place.

It might only be a small quality of life change, but besides the time put into programming it, I don't believe this has any downsides.

  • Duels Balance Changes Incoming? What's the Deal with Mind Tether Priest?

That would help, but also pruning some active/passive treasures. And coming with up more than 3 choices offered (we know they have the tech for at least 4 and more). It becomes even more of a random luck to land something good when they keep bloating the total amount.

  • Duels Balance Changes Incoming? What's the Deal with Mind Tether Priest?

Bruising still triggers me, which might be due to many scars of going against duplicated legendary minions turn after turn.

Curiously, Priest still has been doing pretty well in the tournaments as part of many winning lineups (with a lot of older cards), and lower ladder ranks always tend to tank its win rate. I imagine a lot of that might be down to Illucia more than anything else.

  • Hearthstone Access - A New Mod Improves Accessibility for Blind and Visually Impaired Players

    I didn't know, interesting.

However, in the hypothetical case that it is possible to access these logs, are only registered the actions that are taken? Like which cards have been played or which minions have died...

Because the interesting thing for a bot would be to know how to interpret the graphical interface in real time, such as knowing what cards I have in my hand or what minions are in play.

In any case, Blizzard will undoubtedly take action on the matter against this mod, as in its current conditions it injects code into the executable and that breachs Blizzard rules. Hopefully Blizzard can implement this feature themselves and integrate it into the game and thus make this fantastic idea come true.

(For all the haters who shoot me full of negatives whatever I say simply because I'm me: each negative of yours is an authentic honor, I am very proud of having a critical and nonconformist attitude and nothing makes me happier in the world than sulking a fanboy. Thanks)
