"If I was guessing what card would be banned in the first week, it would be Undertaker."
I'd be more likely to guess that *no* card will be banned, period, if it wasn't from the outset. Maybe that's a cynical sentiment, but do they need to care about Twist? It's like their failure to curb bad-apple cards in Tavern Brawls; it's there for those who want it, and yet doesn't garner enough attention anymore to keep it "pruned", as it were.
Well, it's been fun. I even managed to buy every single snow based item in the shop. Had I not been trying to do that, I probably could've been much higher on the leaderboards. I thought I had today as well, but it seems the leaderboards are locked already.
It's disappointing that there were none of those scavenger hunts this time (or whatever you call that thing where there's a clue and you need to visit a specific page to solve it), but I'll assume the staff were too busy with real life.
Somehow "expensive" control decks has seen nerfs less than those rare/common cards. I really wonder why !?
They justify that as if they made a decision against mill. You can't expect them to say "Hey, we just can't give you 1600 free dust just because we are against mill on competitive side of the game. Also the card is just so new, let people play and we nerf it after a new expansion comes, just like we did on Tickatus"
How you fall into this tactic is beyond me tho. Yeah, I surely bought that hiding behind that decision, they are surely against "uninteractive and unfun to play against decks". Poor rare and common cards are always those.
Insincere and dishonest. "Hey we care our community, look we nerfed Dew Process but you can still do that with Boomboss or patchwerk, you can steal max health of your opponent with The Azerite Snake, they are not uninteractive or unfun, but Dew process was..."
Don't get me wrong, I am fully against killing cards by nerfing them, but if you say that you have a decision, you have to treat all the same. They simply think they can make a fool of us and we bought these claptraps. well seems like you did tho.
I am all about Warcraft II! That game's special place in my heart has never been filled. I played it through an emulator a few years ago, and it was just as good as I remembered. Can't wait!!!

I still have my original diablo and starcraft cds. Still play then from time to time. Warcraft 1 and 2 were my Uncle's. Might be fun trip to replay those with him.
I'd say so - looks to me like the 4 Horsemen of Snowpocalypse 4 are already identified; Anchor, Pez, VaBez & Yourself - when you draw all 4, the game is over ^^
If the issue is with licensed music, there's a good chance it'll be removed from there as well. It might've not happened yet because of some stipulation from GOG that you need to give them advance notice of the removal (but that's just me speculating)
You haven't seen much of Velarok, Pendant or Dew process? What rank are you, because most opponents (that aren't Warlock) I encountered on Diamond and Legend were Mill Druid and Excavate Rogue, which really abused these cards.
Edit: Also, Brann didn't need nerfs, but he might if Warrior gets crazy. First tho, I think they should change the 8-mana Astalord manathirst to not stack with it (change 'instead' for 'additional').
Because no one in the history of hearthstone said "oh great it's my favorite opponent, mill _insert class_". Even when you win it just feels like you played a pointless game. When a mill deck is played only one person enjoys that matchup 100% of the times.

This article and comments are so biased and not backed up by data lmao. Brann warrior isn't even tier 1 on any tier list. In fact it's closer to tier 3 than tier 1. The strategy is just too slow and completely annihilated by plague death knight. And it's not like plague dk thrashes every highlander deck. The good ol' control warrior performs better than brann.
I think this card will become problematic once the meta slows down, but sludge warlock is still untouched so we might have to wait for such a meta. Brann will get nerfed eventually but right now it's nowhere near problematic. It's a typical control deck destroyer and people always find a way to complain how those decks destroy their home brewed unoptimized pile of cards. Just like people were still complaining about control priest even tho it was at the bottom of tier 3.
One more thing: The initial reaction of a lot of pro players and other experts on Twitter has been very negative while most "ordinary" players seem to be happy with the changes. I'm very interested to see who's right here in the long run.
I think the most simple answer is that the card is too new to get nerfed, especially being the poster boy of the Mini set. Somehow they always seem to deliver something broken with those... If it ends up truely warping the meta, we'll get a nerf before the next expansion drops for sure.
That said, I'm not sure if it's needed. As you've said yourself, aggro is able to get underneath a deck that depends on playing a 6 Mana do nothing card that needs to be found in a singleton deck and most importantly, Plague DK is still viable. I'm surprised your list doesn't run Steamcleaner to be honest since if you can't trigger Brann's battlecry, you will have a very hard time winning your game.
Please take the above as the single opinion of the Wild player I am ;-) Maybe I'm just disappointed because I haven't been able to make use of Brann in my mode so far...
Huh, it definitely changes your perspective a lot when you're playing different game modes (and servers?). I'm a Wild main playing on EU, most months climbing to Standard D10 or D5 depending on the meta and how much time I have. Here are my thoughts:
Velarok, the Deceiver: I'm surprised you're surprised Pezman, Hat had announced that nerf during the holidays. I'm very happy with it because I do not care about the guy's stats at all and the effect has not been touched. I have never been a Thief Rogue player, but the Badlands expansion made me fall in love with a fun version of Excavate Rogue (no Shattershambler, no Scourge Illusionist, but 2x Wishing Well). Great nerf!
Pendant of Earth: Thank Yogg for this nerf. This has been absolutely absurd from the perspective of an aggro player. I have seen a lot of this in Wild, where it's mainly used to discover Naga Giant or Crypt Keeper. Good nerf from a balance perspective and also flavour-wise imo! Some people also use it in Standard for a better chance of Eonar, the Life-Binder shenanigans with...
Shattered Reflections. Seems to be fair in Priest, but said combo with Eonar leads to very crazy turns, especially if the Druid was able to ramp before that. Good nerf target, not sure if it's enough though.
Dew Process has been the center piece of Mill Druid in Wild which was a very viable archetype there. I hear it got some traction in Standard as well and believe me when I say you're lucky they nuked it before it became popular. I guess there's a high chance they'll revert it upon rotation, but I'm glad about the breathing room we got in the meantime, however short it may last.
Boogie Down: Losing Taunt is huge imo, I'm not sure if the card survives this. Might have been enough to just adjust the cost. Overnerf for the sake of not touching Shroomscavate (yet)?
Thaddius, Monstrosity: I've hated this card since the first time I saw it. Let's hope it stays dead this time.
Deepminer Brann? I will read your deck spotlight article next but from my limited perspective I don't see much of a problem here (maybe because my favorite Standard deck is Excavate Plague DK). I'm more concerned about Sludge Warlock and maybe Naga DH but let's wait and see how the meta shakes out.
Most important change for me: The Mine Rogue bug got fixed, Wild is playable again!!
That is a crazy nerf to Thaddius but it looks quite warranted when you look at the card's winrate stats on HSReplay.
Diamond through Legend tells us the card had a bit of a rise in January but ultimately wasn't that big of a deal and it's fizzled out.
But when we look at Bronze through Gold, it tells a different story. Players are having a rough time with the card and even though both the top and bottom of the ladder see Thaddius at a popularity score of 1.38% and 2% respectively, so a small number of decks, the card is clearly a winrate outlier in lower-end play so if not many are playing it, nerfing it sounds like it will only improve those weird one-off games where he's just such a powerhouse and can't be dealt with.
In a game with no "casual" or "just for fun" mode. ok.
and when casual mode existed before, there was only bots and people who tries to complete quests and concedes, or people who tries their "competitive" decks there, so why people can't play their "just for fun" decks in a competitive way ?
You can't deny a complete archetype from ladder, you shouldn't. Well, if you do, you can't balance the game completely and people can climb with their %80 win rate Highlander warrior because that archetype is counter of another.
Shitty decisions.
Oh btw, somehow, Boomboss Tho'grun or Symphony of Sins or Patchwerk can't count as mill when they are control cards right so they shouldn't nerf them? same was for Tickatus. They are winning with those cards but they are not mill decks, they are controls... When a deck is complete mill it is problem but when win condition is milling it is not ? That's the weirdest shit in the universe.
Dew Process was probably nerfed for how effective it is in mill druid's combo with Solar Eclipse. Slowing that deck down a little gives the opponent a chance to actually play something during those games.
I can't believe they didn't even consider nerfing this ridiculous card. "Rest of the game" cards need a much more difficult condition than just building a singleton deck.
Maybe they DID consider it ... of course, that's even worse, if they considered it and didn't nerf it. I agree that "rest of the game" effects need to be harder to achieve. The other 2 I mention above (Mograine and Odyn) don't require anything but drawing and playing them. At least Brann makes you go singleton, but that's not even very limiting. This is why I actually liked the 3-part Questlines: you really had to work to get those big rewards.

It is just an insincerity of how they treat Boomboss Tho'grun and Dew Process.

That decision of blizz is ridiculous if you ask me. It's nothing different to lose to The Azerite Snake or Boomboss Tho'grun or mill.
At least mill is more creative than Astalor, the Flamebringer. How many times we saw the same finisher in 10 years? Sire Denathrius ? C'Thun ?
