Arena card, and even there... it's pack filler.

Not really digging the Divine shield Paladin archetype. In duels this is really good, not broken, but really good.

I think this one is the most useful of the SI:7 cards.

I mean 1 more damage than backstab. 1 more mana than a 0 cost card is a lot tho.

Ok-ish card. Nothing really fancy, much like almost every other SI:7 card.

This with Secure the Deck can make for a fun little OTK. Gonna try to see if it can be done.

High snowball potential, is kill on sight target. The high health make it survive the summoning turn. Strong, not busted but strong

Friendly reminder that Grand Archivist exist , meaning you could use it to finish your quest , play 3 coins that you already got from Licensed Adventurer or Gilded Gargoyle play Xyrella and end your turn for an OTK (Of course this would require that you run 0 spells in your deck)

I tried this and if I change my time too early in the hearthstone loading process it says couldn't log me to blizzard services at this time. But if I change my computer time too late the old adventures do not appear under the Solo Adventures tab. Does anybody have any idea what is what I am doing wrong?

Probably will see play in every warrior deck not just pirate. This + Sword Eater or Stonemaul Anchorman is pretty good filler for any deck.

With your hero power it becomes a 4 mana 3/4, with another hero power 6 mana 5/4... still not convinced ;)

Oh it's happening. I already have big plans for a deck that doesn't even exist yet. I'm just gonna manifest it through sheer force of will, that's how far ahead I'm planning.

The quest doesn't have to work in every single match-up for it to be valuable. In pocket metas, maybe you tech it in to give a more consistent win condition in long control mirrors. A massively armored Control Warrior won't die to C'Thun, but will obviously die to the Shard.

Mech studies with a body, maybe not the best card but discover is always a good effect

I agree that the job of the courts is to punish this sort of thing, but I don't think that means customers have no role to play. It's certainly true that court can have a much larger impact than any individual in terms of punishing Blizzard, but a large, unified group of consumers can exert a lot of power too. That's the basic premise of any free market economy - that businesses which are bad (produce bad products, abuse workers, etc.) will be punished by the market rejecting them.

I'm sympathetic to the view that this premise puts too much burden on individuals to punish massive corporations, but I think you can find plenty of examples where corporate malfeasance is only punished with a slap on the wrist by courts, so it's not like that route is consistently effective. Moreover, there's no shortage of people online who regularly complain about Blizzard being strictly focused on profits above game quality (at least as far back as Activision's acquisition of them). The Warcraft 3 Reforged fiasco is a great recent example of this, and the tone deaf responses from corporate leaders in the wake of this scandal highlight how their priorities aren't really on fixing the company rather than saving face. Hitting them in their wallet via boycott sends a strong market signal that their consumers want to see change in their behavior.

I don't want to sink the whole company. I agree there are lots of innocent people (and even victims) at Blizzard who deserve a better workplace, not a bankrupt employer. I have enjoyed playing Hearthstone for years, and I don't want to see it gone because I really don't think other CCGs in the market can replace it (I have soured considerably on LoR, and as great as MTGA is, I think its complexity means it can't fill the same fast-paced space that Hearthstone occupies).

But that doesn't mean I don't want to send Blizzard a message that makes clear that I want to see them make meaningful changes to their corporate culture. A boycott doesn't need to mean "destroy this company by taking away all their revenue." It can simply be a protest that shows Blizzard that their customers are willing to hit them where it hurts.

After mulling it over for a while, I've decided to stop paying for anything in Hearthstone (and any Blizzard games writ large), and just going totally F2P. That leaves the door open to spending more on the game if Blizzard can show meaningful change, while not cutting out a product that I enjoy a lot.

I've done a little bit of theorycrafting for past expansions, but I never thought too hard it so my decks never really made much sense. Writing this guide got me to really think about my deck and its gameplan, which ended up transforming it into something completely different than what I initially had in mind.

I had a ton of fun writing my guide and seeing those that other people made, and I feel like I became a better deckbuilder in the process. I'd love to see more of this kind of giveaway in the future!

The inclusion of this card in the set tells me that they setting up for a mech expansion in the near future. All sets from next year have already been decided so it's very likely this is an early setup for the next year. Right now, this obviously isn't a viable card but in a mech expansion this becomes very strong. It's a discover with a built-in mana discount. This is never a bad thing. So, i believe this is here as a hint for what to expect next year.

Thanks for these articles. I have enjoyed them and I like the statistical analysis. It gives me a better idea of how long it would take to complete a questline, which is the hardest part to guess when looking at them.
