  • No Really, Play Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

Right? It's my favorite DS game, and has one of the most satisfying stories and endings of any game I've ever played. The gameplay was great too, super unique and never wore out its welcome. It's really a shame that the game didn't get more attention.

  • New Hearthstone Arena Rotation with United in Stormwind - Don't Forget Your "Free" Tavern Ticket!

Thanks for the PSA, as always! I never do Arena, so I have some extra tickets piled up from the last two Tavern Passes. Currently 1-1.

  • Demon Seed Speedrun | Guide and Theorycrafting Discussion

This is a great guide, one of the best I have ever seen, and looks like a fun deck! 2 combos you might want to consider for a deck with a fatigue direction are Malchezaar's Imp into Cataclysm and Bloodbloom into DOOM!. Both of these clear the board while doing a lot to get your deck closer to fatigue.

  • United in Stormwind

We're usually wacky, but this is the weirdest round of predictions I've seen yet.

Cowardly Grunt is one of the lowest-rated cards? Provoke is only at 67? Shadowcloth Needle and Celestial Ink Set aren't top tier cards? Granite Forgeborn, the highest rated Shaman card? Composting, only 64? Find the Imposter not in the top five quests?

I do agree with our analysis of the Tradeable cards, though. The keyword itself seems so powerful! (The opposite of Caravans, heh.) It's hard to imagine that they won't see play.

Does that also hold for heroic Duels?

  • Hearthstone Weekly Card Design Competition Season 3 Recap - Hearthstone Fan Community Spotlight

I have been usurped! It was only a matter of time, I guess, after like two seasons in a row of barely any wins (or none at all) lel.

Congratulations to the winners of Season 3!

  • New Neutral Minion - Traveling Merchant

    Quote From Tumbleweedovski

It's nice that this minion is tradeable, but after all, it's just a stat bomb. No more, no less. Won't see any constructed play and it's a mediocre Arena pick at best. Win-more cards like these never do well in Arena.

I think I dropped the ball a bit on this one. I remember comparing this to Darkmoon Statue in my mind, which I thought to be better in Arena than this Traveling Merchant. This is, however, a much better on curve minion than the statue. It's not uncommon to still have your 2-drop around going into turn 3 in Arena. That makes this a perfectly acceptable 3-drop as a 3/4. It's actually really flexible and so much more than just a win-more card.

Congrats on the pull! Unfortunately I've lost my original decklist from the Barrens meta and haven't had time to make a new from from scratch, but I'm hoping to mess around with it once the expansion launches. I think the addition of the Quest makes it a far better deck, and might be enough to get it out of meme tier.

It's an interesting deckbuilding challenge that comes with a lot of questions - How many ways to draw Hemet do you want to include, and how consistent do you want them to be? How many 4+ cards do you want to potentially remain in your deck after playing Hemet? It's a tricky balance and there's a lot to consider. There are a lot of ways to build a deck around this combo!

Here are a few tips I didn't mention it in the guide:

    • Healing is essential, yet most of Warlock's healing costs 3 or less. Reno Jackson is a promising solution to this problem since he triggers with an empty deck.
    • It's possible to complete the quest with fatigue, but it'll probably result in wasted self-damage which could make things dicey.
    • I'm not too sure how the interaction with the quest and self-damaging draw effects (Life Tap, Backfire, etc.) works. For example, if you're at 5/7 on the quest and life-tap with an empty deck, I suspect that your fatigue damage will happen before the quest completes and not count towards the next stage. However, it's an interaction worth keeping an eye on.
    • One of the biggest problems with the deck in the Barrens meta was that while you wanted to get through your deck as fast as possible, too much card draw would leave you with an unplayable hand after playing Neeru. With the quest completed and your deck empty, those formerly useless cards turn into outrageous amounts of burst. Tapping and playing Backfire, for example, deals a minimum of twenty damage, and each instance of card draw makes the next even more absurd. This makes stuffing your deck with draw much more appealing.

Whatever way you decide to go with it, I'm sure you'll have a blast. These kind of decks really make Wild feel Wild. Good luck with the build!

  • Rewards Track: Current progress 2.0

Just got level 219, sitting on 10140 gold and a 2 loss Arena run. Even setting aside 2000 for the miniset, 81+ packs ain't bad. Really hoping to get back into Rogue with the SI:7 this expansion, though Warlock's Quest looking pretty good too.

  • United in Stormwind

I’m a little surprised by how low rated Impatient Shopkeep is.  It’s not great by any means, but I feel like the flexibility of being Tradeable alone should put it higher than it’s 27 rating.  I guess it comes down to just having better 3 drop options, taking this hasty store owner out of contention in most builds.

  • Questing in Stormwind - Better Understanding Mage's Sorcerer's Gambit Legendary Questline

The Oasis Ally stuff is true, when deckbuilding I had an oversight and forgot that Flurry (Rank 1) existed. If I were to play this deck, I would swap the two.

As for the spells that target minions, while also true that they cannot be cast if there are no minions to target, I think its pretty safe to assume that the opponent is going to play some minions at some point that can be targeted. While this can mess up the application of the math against some decks that do not play many minions, it is a bit unreasonable that the opponent will not have play anything on the board. All of these articles assume a hypothetical 'ideal scenario', where the opponents aren't applying much pressure, but do have creatures on board if there needs to be some targeting.

  • Questing in Stormwind - Better Understanding Paladin's Rise to the Occasion Legendary Questline

We've gotten clarification from two different sources saying two different things and I haven't had the time to check out all the theorycrafting streams to see if it works the way I think it does. That being said, the Pen Flinger -> Blessed Goods -> Pen Flinger example you provided was accounted for in the math. The only time Pen Flinger speeds things up would be when you draw it in an earlier step, and then finish that step, allowing you to use Pen Flinger for more progress.

  • Reviewing Hearthstone's New Paladin Cards Arriving in United in Stormwind

I'm of the mindset that Questlines and aggression don't mix. One less card in the mulligan and passing on turn 1 despite being tempo-focused will, in my mind, almost certainly leave Questline Paladin dead in the water.

Handbuff, on the other hand, looks to be very intriguing. That's a deck I'm looking forward to trying. If that fails, there's always the older Libram and Secret archetypes to fall back on. I can only hope that Paladin can recover from the recent Barrens nerfs and get back on its feet!

  • New Hearthstone Arena Rotation with United in Stormwind - Don't Forget Your "Free" Tavern Ticket!

Currently 5-1. Keep going in thinking this will be the second loss. I dunno.

  • Winners of the Out of Cards United in Stormwind Mega Bundle Giveaways

Better catch up then, I've already theorycrafted for keywords that blizzard hasn't even thought up yet.

  • Questing in Stormwind - Better Understanding Paladin's Rise to the Occasion Legendary Questline

Because the wording says "Play 3 different 1-Cost cards" rather than "Play 3 1-Cost cards", I read that as "Play 3 differently-named 1-Cost cards". I would expect that you couldn't, for example, play Pen Flinger, Blessed Goods, Pen Flinger again to complete a given step, because that's only 2 "different" cards. Or has it been clarified that the cards don't actually have to have different names?

  • New Paladin Minion - First Blade of Wrynn

    Solid card.

Too much Handbuff support... Not bad, but it already is a good deck in wild... it doesn't really need this much support.

  • New Druid Minion - Oracle of Elune

So, hand or deck buffing two Stonetusk Boar, so it has 8 attack or maybe less, then 1 or 2 oracles and them Boars.

    Fun.

  • New Warlock Spell - Dark Alley Pact

    We've all seen 0 mana 8/8, 1 mana 8/8, 2 mana 8/8, 3 mana 8/8, now we'll see 4 mana 9/9!

  • New Warlock Spell - Demonic Assault

    Decent anti-aggro tool.

    F*ck aggro.

  • Questing in Stormwind - Better Understanding Mage's Sorcerer's Gambit Legendary Questline

I think unfortunately for several of the suggested cards, simply having the card and mana to cast it isn't enough. You can't cast the second Oasis Ally if the first hasn't triggered yet, and you don't have much minion generation to make triggering it likely. You can't cast the 7 (3x1 + 1x1) spells that only target minions if there are no minions to target.

  • New Priest Minion - Voidtouched Attendant

"I'm alive by 1 health. Oh... oh f*ck..."

  • New Neutral Minion - Encumbered Pack Mule

With a good deck buffing deck, this would be really good in Druid, Hunter and even in some form of control Handbuff Paladin.

You get the copy if drawn with Bannerman, so... automatic 2, 2 mana 3/4 taunts in hand. Really good, not shinny and spicy, but good enough.
